Jack, our tour guide, was excellent. On the way to Rothenburg from Frankfurt he gave us a ton of information both on Frankfurt and the surrounding area. The tour of Rothenburg was fast, but we loved having the opportunity to explore and eat some of the local food. Rothenburg itself is a must visit While it’s definitely a touristy town, I can understand why. The buildings are so beautiful and there are a variety of shops worth visiting.
The drive was 2 hours in a small van. The tour groups don’t get larger than 8 people, and they provide you with bottles of water and sandwiches, which I wasn’t expecting.

Nice city.. amazing experience if you love Middle Age issues. Price is a little expensive considering that is just the transport and a brief introduction to history about village.. All travel was through Fast AutoBahn taking every journey to and from about 2 hours… About 4 hours spent travelling.

I ended up doing the nueschwanstein and Rothenburg day tour and it was phenomenal. Peter (older gentleman) was our guide and since there were only 3 of us we were able to travel in a very nice, new, and clean Mercedes! Peter was a great guide and very knowledgeable. I had an amazing trip!

Add says see the country side – All travel was through Fast AutoBahn taking every journey to and from about 2 hours… About 4 hours spent travelling.
Add says total tour is 9 hours – they were late – left 15 min late, then stopped for fuel, so reached Rothenburg time for lunch, then tour guide said to meet at 3:30 to head back – so our total time was 7 1/2 hours vs the 9. and two hours were in the museum, then time for lunch, so not much time to see the city. Tourist information closed at 1pm and no one told us when we got there they were closed and we had questions – when leaving we saw the grave yard – no one told us – we went to track my wife’s family tree –
Tour guide was very friendly – talked on the way, and paid our way into the Mid Evil Museum – so not really a tour just a ride there and back. – he did suggest a place to eat that was good, and showed us a bakery that was good.

1.5-2 hour drive but worth it to see medieval walled city. We arrived a few weeks too early for Famous Christmas Market which apparent is not to be missed. Only 6 of us along with very nice and knowledgeable tour guide who really went out of his way to assure we all had a wonderful time.

Thomas was great – we had plenty of time to walk around by ourselves and with the group. It was also a small group and that helped.

My mom and I took this tour as a one day trip. The guide was excellent. We were free to do whatever we wanted for 2-3 hours. The was my second trip to Rothenburg…..never disappoints.

This was our favorite day trip during our trip to Germany. George was a super knowledgeable guide. The drive to the town was beautiful and George showed us some beautiful stops on the way including a stunning church in different little town. Rothenburg is a small town but really beautiful. I would recommend trying the snowballs and then go to the butcher on the main street and get a sausage for lunch. They were so delicious. George recommended the butcher to us on our tour through the town. The Christmas market was one of our favorites in Germany as well. There were really nice people and great stalls. Also visit the popular Christmas store on the main street, you can’t miss it. It is the most extensive, impressive Christmas store I’ve ever seen. We got back to Frankfurt around 7pm. It was a great day.

Peter our tour guide did not offer much insight/commentary in the van to or from Rothenberg about much of anything and also did not provide a lot of knowledge on the sights we saw in Rothenberg. Example: as we were leaving the one church we visited I asked what is name of church again? and he had to go look at the sign on the building (I could have done that myself). He does not know small details let alone the name of buildings on the tour! The tour description itself indicated we could choose to see the one larger church in the town or go to the torture museum, but Peter was not going to give us a choice and was planning on just taking us to the church until several of us complained we wanted a choice to see the torture museum. The tour should probably NOT go to Rothenberg on Sundays as majority of stores are closed –or at least tell people in description everything is closed ahead of time so they can choose NOT to take tour on a Sunday if this is important. It was important to me as there are really great Christmas shops in this town and I was really disappointed to see EVERYTHING CLOSED on SUNDAY except the torture museum, a bakery and maybe one or two restaurants open –despite the fact that Rothenberg is a huge tourist attraction. Giving each person one sandwich (bread, pickle and cream cheese sandwich) and one bottle of water was a nice thing to do since we were starving—however, a better idea would be to have a meal in Rothenberg which if on a Sun. would have to be set up by the tour since most places were closed.

Excellent Trip. The view of the old city and the surrounding road was breath taking. Peter was knowledgeable and knows every inch of the city. He is very nice. Really enjoyed the trip. There was no one in the tour but the Company still go ahead with the tour and not cancel the tour. Very recommended!!

Peter. (Guide), was quite nice. Put audible mic ,in the vans. Remind passengers about seat belts. Oh. Thank you for our speedy ride on the autobahn

Tour guide Peter was simply an amazing gentleman and very knowledgeable about Rothenburgh. A must see place. Returning from Rothenburgh, he took us through the romantic street, which itself was an amazing experience.

Our lovely host, George, met us in Frankfurt where we started our journey. He gave us the option of driving straight to Rothenburg ob de Tauber or driving through the countryside, making a couple of stops. We are so glad we chose the countryside with stops. George took us to the most beautiful church and a small, charming village on the way to Rothenburg. This meant we spent a bit less time in Rothenburg, but we still felt we had enough time there.
Rothenburg ob de Tauber is like walking through a fairytale storybook.
We learned so much from George about the past and present. He made the day very special for us. We will never forget George, our charming ambassador of Germany!

George is a seasoned and very knowledgeable tour guide. The system of the tour is very balanced and has great free time to enjoy the area and take photos. It was a very good tour with George as the guide.

The city of Rothenburg is pretty itself but the way the guide tour urged all guests to tip him at the end of the trip was so impolite and so disgusted.

Boris was a outstanding guide, very knowledgeable & engaging throughout!! We had a wonderful experience in an awesome town!

  21. NIRAV_D

Nice small town – Good old buildings around a century old – the tour Guide Peter who was also an excellent driver was very patient & covered every little part including the wonderful church on the way back in spite on the 2-3 hour delay due to road accident jam on way.
