We did not have the best experience. We had trouble getting to the office due to a mix up with the train. I called the office they told us to stay at the station we were at and the driver would come and get us. We were told to be at the front of the station WHICH we did. After 30 minutes I called the office again and they said the driver could not find us. I told them where we were. The driver Peterwas very upset and rude to us and it was very uncomfortable. We got to the vehicle and he was not very friendly and did not tell us much on the drive. He also did not have us introduce ourselves or the other people introduce themselves. I understand we were late however the office told us to stay where we were and we were at the place they told us to be. I also felt it was unprofessional to have the driver using his phone when he was driving. He was looking down at his phone frequently, which I think is not safe. We also were cold and he did ask if the temperature was ok we said no and he did not know how to turn to warmer it got colder and we had to help him get it turned correctly. The castle was awesome!! One of the ladies guestioned about Rothenberg and made it clean she wanted to be able to see the city and shop, we were told do not worry you will and have supper. We DID NOT get to rothenberg in time to have supper and only 2 stores were open this was very disappointing when it made it sound like we would have time in Rothenberg to do those things. For the amount of money it cost I feel we paid too much for what we got. It said we would not have to stand and waitin line we would get to go ahead of the line and we did not!! I feel we should get a refund. I have been in many Vivator trips and they have been very good! I talked my friend into doing this tour, we could of drove ourselves and bought the castle ticket and we would of been able to spend time in Rothenberg earlier and enjoyed the town.

My sister, niece and I were just in Frankfurt a couple of weeks ago and the Neuschwanstein Castle was the top of our must see list! It is a bit of a drive but the time went by so fast thanks to our wonderful tour guide Jack! We stopped on the way to the beautiful Rothenburg at the Christmas Market for some shopping and pictures of the amazing architecture. On to Neuschwantein Castle which is like seeing a picture out of a fairy tale book. It is quite amazing and the village and location of the castle are equally beautiful. Since we were there in the winter there was some snow and a hike from the bottom of the drive to the top. They do have some horse drawn carriage rides to take you to the top but we walked. The actual tour of the castle isn’t as long as we expected but it was well worth seeing. The whole tour would not have been near as enjoyable had we not had a wonderful guide. Jack is so knowledgeable and entertaining the trip went went by in a flash! If you are going to take this tour I highly recommend that you ask for Jack to be your guide.

Great itinerary although Rothenburg is a lovely well-preserved medieval city deserving more than an hour stop-over! The way to Neuschwanstein was way too long from Frankfurt – over 4-hour drive one-way, the drive on a German highway was a bit scary since no speed limit in some places hence up to 160 jumper hour at times!, but we had an experienced driver and guide. The walk up to the castle itself was a bit unexpected 30 min one way or so, so you better be ready for it !!

I was in Frankfurt for business and decided to take this tour at the end of my stay. It is so worth the cost and is an amazing day! Our tour guide, Thomas, was extremely knowledgable and eager to share Germany with us. We had a group of 5 in a mini-bus. Rothenburg is so worth seeing and exploring – I wish we had more time there but we had to move on to make our tour at the castle. Approaching the castle was fantastic with a view of the Alps. Unfortunately, we experienced some heavy rain the moment we arrived. But there wasn’t much to do but continue forth with our plans. So though we were cold and wet and had limited ability to take photos outdoors, this was a fantastic visit.
If you do this tour – bring snacks and water Thomas did have a sandwich for us but you need to be ready if that is not a common practice and wear sturdy shoes ! and if there is any chance of rain, bring proper attire and/or an umbrella. There is a lot of walking no matter how you cut it – the bus can only take you so far on the castle grounds. It’s a long day so be prepared.

If you have a chance to book a private trip for 2, please do it!! Nothing like being driven on the Autobahn in a Mercedes.

This is a long day, but SO worth it! The castle is set amongst the German Alps and is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable too. There was only two of us so we got a private car instead of a bus. The ride on the Autobahn was awesome too! I wish the time in Rothenburg was a little longer. Highly recommend this tour though!

The castle tour was perfect, all went according to plan. But the Rothenburg tour could have been organized a bit better like where to go and all. I found a great church on my own which had some wood carvings of the last supper if I’m not mistaken. I heard one tour leader saying it had an interesting history. But when I asked our guide, he didnt even know the name of the church. He was a nice and polite guide, but the local company could do a little more research and inform us better. We came back on time and everything else was organized nicely.

Would recommend this trip and company. The driver/guide – Thomas Heep – is a walking encyclopedia of information who also drives very safely. Trip from Frankfurt is a bit long as it covers two locations but the driver/car combination made it seem short. The castle was magical while the town has a lot of character. Wish this company also operated in the Black Forest area as there is a dearth of good operators there.

Worst tour I have ever taken. First off, Million, our tour guide did not introduce himself to us (we had to ask halfway through the trip) and literally did not speak the entire time. It was a 4.5 hour car ride to the castle and he literally said NOTHING – no information about where we were going, history about places we were going to, or the schedule of the trip (not even how long the drive was.) It was terrible. We sat in the car for over 10 hours!!!! And we only got about ONE HOUR at the castle and ONE HOUR at Rothenburg. It was literally the biggest waste of my money. Places were cool but it was a shame you paid all that money to only stay there for an hour at each place. I would not call this a tour. Wish i could get my money back. Do yourself a favor, save some money and do not book this tour.

Though a bit pricey and hectic (covering two attractions), the trip was overall excellent. The air conditioned car was very good and the guide cum driver, Thomas Heep, was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Highly recommended if you are short of time and want to fit in the maximum on a day.
Wish this company operated in the Black Forest area also where there is a dearth of such professional operators.

Guide was personable and friendly. Enjoyed the trip. Wish the timeline could have given us more time in Rothenburg. But know it couldn’t be. Love the visit in a beautiful area of Germany. The Castle was too short of tour, I have been there before and wish we could have seen the ball room.
The kitchen was a plus. Not your fault, the weather was hot, hot, hot.
Had a good time.

Long day, but well worth the trip! Our driver safely brought us to two tourist locations. He knew the back roads & special locations to get the best picture!

Worth to go though it needs a long way travel from Frankfurt! Friendly tour guide and good time management.

Our tour guide is Sebastian. He kept saying how great he was (e.g., he was the best tour guide, he was so intelligent, he did us flavors, he was so fit …), but didn’t give much tour guide (such as information of the attraction) at all. We were basically on our own to look for where to go at both Rothenburg and Neuschwanstein Castle. He changed our itinerary and schedule without explanation.

I was a single traveler looking to extend a business trip in Germany. I completely enjoyed this tour. Very knowledgeable guide on the castle and Rothenburg. I wanted a full day to see the countryside. I very much enjoyed my day and glad I booked this trip. Keep in mind it is all day, 8:30 am to 10 pm.
Gary_T –
This was a great trip. It is about 4 hours each way there. Our group was only three people, Myself, my wife, and one other. We had Sebastian as our driver and were in a Mercedes car. We were a little worried from the previous reviews about time and being rushed. We had plenty of time. We stopped at Rothenberg on the way to the castle. I liked this better than after. The castle has a long walk up a steep hill, not ADA friendly. There is a bus and horse option; however you still have about a 10 minute walk past where they can go. We are not ADA but thought this is good to know,

We had an amazing trip to Rothenburg and Neuschwanstein castle with our tour guide Thomas. It was just my husband and myself and Thomas was a wealth of knowledge and a pure delight. Thomas showed us where the locals like to hang out and made sure we got time for the best photo ops. We enjoyed every part of our day and if you go, ask for Thomas. He was great!
Alvaro_R –
It is not what they say, you are hiring a driver (hugh profesional, no problems with the driver) not a guide. I reach there and I had to wait in a Hotel reception around 3 hours before I get the entrance, and the entrance time was still 2 hours in advance, So I lost 5 hours of the trip just waiting plus 8 hours travel means that I lost 13 hours of the trip and just enjoyed one in the castle.
Of course, forget about going to Rothenburg, we where completely out of time by thime I leave the castle.
I paid almost 300€, for a one hour visit worth 12€, so the trip costs me 288, for this price I could have gone to Munich, book an Hotel room and make the trip from there.
If you want to go, go from Munich, this is a fraud.

Our tour guide, Ken was professional, knowledgeable and absolute pleasure to spend the day with. It was a long trip but worth every penny. The sites of the castles and Rothenburg are like nothing you’ve ever seen. I definitely recommend it!
husker6873 –
Long trip, but driver Ken was excellent telling us facts and some history. We also stopped in Rotthenberg on the way back and ate dinner at a fantastic little German restaurant
