I am catholic and my husband is no religion we were both amazed on the whole Vatican City , never could imagine how grand it was and Johanna our tour guide was so knowledgeable and passionate , fast walking but she really captured as much as she could – recommend it to all religions , Lindsey , manager – ISON travel

Our guide, Elisa, was so knowledgeable and passionate about her tour. Her obvious love of the paintings, the sculptures, the history and stories of the Vatican shone through this tour. We learned so much listening to her and it definitely made the visit for us.

Just WOW! Roxy (short for something I can’t remember) was a very friendly, personable, and knowledgeable guide. We began at the Vatican museums—I was impressed as she knew exactly where to stand, what to point out, and how to move through the exhibitions. Honestly—the museums are so large and contain so many sculptures, maps, tapestries, mosaics, etc—you would be there for days if you stopped to look at every item. Roxy moved us with purpose highlighting many important artifacts with interesting facts and stories. Next we went to the Sistine Chapel. It is unbelievable—as a Christian-it was jaw dropping. Roxy prepped us prior to entry so we knew what to look for, how it was arranged, and the history of the paintings. Amazing! Next we were off to St. Peter’s Basilica. Again—jaw dropping inside. We had photos from the 40’s of our great Uncle we tried to re-take—Roxy was helpful in determining those locations. Again—overload on things to see. Roxy pointed out the main items, gave advice as to how to go under ground to see the deceased Popes’ tombs, and where to access climbing the dome (extra fee $10) if interested at the end of the tour. After 3 hours Roxy was done but we spent at least another 1-2 hours at St Peter’s looking around, climbing the dome, and going underground to see the tombs. Strongly recommend a tour guide. So much to see we would have been walking aimlessly and missed many important facts and items. We had 7 in our group which was amazing. Plus being in Feb Roxy keep saying “this is awesome—not crowded and able to view so much more” I especially think a guide would be detrimental in the peak season as it gets very crowded. 💯 approved!
