the sites of scotland were fantastic. the driver not so much. He was an american and had a lot of not so nice things to say about scotland. he also spent a lot of time flirting with young girls on the trip. when cars would not follow driving rules he let go a string of profanity that made the ENTIRE bus go quiet for some time.
He took us to the fairy hills and did a ritual he said was to the gods…..turns out it was a joke to the men that he could control all the women and they should learn from him.
I will NEVER do another trip with this company. I have never been so uncomfortable with a tour guide think dirty old man before. Spending 3 days with a guy like that was not a fun trip. I tried to enjoy the sites and places he took us to.
Get him to clean up his act or can him.

The tour itself was amazing. We very much enjoyed our driver, the bus and our accomations. We did have issues with communication from viator to the tour company that ran the trip. When we arrived at our B and B they did not have our name on the list. We requested a double and got two twins.

BEST TOUR EVER!! Tommy was an awesome guide! Isle of Skye had to be one of the most magical places I had ever been. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  4. Robina Q

The tour was amazing because it’s the Highlands of course but also because of our guide, James!!! James is Exceptionally knowledgeable about the Highland history and spoke slowly and eloquently so that those of us thave trouble understanding different accents, could keep up with him! Thank you again!

3-Day Isle of Skye and Highlands Tour from Edinburgh
    Driver / Guide: Andrew
Booked through: Viator a Trip Advisor company
    Tour Operator: Highland experience tours
    02-04 May 20118
The tour itself was awesome. The scenery and locations visited were amazing, The tour bus was good – comfortable, the B and B accommodations were great, and our Driver / Guide Andrew was very. knowledgeable, a true story-teller, he made the tour a truly amazing experience.
We did have issues with communication from Viator to the Tour Operator that ran the trip. When we arrived at our Tour Operator pickup point they did not have our names on the list. We had to switch dates and location for the tour. The Tour Operator picked up the hotel accommodations.
The tour was a perfect length of time and would highly recommend it. Note, A good tour Driver / Guide makes all the difference and Andrew made it the best!

Our drive Neil was great. He was knowledgable, taught us both the scientific reasons for things and the origin folk stories. The scenery was expansive and awesome. The extras were mediocre and there’s just not enough time to do them. The whisky distillery wont even have it’s own product for 10yrs. Not sure why that one was chosen. I’ve traveled to many countries and the castles on the tour weren’t the best, but Skye itself is well worth it. The bnb we stayed at was cute and allowed for great evening walks along the water.

The trip was cut to 2 day due to the wheel fell off the bus. My husband notified the driver that the tire needed to be tightened. The noise indicated something was not right but the driver was not familiar with mechanical issue, obviously. He is a driver not a mchanic. The company should never let the bus in that condition be deiven. Luckily nobody got hurt and we saw the outside tire fell off immediately and the bus stopped on the side of a moubtain hill without swerving to traffic or against traffic.

We had a great time and excellent scenic views in the isle of skye. Even the B and B was nice and comfy. The only thing that kinda surprised us was the fact that we had to take the train back to Edinburgh instead of directly being dropped off at Glasgow. We were given free train tickets and our guide/driver brought us down beside Waverly station

The tour company Highland Experience Tours, gave us very little information beforehand about the itinerary, what we’d be doing, where we’d be staying or eating, etc.The lack of communication from the company to the travelers contributed to an increased sense of confusion and chaos during this trip. We left from Glasgow, and were dropped off in Edinburgh, with rail tickets and a long walk to the station with our luggage. Along the route, our guide Nick seemed unprepared for the inevitable problem of having optional activities that cost extra which some people wanted, and others didn’t. We should not be voting on where to go or where to get lunch, or what our menu choices were when there was such limited time. Also, Nick’s sense of time management wasn’t great, especially on how long things would take, or even indicating to us what time to be back in the bus from our various stops. Also, the bus was very uncomfortable, with seats very close together, and not even a place to put a cup. Our B and B on Skye was very nice, even though I didn’t get the accommodation I requested. Fortunately the scenery was fabulous.

The trip started with not a very pleasant experience because the trip was delayed for 1 hr as the bus broken down. That’s why I don’t give full mark. With this, the first day is quite rush and every spots that we just can stay for very short period of time. Day 2 is much better as the whole day is at Isle of Skye. The B&B we stay is good and the places are beautiful. The tour guide Cat is very good and well managed everything. Driver Steward also nice and dress up tradition Scott dress for us to take pic with him. Day 3 tour of Loch Ness is the best. The weather is fantastic and the scene is best. Don’t miss if you think that you need to pay extra $. Net. Good trip.

Guide and driver excellent…well worth the time and money…I really have never had such a well informed guide …kept us captivated in the beauty of Scotland….thank you Erin…you are a credit to your country.

The trip was in many ways well organised and the guide informative. However, I have serious criticisms of the lack of information given by Highland Experience. We had no idea where we would be staying on the island and as we had booked a restaurant which had to be cancelled as it was too far away from our B&B, this was a serious issue. More significantly, there was no information provided about the fact that those of us from Glasgow had to travel back by train from Edinburgh. I had an 85 year old relative with me and this involved two train journeys and a taxi to get back home when we had envisaged one taxi from Glasgow city centre. There really needs to be something done about this lack of communication. As I understand it, Highland Experience provides this information to the booking agent so that needs to be made clear on the website.

We had a lovely time overall. It was our first time in this part of the country. It was a good opportunity to get a flavour of the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye. The scenery of the different attractions were magical!! The tour guide is very knowledgeable about the area visited. We were also impressed with the quality of the bed and breakfast in the package.
The itinerary on Viator is out of date and caused some confusion with the tour guide. Suggest viator update this with tour guide/agency.

Graham our tour guide was fantastic! He really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, relaxed and entertained. He had lots of general knowledge to share. If you have a short time to see the highlands, this covers all the essentials!

  16. Rae_M

My tour guide Rob was amazing! He went above and beyond to make sure my tour was everything I hoped it would be and more! He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, it was a great time!

Itinerary: day 1 was fine. Day 2 had 2 useless stops – one at Sky brewing which only had bottled beer. Nowhere to sit. Second at a bar with only 1/2 hour and service was slow. Lunch that day in Potree was crowded and some in our group never got to eat. Day 3 the cafe at the folk museum could not handle the volume of people. As a result we lost so much time we could not enjoy the displays.
Driver; handled bad weather driving well. Told good stories. Knew a lot of history Was difficult to communicate with during drive because music was too loud. Also was not sympathetic to two fathers who were concerned about their daughters (one had to pee, one was nauseous). Made inappropriate joke about request for second vomit bag to colleague which could be heard by parent
Condition of vehicle: was not cleaned overnight. Found empty coffee cups and orange peels One wiper mal-functioned so those is front seat could not look out window Water leaked in by front door and skylight

Fantastic views, great guide (Graham), comfortable bus and well organised with lots of comfort stops . However I had the impression we would have time for a cruise at Loch Ness which we didn’t, only time for a walk and photos. I was expecting a night stay in Isle of Skye but that was changed to Inverness, post Covid. I suggest that the description be updated to manage expectations. Some reviews mentioned that the tour from Glasgow ended in Edinburgh but in fact they drop you back in Glasgow. The tour starting point was hard to find, even the local traffic warden couldn’t find the number on the address, we were in the right area and happened to spot the minibus. The tour office was not picking the phone early morning (9.40 am)when we were trying to find the stop.

Eddie is a fantastic guide/driver who is friendly, helpful and informative (and apologetic for traffic problems, the weather and the list goes on). We have thoroughly enjoyed being on the tour and listening to the information from Eddie. The weather has been (unusually) clear so we have been able to see wonderful natural sights.
