We took the cable car and 4×4 bus up as far as you can go. It’s not cheap but we’ll worth doing – great views of the eruption (from a safe distance).

This was my first trip to Sicily so it was a must to see mount Etna. There were only 7 in our group so much more enjoyable. Our guide Pepe was very knowledgeable and made sure that we all had a great time and organised the day well. The tour is broken up into 3 parts, lava cave, trekking and a tasting of local produce. I mostly enjoyed the trekking and you also get the chance to climb higher up via cable car and bus but this is at an extra charge. I would suggest bringing a sweater for the trekking. To be honest you can’t go wrong with this tour.

Enzo was very enthusiastic and gave us a lot of info/history on our drive over to Etna. The lava caves were really cool and Mt. Etna is incredible. As other reviews say, it’s nice to have a jacket with you as the further up you go, the chillier it gets. You have the option to stay down at the base with smaller craters or to take the cable car and bus up (costs extra) to be higher up which we did that option and honestly it was worth it to us! After Etna, we went to a local honey shop and had delicious samples. Overall, it was a really great trip!

The driver never picked us up and when Ethan tribe was called they said they could not contact the driver. The would not issue a refund. I was called to call the credit card company. Awful!

Best day trip ever! Guide Daria was a super driver and a very knowledgeable guide. The scenery was breathtaking, and the tasting at a family farm afterwards surpassed expectations…such a lot of samples. The tour length of 7 hours was perfect…back in time for supper. Daria was attentive and engaging…absolutely top-notch.

We had a great tour with our guild Daria who was very knowledgable and a confident driver on route to Mt Etna.
The tasting session was interesting I’m only disappointed I didn’t have more space to bring some of the local tasty products home with me to uk.
Recommend this tour especially if you are a bit of a foodie.

We had SUCH a fun day with our host Andrea. I thought going to Mt Etna was not my ideal way to spend the day…But thanks to our guide…I am happy we did it. We were picked up, shuttled to Etna, and given the choice to walk or take the cable car. We chose to walk, and although it was cold, it was an easy and enjoyable walk. We learned a lot from our guide, and he tolerated 4 womens giggles for many hours. Then we were taken to a local lunch place, then to a lovely honey shop. It was a very pleasant day full of different experiences!

Giuseppe (Pepe) Barbagallo from Etna Tribe worked very hard to keep a mixed group of people happy the entire day. We had a logistical question for travel that evening and he went out of his way to help us. Etna is along day from Taormina so be ready for a lot of car time. If you have a passionate interest in volcanoes and local cultures, this is a fun trip if you have clear weather. Highly recommend the cable car to get above the tourist offices and shops and explore the mountain a little bit more.

Greatly enjoyed the excursion. Enzo, our driver, was fabulous. He had terrific enthusiasm, energy and knowledge of Etna. It rained heavily when we reached the destination but Enzo was quickly able to respond with a ‘Plan B’ and he gave us an alternative location for our tasting of the local produce. Afterwards, he went out of his way to take us back up the mountain to try again, as the rain had stopped. We were so impressed with him. He is a great ambassador for Viator. This was our first Viator trip but we will definitely book more with you.

We a family of 4 adults were left stranded in the hotel car park after the tour driver couldn’t find us. We waited for 1 hour in the official hotel car park before we started contacting Viator to find out if someone was coming or not. We were told he could not find us and after picking up other people from other hotels he left without us. Later the Viator customer service told us that the tour is cancelled for us and it is not Viator’s fault. I have photos of us waiting in the car park. I am told that I need evidence that the Etna tour was cancelled. I do not have this as i was informed of this on the telephone. The only evidence I have is the phone call with Viator. They can listen to the conversation on the logged call with them. I am still requesting a full refund or something but seem to be losing. It was a lot of money to lose. I had come especially to Sicily to see Mount Etna but Viator would not book me a replacement. We were very upset.

Being able to walk on the volcano on hardened lava was amazing! Afterwards the guide took us to a lava cave, not only interesting but such a different experience. Our guide spoke English extremely well and was very well informed about volcanoes!

Angelo was at reception just prior to pick up time ready for us. This was a small group of 8. Just the right number so everyone feels included. His knowledge was great and he never made us feel rushed. His Communication in English was very good and he was easily understood. I leant more today about Mt Etna than I ever knew.
I recommend that anyone choosing this tour pay the extra and take the cable car and the all terrain ride further up the volcano. We had low cloud and poor visibility but that did not take away from the experience.
This was listed as a half day tour but really it ended up being a full day from 9-1700. This would have been as Angelo was so accomodating with us all. Thank you Angelo

Such a fun day trip. Worth seeing Mt. Etna! My tour guide Carmelo was fantastic! Super nice and funny and shared his Sicilian culture with us. I chose to add on and take the cable cars to 3000m and was glad I did. A very memorable day and would definitely recommend!
