Outstanding tour! I did a Colosseum/Form tour in 2016, but this tour was 1000 times better. Why? – our guide Simona. Best tour guide I have ever had (more on her below).
We did have an issue with Get Your Guide. I booked the Colosseum-Forum tour for Nov. 14.. On Nov. 11, I chatted with Get Your Guide to see if we could also book Pompeii for Nov. 13. There were no available Pompeii tours. Long story short, Get Your Guide switched our Colosseum tour to Nov. 13, I bought train tickets to Pompeii for Nov. 14 to visit on our own. We arrived at the Colosseum on Nov. 13 only to be told Get Your Guide is not allowed to switch tours (they are a booking agent and it is local son the ground delivering the actual tours) and we had to come back on the 14th. So I lost money on our train tickets and we lost our one chance to visit Pompeii. Get Your Guide did not resolve this to my satisfaction, so although our Colosseum tour was outstanding, I probably won’t book with Get Your Guide again.

We did the joint Roman Forum/Colosseum Tour, with the additional underground portion of the Colosseum. We had a guided tour, and it was worth every penny. That was a wealth of information that we never would have gotten by simply exploring the sites by ourselves. The Roman Forum was fascinating, walking through what was essentially downtown Rome of 2000 years ago.
The Colosseum is massive, and its amazing to think that it’s essentially the same design as modern stadiums. They are doing a wonderful job of restoring portions of it, and I think it will be fascinating once they have the floor finished– but get into the underground tour soon, because when they finish the main floor, that option will probably be gone.

This was a fantastic experience. The tour was well organized. Having a guide with a doctorate in archaeology really raised the bar. Guide spoke excellent English, provided lots of historical details in an interesting fashion. Kept everyone very engaged. I had doubts visiting the underground with young kids based on other reviews I had read, but highly recommend visiting. Skipping the line even with a less(er) November crowd was a big plus.
