The meeting point is so difficult to find. No one heard of tour guide and we paid $150 and we ask for a refund because we never went on tour. We had to go back the next day to only pay 30 in euros each and it was amazing.

My tour guide was fine and she did a great job but I felt that the experience as a whole was disorganized. We started late because there were difficulties checking people in (not the tour guide’s fault). The tour guide was required to take a picture of everyone’s booking confirmation which I thought was unnecessary. The meeting spot was hard to find so people were late or got lost. Also due to the weather, the tour was an ok experience and we had to cut things short.
Andrew_B –
Being turned away at the entrance as there was not enough tickets for our group even though I had booked online and paid in advance. Disgraceful, still no apology or refund. Avoid this company like the plague.
Shane_F –
The only thing a tour company has to do is have the tour guide show up. This company failed to do that and also failed to notify anyone in advance that it was cancelled. Don’t risk it. Just choose a different company.
Milla_P –
We showed up and was told that this company had only limited amount of tickets, a lot of people got left in cold or should I say hot sun. Not sure how they selected who was given the tickets but They did not have our tickets! Terrible experience!!!
Robin_E –
Very knowledgeable and experienced guide, the key to any good tour. Easy meet up, group was reasonably sized.

Our experience through Viator was frustrating and disappointing. Firstly you changed the time of the tour, then you changed the date. With less than 24 hours notice it was impossible. We ended up agreeing to another date change (which was only possible because Viator cancelled our booked tour of Vatican City). On arriving to meet the tour guide they had no knowledge of us being recipients of a change of date, there were not enough headsets or earphones for us and 5 other people also affected, no tickets for entry and we had to send a message ourselves back to Viator to get it sorted. The tour guide was clearly stressed and annoyed. On another young man arriving we were still short of headsets and not enough tickets. Then the group got split up at the entry point to the colosseum because of a lack of tickets. When we finally had tickets and tried to present our ticket it was rejected as it was the wrong time and date. We were told by security to “ring the police” because it was not valid. When we finally got given a ticket that was valid we were 45mins late starting the tour. We were two people amongst another 5 also affected. But it affected all people in tue group with the chaos, delays and confusion. The group was split up to get entry and families were split and took some time to find our guide and each other. It was chaos and stressful and very poor management and organisation by Viator.
The tour guide herself was knowledgeable and did a good tour. However our experience with Viator has impacted our trip to Rome with all this confusion and missing out on our trip to Vatican City and we would never recommend Viator to anyone again. There was no apology or acknowledgment of responsibility for the chaos by the representatives trying to sort it out and we would be keen to hear from Viator as to why we had to endure such chaos when we paid for these trips some months ago and had confirmation. Very disappointed

First it was very hard to find the guide. They had a very small sign with the company’s name. Then there was a lot of arguments because some people that booked the trip and had already paid for it could not come because they didn’t have enough tickets. This is completely unacceptable. We were lucky that they had tickets for us. Then the guide seemed a bit rushed and we finished the tour one hour earlier. I WOULD SAY AVOID THEM AT ALL COST AS YOU DON’T KNOW IF YOU ARE REALLY GOING TO TAKE THE TOUR OR NOT.
Rachel_S –
this was fine but not great. It started late (they waited for latecomers, which I guess I’d have appreciated if I was the one who was late), and finished early so it was only about 2 hours not three in the end. The narrative told as we went around was only moderately interesting – I’ve been on other tours that have been really fascinating, but this wasn’t. Given that it was walking around the Colosseum I was expecting more. That said, the guide was organised and professional, hence on balance I’m giving 3/5

They canceled less than 24 hours notice 😞
Also, they take their time replying to messages.
Never answered my question of rebooking.
Christina_H –
Meeting spot super close to attraction. They seemed super sketchy about my kids, even though I provided ages…and there were a ton of kids on the inside.
Colosseum part was good. After that we did the Roman Form, but we actually didn’t even do the full tour. Many people decided to leave, as it was super hot, and there is very little shade. The guide kept saying, I understand if you just want to get going, because the rest of the time will be in the sun… and we ended up touring a small other area, and the tour just ended.
I would recommend the colosseum for sure, but we didn’t get what we paid for….disappointing for sure.
Shelbie_S –
Arrived at meeting point to be informed they had issues and no tour guide was available. They ended up refunding half of our price and provided tickets to get into the colosseum. We did not get to see the other 3 destinations.
Cynthia_Y –
The tour was canceled last minute. We were offered a 50% return on money and we’re able to use ticket to get into the coliseum but no tour and no other parts were canceled totally. Don’t book this one.
Ashley_C –
Our tour was cancelled with no advanced notice. We had a booked the tour for our last day in Rome. We showed up to the meeting point and from the beginning it was chaos. There were many other companies at the same meeting point and we had trouble finding our group. The tour operator had no sign or any way of identifying themselves. We had to ask for assistance from other companies to locate the company we had booked with. When we did find the tour company they informed us our tour had been cancelled. They did give us an option for a refund or to go on the tour without a guide and receive a 50% refund. Because it was our last day in Rome we chose to go without the guide. What made me angry is that the company gave us a copy of our ticket to enter and on that ticket it gave the cost of the ticket which was roughly $17 Euros. WIth the 50% refund the company was still making money from us even though they did not provide any service. I feel this is not ethical.

A very good tour but it is quite a trek and some of the Group ( 20 people) found it difficult.
The guide did a good job chivying them along but it was not suitable for them.
It meant the walk between places took a lonnnnng time.
Great trip but make sure you are up for the stairs, the hills and the distance 5 miles.
We all loved it

We enjoyed this tour it was great to have a guide with us as we walked through parts of the city Alfredo (our guide) was very knowledgeable and shared lots of details at each stop and along the way. The skip the line is worth it on its own the lines are very long during summer season.
Agnes_K –
Skip the line is a must to avoid standing in line for hours. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history and took his time to show us the the most beautiful remains of history. I would recommend this tour.
Laurie_D –
I believe our guide was Alfredo – see photo. I called him “New York Alfredo” because of his NY city hat! He was VERY good and Very knowledgeable and super friendly and kind. He waited up for my friend several times during the tour who was having a very challenging time with all the walking. We did several tours through Viator on our trip and the app works great with good info for describing the tours and clear info on where to meet.

This was the most fustrating experience anyone could have encountered. Tickets were purchased (and my credit card charged) over 2 months prior to our visit to Colosseum. On the afternoon prior to our event I received a What’s Up from who I suppose was the Tour guide. All the individual could tell me is that our tour had been cancelled. It is quite upsetting that you are traveling to another country to visit the focal points and at the last minute it gets cancelled. At no moment did they try helping us out either by somehow providing the tickets or have us join another group. The day I booked the tour at the same time my credit card was charged. There is no disclaimer on the your website stating that there is a possibility that tour may be cancelled. The truth is that we left Rome with a very sour taste. We were visiting from the States. Rest assure that I will not be using your site ever again to book any of my tours and definitely will not recommend your site to anyone either!

With zero experience in guided tours and high expectations of the Colosseum and Roman Forum, I can honestly say that this could not have gone any better. Gil was enthusiastic, brought books with pictures of what things used to look like back in the day, and shared (apart from the history and fun facts of things) a lot of “how it must have felt to…” things to think about when wandering and exploring. The one thing we learned about tours: bring your own snacks and enough water, it was 30 degrees outside when we went and we ran out of our one small water bottle rather quickly. Do not expect any shops when you’re here.
