Luisa was a wonderful, entertaining and knowledgeable guide. We have been to the Sistine Chapel and museums before with a guide and she provided new information. Thank you

Paid For a small group tour which was supposed to be 4 to 6 people we had 14 it was horrible. I would’ve never done a big group which is why I paid extra for the small group.

On arrival to the meeting point, we discovered that the semi-private tour, a maximum of 6 people ‘guaranteed’, was now going to be a group tour of 12 persons due to a sickness absence. We were offered the ‘Hobson’s Choice’ of a full refund if we didn’t want to proceed or a 50% refund if we wanted to go ahead in a larger group. Our Livtours guide joked, that we could have a full refund but ‘look at the queues guys.’ Nobody found this very amusing.
The tour was perfectly fine until we entered the Sistine Chapel and we were waiting entry to Saint Peter’s Basilica. Where our guide got into a heated exchange with a Vatican official and we were all asked to leave and refused entry into Saint Peter’s Basilica. We were directed back to the main entrance, where our guide departed and left us to queue for an hour and 45 minutes to gain entry to Saint Peter’s Basilica which of course is not to be missed.

This tour is small which is exactly what we were looking for…our guide was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would chose this tour again and strongly recommend it.

  5. Patricia_H

Tour guide was great but we got kicked out of the Sistine Chapel before exiting to the Basilica. We then had to walk through the entire tour again on our own to make our way back to the chapel.

Our guide, Claudia, was kind, knowledgeable, interesting and funny. She brought history to life and made the experience for us. Thank you!

Overall our experience was fantastic! Our guide Sergio was very informative and had extensive knowledge about the Vatican. The crowds were huge so you didn’t get to see some of the artwork due to everyone needing to move through but this is no fault of the tour operator. At the beginning our guide didn’t turn up but the other tour guides placed us into their groups without any issues and we had a wonderful experience. I would use Liv Tours again.

Veronica from LivTours was a brilliant guide making the magic Vatican even better. She brought the best out of what you can expect during three hours.

  9. Tanner_G

Small group was totally worth it. 6 people, which meant in the crazy busy Vatican, it was easy to keep the group together. Alessia was our guide and she was wonderful!! This tour saved us hours and hours in line.

We loved our tour guide. She was amazing. So knowledgeable—and she carried a tablet to show us pictures to explain more in-depth what we would see, especially in the Sistine Chapel where photography is not allowed.
We didn’t like the fact that Viator billed it as a Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel/St. Peter’s Basilica tour, but the tour company, Liv Tours, only had it as museum/chapel tour and not the Basilica. We felt totally shortchanged and would have done something different because when we got to the Basilica, we were in our own. So Viator, do a better job.
Also, the museum happened to run out of headsets so we could only hear when the guide stopped to tell us something. That’s was a bummer because we walked by lots of things without knowing what it was. Lots of group tour companies provided their own headsets, so they didn’t have to rely on the availability of the museum.

We ended up getting a private tour due to the others not showing up, which was a wonderful experience with our guide. However, I know that our guide and the tour would have been wonderful even if we had a larger group.

  12. David_D

The entire experience was transformative. Marco was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and enlightening throughout the tour.

We had an excellent guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and because we were a small group, we were able to move quickly through the crowds. We saw everything! It was amazing. Although it was very crowded, we always found a spot to gather and see the highlights of the Vatican, the Chapel and St. Peter’s. We even went below the see the burial places for the popes.

Our tour guide (Caterina) was amazing!!! Her English was perfect and very easy to understand. She gave many art history, historical and religious connections that we would not have made on our own. She was kind, got us around the crowds and we skipped all the lines. It was a great experience. Wish we could have spent 10 hours going through the museum instead of 3!

The sights here were truly amazing. St. Peter’s Basilica is absolutely breath-taking. The works of art they have in the Vatican are amazing. The Sistine Chapel is beautiful. The crowds and lines, not great. Even though this is a skip-the-line tour, once you’re inside there are still lines that cannot be avoided. However, this isn’t the tour company’s fault, so I didn’t deduct a star for that. Our tour guide was great! I feel terrible, but I forgot his name! Older gentleman who was a true Italian, complete with the greatest hand gestures and facial expressions! Loved him! We had headsets, which worked okay, but sometimes it was still difficult to understand our guide. But overall, a great tour, and definitely worth doing!

Make sure you do skip the lines. The normal line to get in must have taken hours but we sailed right in. Sergio was our guide and super nice and knowledgeable. Make sure you bring water, there is no place to get any throughout the tour.

  17. Dylan_P

Guide was excellent, skipping the line was worth the price. On previous tours I was able to see the papal apartments and more about the life in the Vatican. This tour focused on the tapestries, Lacuna and the Sistine chapel. As it was my second time to the Vatican it suited me fine but as a first time recommend seeing more of the museums.

We had Andrea, he was great! He was informed and very aware of each person in our group. We had a group of 4 and all enjoyed it very much. The Basilica was our favorite building. Highly recommend! The Caffe outside meeting point also has amazing gelato!
My advice is be prepared for a lot of walking and many steps.

Ribal was an excellent guide for our tour. Our family has been on many tours in the past and this was one of the best ever. It had already been a long day for our kids when we met Ribal, but he kept the kids engaged and made the Tour interesting and not overwhelming. Taking us to see the papal carriages was also a highlight of the trip. Ribal is full of knowledge and gave us just the right amount of information. When we return to Rome, we will not book with anyone else.

Our guide was excellent! Very informed and able to convey her knowledge of Rome to us effectively, courteously and friendly. We really enjoyed our time at Sistine Chape, St Peter’s and Vatican museum because of her.
