Driver was very knowledgeable of everything we saw and gave us his own opinion of politics and policies.
Very nice and gave us time to explore a little on our own

2 palaces in one time. Both are must go in Sintra. Explore them and you won’t regret it.
Driver (also our guide) was super friendly, care about us very much.

We had the most wonderful time on this tour!! Jose was a spectacular guide, filling the drive as well as all of our tour spots with plenty of really interesting information and Portuguese history! We came on a very foggy day so Jose was quick to adjust the itinerary in the hopes that the weather would clear up by the time we were at Peña Palace (so we could get a good view!).
First we went into Sintra where we got some delicious pastries and coffee before we walked to our first stop, Regaleira Palace.
Regaleira was incredible. We are so glad that we did this tour because otherwise we would never have explored that beautiful palace and its grounds. Jose walked us through and gave us informative and entertaining history at every location with plenty of free time to walk around on our own. Despite the rain we had a lovely morning in the stunning palace and surrounding gardens and Jose picked us up directly from the palace exit which was very convenient!
Next we went to Cabo de Roca, “the end of the world”, and again enjoyed learning from Jose on the drive over. We then went to Caiscais and upon Jose’s recommendation the whole group found ourselves at O Pescador! A fantastic seafood restaurant, we had probably the freshest sea bass we’ll ever have in our lives fileted right in front of us. We then followed that up with some delicious Santini gelato and a walk around town.
Afterwards, we returned to Sintra to tour Pena Palace. Unfortunately, the fog had not cleared but we still had a great walk around and learned even more about Portugal’s fascinating history! Thank you Jose!!

We enjoyed our tour very much. Our guide Jose was very helpful teaching us about the rich history of Portugal as we explored the different areas of Sintra.

  6. Laura_S

Luis was prompt, polite and extremely knowledgeable about the history not only of Portugal but all of Europe. He provided a rich and detailed narrative of Sintra in both English and Italian, as we were a multilingual group. The only upgrade would have been to allow more free time in Sintra and Caiscas – beautiful areas with lots to explore!

My friend and I truly enjoyed our Sintra small group experience. We met some great people from other countries and our tour guide, Diogo was absolutely amazing. He was passionate about the history and gave everyone individual attention. We knew what was happening and when and in addition to all the history sharing, we had ample time to enjoy the sights on our own. Diogo brought a lot of energy and made our tour really enjoyable and interactive experience. We recommend this tour and please ask for Diogo!

We loved the beautiful scenery and the history that was so eloquently related to us by our guide Vasco.

Viator company, guide/ driver/ great guy Diego, amazing sunny day and the palace and surroundings are more than we anticipated. A must visit. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in Sintra because of all of them made it happen for us

  11. Charles_H

Diogo our guide was the best. He was fun, patient, experienced and new the history of all the places.

  12. Noushin_H

Great tour. Small group of 7, Diego was a great guide. The van was new and clean. Definitely recommended.
    Thanks Diego and Tour operator.

Our tour guide was André Feldman…funny, kind, informative and took great care of everybody. He really did make this busy day well worth it! Lots of recommendations for things to see, eat and gelato stops. We would highly recommend this tour. You pack a lot in but with a tour you are in first thing at Peña Palace so avoid the massive queues. Lunch at Sintra and then off to the coast which is wild and beautiful. We were graced with fantastic weather and could see for miles.

  14. Eugenia_L

The experience was brought life by the outstanding guide,Andre Feldman. He was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining and personalized the trip to each person. The tour was excellent but made extraordinary by Mr Feldman.

  15. Lynn_W

We had an excellent day on this trip. Our tour guide was excellent he gave so much information and was very helpful.

Older van that had better days. Our guide was really just a driver. Minimal information and then he was unable to accompany us inside the Peña palace so zero info. I would book w a different company. He spoke back to some of the customers and kept saying how there was too much tourism, if he had his voice we would not go the Peña palace as there were better palaces in Sinatra. Just negative feedback. We bumped another van as he drove recklessly part of the time. Peña is worth visiting but but your ticket beforehand as we had been asked to do. Also get there early as queues whether you have a ticket or not can be up to 2 hours and they scan the ticket three times so separate queues each time. I would recommend taking a tour as the palace is an hour walk from the station but if your just going to sintra and want to see a palace closer it makes no sense. Pick up and drop off were done seamlessly

The Peña Palace was of course, was the highlight location, but our guide and driver Vasco was friendly, helpful and informative and told us about many interesting things throughout the drive. Also he was an excellent driver. The timing and organisation was was great and provided just the right amount of time at each stop. Thoroughly recommended.

Jose our tour guide made adjustments on our schedule because of problem with opening of Sintra. Our route is to be at Sintra around 10 am but it was closed , so Jose rerouted our schedule putting Sintra last in the afternoon. That was a good smart
decision because by the time we were almost finished with our route, he found out that Sintra is now open. We were able to see Sintra, the main focus of our trip.

We loved the tour Diogo was a great guide! The castle was beautiful and we loved walking around the city.

  20. Julie_C

I sign up for tours for history and related stories and our guide was more informal. Very nice though! Also, the description mentioned a Moorish castle but it was really just pointed out. The drive to two beach views and a beach town was nice but perhaps not worth limited time in holiday.
