The castle was wonderful. However, there were several problems with the tour. Instead of a luxury air-conditioned coach, four of us plus the driver were crammed into a car, with my adult daughter sitting in the middle of the back seat, which had a large hump running through the floor, for a 1-1/2 hour ride on a tour for which we paid over 200 apiece. Secondly, it turned out that one of the people in the car was not supposed to be on that tour. About half an hour out of the city she asked if this was the city tour. The driver berated her for not realizing sooner that it was the wrong tour, said it was too late to turn around and that she would have to pay the difference in price, about 200 euros, in cash, which she said she did not have with her. I pointed out that it was his responsibility to have checked the tickets and my daughter suggested that we take the woman to the airport, which we had just passed, where she could get the train back to the city. That is what we did, although the driver continued to complain about how inconvenient this was. The last straw was when we arrived at the restaurant for dinner. Both my daughter and I and the other woman on the tour had done a Rhine River cruise that included dinner earlier in the week, and we both had asked before we booked both tours whether the dinners would be at different places. We had been assured that they would be. However, we went to the same restaurant. To make matters worse, the first dinner was roasted chicken with french fries, not exactly a German delicacy, and the second was pork schnitzel, somewhat more German, but still with french fries. I would describe either as the German delicacies referred to in the tour description. The driver contacted his manager, who claimed not to know anything about it and refused to pay for us to go to a different restaurant. I have done many tours with Viator, but if this had been my first Viator experience I probably would not book through you again.

The guide, Peter R, did a nice job of explaining the history, wine and beer industry, scenes etc. He drove a little fast for our American comfort, but perhaps that is the German way. The castle was impressive. Make sure you take the hiking path a scenic walk through the forest, turn a corner and suddenly the castle comes into view. We spent perhaps 1 1/2 hours on the guided tour plus some free time in the castle. The dinner included in the trip was underwhelming…the soup was great but downhill from there. A stereotypical German dinner of too much grease and not enough flavor.

The Eltz castle is a very interesting destination. We would be better to spent more time on Rhine Valley in the afternoon.

One of the best tours I have ever experienced. Me and my husband did the Eltz Castle tour on Sept 29 with the local tour operator via Viator. Our tour guide Peter Remus was very friendly, kind and knowledgeable. He toured us from Frankfurt to the Eltz Castle and around the beautiful surrounding areas. Excellent tour! Highly recommended. Peter, keep up the good work Lani and Chris

Diamond in the rough! Not many people know about this place, so it’s a great not crowded tour!

Beautiful setting for castle. Glad I got to see. Our driver, Thomas, was very nice and knowledgable which made the trip even better.

We had a private limousine for only 2 of us. Our guide Thomas was very nice and knowledgeable. The leisure walk from the car park to the castle was beautiful. Eltz Castle is beautiful and is not crowded. Our dinner at the restaurant was good, love the ice wine!

From earlier reviews we knew that our group may be small. My wife, Thomas our guide, and I had a great tour. Obviously we had a very personalized Thomas a great guide and hit on probably more points than would normally be covered. The conversations covered much German history beside evolving into many other subjects. Time flew on the tour and the entire day was very enjoyable including our meal and other stops.

Had a fantastic day at Eltz Castle. Our guide Jorge was very informative and made sure we were looked after. A delicious 3 course meal at a restaurant by the Rhine River topped it off. Highly recommend this tour. Jorge dropped us off at our hotel even though it was a bit out of his way. Money well spent.

This is a beautiful and well maintained Castle. Unless you like long uphill walks, a shuttle is available to get you within a short walk to the Castle Tour starting point. The guides set a pace that allows one to walk and climb the spiral stairs comfortably. A Cafe is available for snacks and meals.
I would have like a more varied menu for the Rhine River Dinner considering the tour price. I thought I would be able to look out over the river. Instead, the River is below eye sight so it might as well have been dinner by a sidewalk.

Amazing tour… amazing travel through Mosel River Valley, to know Eltz Castle, walk into Eltz Forest and dinning in a very nice restaurant seeing Rhine River.. Including pass into your car using Ferry boat crossing Rhine… Wonderful experience for my entire family.. Kids were interested at all.

This was the worst tour I have ever gone on with Viator. The scenery on the Rhine is beautiful and the Eltz Castle is magnificent, but the tour operator ETS Greenline Frankfurt was awful. The guide was a con man from the start and was always trying to take to other places, at a cost of course. He drove like a madman on very curvy roads and did not commentary about what we were seeing, or what our itinerary was. Choose a different company while in Frankfurt, there are many to choose from, and enjoy what Germany has to offer.

There were just 3 of us on a ride. Everything were very comfortable and the tour itself very pleasant and fun.

Got to spend time at the eltz castle, I was the only one to sign up so got a private tour. The only bad part wish I had more time at the castles seemed rushed to make sure we got to the free dinner..which was horrible as a chef I would be embarrassed to serve any of the food it is in a crazy tacky restaurant they charge you 5.80 euro for tap water..I saw the people from the tour office all there so they have a deal with the owner…worst food I had in germany by far..they should skip the dinner people want to see castles not horrid food in a tacky setting

Terrible, they cancel the tour and let me know until the last minute. I wasted my days. My only purpose to flight to Frankfurt was to take this tour. It is better to rent a car and visit the castle on your own

Suggest adding extra castle right before the Eltz Castle as it is on the way.

It was a wonderful experience that I had with ETS Greenline Tours.
Starting with the booking, I was the only person booked the tour as others cancelled last minute and this long distance tour can only be run with minimum 4 people however the tour manager Mr. Sehr made the exception to still run it exclusively for me because I have travelled all the way from Australia to Frankfurt only to visit this Castle.
The experience at Eltz Castle was great and very informative with great history stories. My driver for the tour, Mike, was very friendly and accommodating. He didn’t pressured me with time when I spent extra time at the castle because I loved it so much. The entire trip was a very comfortable one with Mike and the luxury vehicle.
Another great highlight of the tour was Restaurant Zum Anker that we stopped at for a meal on the way back. It has great view of the Rhine river and the food was really delicious. What surprised me the most was the unique interior of the restaurant, it’s something I have never seen before, very cozy but mysterious like you went back in time or in a movie. The staff and Mr. Sehr greeted me at the restaurant and gave me a really warm welcome. He walked me to different parts of the restaurant and we had great conversations.
Thank you Mr. Sehr, Mike and ETS for giving me such a special and memorable experience! Highly recommend this tour to everyone!
