Kanazawa Castle History and Information

Kanazawa Castle, located in the heart of Kanazawa city in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, is a historic castle that dates back to the 16th century. The castle was built by the famous Japanese samurai, Toshiie Maeda, in 1583 and served as the residence of the powerful Maeda clan for over 14 generations.
