Booking a tour in advance comes with risks, like torrential downpours, and thunder. Which is how we toured the Coliseum this week. Shoes and socks soaked through within 10 minutes, wind and rain whipping so hard we could barely hear the guide with our radios turned all the way up…and we still LOVED it. What an amazing, awe-inspiring experience. Our guide gave us so much great info, and was seriously trying so hard to make it a great tour despite the unfortunate weather. We’d recommend going to see this if you’re ever in Rome, and do it with a guide so you get all the history and background information that you just can’t get from movies or internet info. Seeing, touching, and immersing yourself in this wonder is well worth the money. Also, great pizza around the corner – with wine, of course, because…when in Rome!

Very much enjoyed the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable, pleasant, personable and respectful of her tourists. She took her time walking keeping the pace steady but manageable allowing time for pictures and questions. The addition of pictures added to her info. Appreciated very much that the tour was delayed slightly until we were able to find the rendezvous point as we got lost getting there. The phone number provided helped us tremendously. The Coliseum itself was spectacular and so interesting even though it going through some major renovations. Definitely worth visiting. Strongly recommend a tour guide to get the most out of it.

I wish this survey had come earlier. Our tour guide’s name started with “F” and I cannot remember her name to save my life. She is also an archaeologist. That is unfortunate because she was INCREDIBLE! She was entertaining, informative, and funny. She was equally engaged with everyone in our tour group. Our visit to the colosseum and the tour would not have been the same without her. We learned so much and had a fantastic time.
