Our tour guide was okay. If you’re on a time crunch, it’s probably worth it to do a guided tour since you can get a lot of information faster than walking and reading the descriptions of everything, but I wouldn’t book a tour for this again. Maybe it would be worth it to do a guided tour of the colosseum and spend free time in the Roman forum and palatine, but if you have time, I would purchase skip the line entrance but no guided tour.

The best we’ll informed guide. There were only ten of us so we saw some interesting details which a bigger group would not have been able to. I was very impressed with the enormous knowledge our tour guide, Alessio, held on to in his head. Who sat where and the fact that the locals got to claim the carcasses of the dead animals. The colosseum was abandoned for 400 years. So many stories to be told!

The places are gorgeous; the tour definitely skips you the lines for different places in the tour.
That said, we waisted 30min of the tour waiting on the group line for the Palatine Hills entrance which seemed weird. If this was expected, it is definitely not enough time to take photos and enjoy the places inside.
Tour guide presentation of information seemed like an information dump without reasoning or interaction with group; other tour guides at least did so. Also, every once a while a mention for what we missed if we paired extra money to see or that time will not allowed seemed like a bad sentiment even if it was true; and we I know what I reserved already. It was just an emphasis on what we missed which sounded negative!

Skip the line is the only way to go! Others were waiting in long lines for hours to get tickets. Our guide grabbed tickets and a short security check we were in the Colosseum.
Tour guide Daniel was great moved at a manageable pace for everyone. A lot of this tour is in the sun, be prepared with sun hat and water.
