Guide was very nice and kept you entertained. He knew his stuff and even took us to the forum, which wasn’t part of the tour.

  2. Amy_v

Made us tour on our own because they had the wrong tickets for our group so we had no information as we walked around and no access to places we would have if on a tour

  3. Joseph_S

A wonderful tour, a nice pace and very informative. A tour guide was outstanding!! This was our first tour in Rome, would highly recommend!

  4. Charlyne_A

Our first trip to the Colosseum was amazing, thanks to our tour guide Lorenzo. He was very interactive with the group and elevated the entire experience with his wit and knowledge.

  5. Francis_D

Excellent!! Highly recommended. Tour guides really know their stuff!! All the key details captured and a very caring guide took me around.

Awesome tour! Radu was great – very informative and even made it fun. Easy to find the group for the meet-up too. We would definitely recommend!

  7. Aaron_E

We had a wonderful guide who was a retired educator and it was such an educational and fun experience. If you are lucky enough to have Felicity as your guide you will really enjoy your experience.

  8. Denise_O

The tour was exactly where they said they would be, they were on time, organized and our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and kept the tour moving.

  9. Cary_K

We booked the tour because it was too late to get our own tickets. Tour guide was fine/friendly, and then we were happy to left to our own devices and used the Rock Steves audioguide in the Forum

Great Tour. Our guide went on a bit about the little things when really we wanted to get into the Colosseum. We had to cut short our tour due to this tour over running and we need to get to another tour in the afternoon as only in Rome for 1 day.

This was probably the worst tour I have ever been on. I would highly recommend not using this tour company. We had major issues with the tour itself and the company’s customer service. We booked the express English tour.
About the tour itself: our tour guide was Silvia. Her English was terrible and she was extremely difficult to understand because of her poor English and because she spoke very quietly. For an English language tour, I would expect someone who actually knows how to speak English. She also spend a lot of time explaining the 3d models in the Colosseum first floor but hardly any time at all in the part of the Colosseum with the view. She also walked extremely fast and never once looked back to make sure the group of 10ish people were still with her. my family and I had to run to catch up with her. She also didn’t seem to really know what she was doing (at the end of the tour she wasn’t even sure if she should collect our listening devices). About 25 minutes into the tour one couple left because it was so bad. My family and I thought about leaving but decided against it bc the tour guide was supposed to show us into the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill (like the tour description says). Well, we were wrong about that. As soon as she was done explaining things to us, she rushed out of the Colosseum through the exits which had no re-entry. We were not given the “free time inside the Colosseum” as the tour description says. Instead, after we are taken outside the exit, Silvia tells us that she “has to go” but someone would be here in 10 minutes to give us our tour of Palatine Hill/Roman Forum. We thought this was weird because we weren’t supposed to have a tour of those places, we were just supposed to be given tickets to get in. Anyways, we (my group and the rest of the people on the tour) waited around the busy plaza outside the Colosseum. After waiting over 15 minutes no one showed up. At this point some people in the tour left. My group and a few others went to the Palantine Hill entrance and tried to get in with out Viator tour voucher/QR code. They said this wasn’t our ticket and we had to get our tickets from our tour guide. So we all go back to the random spot we were told to wait at. We waited another 5 minutes and no one came. So we left because we had another tour scheduled, other people from our tour left as well. We exited the Colosseum at 11:00 and by 9:25 no one had come. So we never got access to the other parts of this tour.
About the customer service: I contacted the tour company via text about not getting into Palatine Hill/Roman Forum, and the lack of free time in the Colosseum, and they called me. They claimed that we were told to wait until 11:40 for someone to arrive to get us in and that the 40 minutes was our free time. I explained that we were not told this and that we were not given free time in the Colosseum, the “free time” they are claiming we got was waiting around in a plaza with nothing to do and no re-entry into the Colosseum. The guy, Sam or something (not sure who he is, but he wasn’t on the tour with us), told me that I was wrong and that we were clearly told to wait until 11:40. He then said we could come back now (past noon at this point) to get our tickets. I told him we couldn’t because we had another tour scheduled. He then said “ok bye” and hung up. I raised a claim with Viator who also spoke with Sam. Sam lied to Viator and said we were told to wait until 11:40 and gave them the same bs response he gave me. Viator requested a 30% refund on my behalf but this tour company refused it and Viator could not do anything about It nor could I appeal it.
So, on top of our tour guide being terrible, we never got our free time in the Colosseum, we never got access into Palatine Hill or the Roman Forum, and the customer service was incredibly rude, unhelpful, and straight-up lied. I would have been fine with having to wait around for 40 minutes to get into Palatine Hill/Roman Forum even though I booked an express tour for a reason (I also would have made my other tour for later if I knew this was the case) but this was not put in any description on the Viator website, nor was it on the tour voucher we were given, nor was it actually told to us by the tour guide. I’m not even sure why a second person has to come to give us access to Palatine Hill, why couldn’t our Colosseum tour guide do this? All of it was a mess and I would stay away from this tour.

Quite honestly the worst tour we have ever had… completely due to the guide. He was absolutely terrible .. it’s hard to imagine how someone could make the colosseum tour a time to forget but he imparted so little knowledge. I’m sure he is passionate about some things in life but being a tour guide isn’t one of them. It’s the first tour I was ever on that people kept leaving in droves before the end of it. Incredibly disappointing.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative. Tour was longer but better than expected. History came alive.

We specifically booked a short tour that was wheelchair accessible because we had our one year old son in a buggy with us. We hoped for
a short and concise tour within the 1 and a half hour as specified. It went on longer than this so we had to leave before it finished. It also started late and the lady giving the tour led the group from the meeting point down to very big flights of stairs. My husband and I had to frantically lift the baby in the buggy down the stairs rushing to keep up. The tour guide did not check if we were ok or needed help. When we got to the entrance of the colosseum we had lost two members of the group. We realised that it was two elderly ladies, one of whom had a mobility aid. We had chatted to them while waiting for the tour to start. We informed the tour guide that the ladies were missing and that we must have lost them at the stairs. She shrugged.(!)
We also found that the information given was very basic and that the tour guide repeated the same info over and over.
I would recommend skipping the guided tour and visiting the colosseum yourself

Fast paced, express tour, which is what I prefer! Our guide was great. Would highly recommend this tour!

My family did this your when we were in Rome for a day while on a Mediterranean cruise. Enjoyed the tour. Very informative. Great way to see the Colosseum when we didn’t have a lot of time. Small wait to get in but nothing compared to if we didn’t do this tour.

  19. Dwight_B

The colosseum was great. The 45 minute wait standing in the sun was brutal! The tour took 3 hours and was exhausting.

  20. Megan_V

Alex was a friendly and knowledgeable guide! The tour was clear and well paced; Alex picked good stories and history to share. An excellent experience 🙂
