The tour guide canceled on us due to a holiday and never responded to my messages after that. I would not recommend them.

I would recommend to visit the Colosseum but not with this tour operator.
It was extremely disorganised and last minutes changes and very long wait. i visited the Vatican with the same TO and it was really fabulous.
I am not so sure what happened there but very expensive for the service received.

My mom and I did this tour when we were in Italy last year. Maria was such an excellent guide— both knowledgeable and personable. We would highly recommend it.

Focussed tour of the Colosseum with a lovely guide. We were in a group of ~20 with earpieces. The tour was 90mins in the Colosseum before we had a break and then entry into the Forum for us to explore.

i’m usually a low key client and have been impressed with my other tours during my visit of Rome BUt i was very disappointed by this! the radio didn’t always work very well. also i was under the impression that we were ALSO going to visit the Hill and the forum as well. we didn’t 🙁 at the end of the tour our guide (who was informative and kind!) told us to find people outside to direct us to the other sites :/ i couldn’t find anyone from the company! i walked around and everything… another example to show how unorganized this company is — the meeting point is outside of the metro where a lot of other tour companies meet. they gave radios to a pair of clients and these clients belonged to another tour company! (the guide from the other company realized that their clients were in the wrong group, found them and fixed it. now that’s attention!) i wished i had booked a different tour and i could get my money back! 🙁 very disappointed

A great tour of the Colosseum’s exterior and interior. The guide was Arian—I hope I spelled his name correctly—was very knowledgeable. The site was busy, but it didn’t take long to get past security & I was able to take decent photos. I had to miss the Roman Forum and Palatine Hills, which were included in the ticket, because I had to get back to St Peter’s Square by a specific time, and the Colosseum tour started a bit late. Nevertheless, this tour was one of the highlights of my trip to Italy and I would do another tour of the Colosseum with Arena Tours and with Arian as a guide.

Worst tour we did while in Italy. Very difficult to find the tour group. The organizers seemed annoyed, frustrated and uninterested in making it a pleasant experience. The tour guide Diana (I believe) tried her best under bizarre circumstances but almost felt like she was making things up as we went. Would not recommend this tour!

The negative review stems from the lack of coordination and efficiency of the tour session itself. There was a long delay in getting the tour setup with tour guide and audio listening system. The audio was very static and would loose reception if your were at the end of the group.
The Venues themselves are great and speak for themselves, I would have hoped for better efficiency with the start of the this third-party guided tour company. We where delayed quite a bit which resulted in our family group being pressed for time and had to opt out of the tour group as soon as we entered the Colosseum. Yes, we did see the arena on our own. We quickly walked through the arena as we headed in the direction of the exit. It was a disappointing session compared to other associated part of the Viator tour of the city and Vatican Museum guided tour.

I loved all the extra information our tour guide gave us such as the public toilets and using urine to make ammonia. Our tour guide was great, with a wonderful sense of humor. We walked right in once our group was all assembled. The structure was amazing. When all the information of what the structure used to be, you can visualize it as it was! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Excellent guide. Brings the experience to life with many interesting facts about the Colosseum. Highly recommended.

Great tour with a group of about 40 people. This is a very popular and crowded tourist site, so we were glad we had a guide to help explain the different aspects and guide us thru the building. At times it was too crowded to even read the plaques, so was best to hear our guide explain it. The Colosseum is awesome and would highly recommend this tour.

The reason for poor is purely because of the rude tour guide to virtually all members of the group who were of all nationalities Korean,English,Canadian,American and Dutch.
We understand it must be difficult to look after a group but it did feel like we were treated like children and spoken to very rudely also.
He was patronising to younger members, had very little information to give and in general I feel the job just wasn’t for him.
The skip the line aspect was the only benefit to this ticket and seeing the colloseum itself of course was amazing!
It was just a shame as we had another tour at the vatican from another company Bratours and she was fantastic!

Booking through Viator was super easy. I was texted by the tour operator a few days before to change the time, which was no problem. The tour was run by Arena Tours and Maria was our very experienced and super knowledgeable guide. I would recommend using Arena tours especially if you get Maria although am sure other guides are just as good. The tour lasted around 2 hours.

The description for the tour is very misleading. It did not say that the tour for palatine hill and roman forums are not guided. The description stated ‘with this guided tour that offers in-depth explanations and insights about the highlights of all three sites.’
We just got to know during the tour that only for Colosseum is guided and Palatine Hill and Romon Forum are not guided. It is a big place to wander without a tour guide. Further, no tickets were provided at entrance (coz the tour assistance sent us in), so we cant go in to the Palatine Museum coz we have no tickets.
Very bad experience. We paid 64 euros each, and it was not worth it. This was worth a 30 euro tour.

Maria was amazing! She shared so much knowledge and insight while walking through the Colloseum. Arena Tours was excellent to deal with, friendly and helpful. We had scheduled a tour (weeks in advance) with another company which cancelled 3 days before our trip. Arena Tours were able to accommodate the six of us! Highly recommend Colloseum and Forum!

The tour guide was amazing – so much history and stories to explain the details and construction as well as the history leading up to the development of the Colosseum. It’s a shame it was raining very hard when we got to the Palantine Hill and Forum portion of the tour but the Colosseum still made it worthwhile.

DONT BOOK THIS ‘TOUR’. They started an hour late. The ‘guide’ was with us for about half an hour in total, showing us the outside and museum style section, without actually showing us the amphitheater (which is what we all came for). Told us to see the rest on our own. No chance to ask questions.

We could tell that our guide, Maria, was passionate about the Colosseum by the way she made certain to touch on as many points possible during our tour. She even carried some books to show us how the Colosseum was originally designed and built, so that we could imagine the extraordinary feat it took to construct the arena and surrounding grounds.

  19. Diane_B

Excellent guide, very knowledgeable ( and funny). Very patient and thorough. Ensured everyone new what they were doing for the 2nd part of the trip

Eni was our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, funny. He encouraged questions about the colosseum. Eni was a great tour guide.
