Train ride was nice but we booked a table for four and without assigned seating we were not able to sit together. Trip was about two hours too long. The tour guide was great, very knowledgeable. We also rode for most of the trip in the back of the bus which was very uncomfortable and bumpy. Not quite what we expected.

  2. Emma_C

We enjoyed our train ride and loved being able to photograph the train crossing the viaduct.
Our tour guide was friendly and very informative

Had wonderful tour. Booked for the Hogwarts train however the tour was very informative and fun. Unfortunately I forgot our guides name but she was excellent driver .

  4. KatjaPolli_P

Lovely guide, amazing weather and wonderful picture spots, it’s definitely worth the money, cause you get to be on the train for two hours and have a 10 hour roundtrip around the Glen, the Highlands and Loch Ness!

Fun day on this trip. Alana great guide, enjoyed the scenery and the little towns. The train was fun!!

  7. Roy_C

    The train ride.
The driver could have provided more information, more quiet time and lower the volume.

This trip was unbelievable. 5 stars! The tour guide was so knowledgeable. This is a must do trip and you will not be disappointed.

Alana did a great job with her bus load of tourists. . She gave us a wee bit of local history, stopped frequently for photo ops and got us where we needed to be when we needed to be there. Highly recommended!

The train ride and reliving the Hogwarts Express experience was the highlight. The photo op of the Glennfinnen viaduct was a bit far for good photos. A shortened tour would have been preferable. 12 hrs is a long day.

We were really looking forward to this tour as I have a love of steam. The train broke down and we had to return to Fort William. Our tour guide Iain was waiting for us at our destination but due to miscommunication was not fully aware of our troubles. As the tour was running behind we were given no time to grab lunch and were treated a little like naughty school children which added an uncomfortable atmosphere. I understand these tours are time sensitive but we were not at fault for the delay. We managed to.just catch the train returning over the viaduct which was a bonus however on the return to Inverness we were dropped off at a different point as we were late. Glad we did the tour but our memories are tarnished by the way we were treated.

If you are a Harry Potter fan, this is your penultimate experience. To ride the Hogwarts Express. The scenery was magnificent tho for me, (not an HP fan) the journey itself was only average. The rest of the trip was good tho…lots of stops to see sites on the way and on the way back.

The scenery was spectacular! The Jacobite train journey was unforgettable. Our guide, Harrison, kept us entertained with stories and history. And Hamish brought us sunshine! 😁

  14. Andreas_N

The trip was stressful. Too long trip in too little time, hence a few 10min stops and rushing back. Great guide/driver though.

Awesome tour ! Harrison is the best guide i had for my first trip to Inverness. Informative and very engaging. On time and very efficient. He made the whole experience smooth. He is FUNNY! very attentive to our needs. thank you so much Harrison!
i would like to say to all Viator customers should make an effort to contact the office if you can’t make it. we had to wait for a no show.
this particular tour gives your all around feel of the Scottish Highlands. Rolling green hills. All the stops were well planned out. Harrison gives us commentary on what to expect.
Two hour train ride if you did not eat breakfast best to bring something to eat and drink. the line is long and time consuming.
Hogwarts express is an experience if you are a Harry Potter fan. the steam train was quite a sight with the viaduct in the background of the lush Highlands
Mallaig – pretty coastal town with plenty to eat and best to get a table to eat as soon as you can. Fish and chips to go. or sit down restaurants
Glenfinnan viaduct – awesome stop waiting for the train to show up!
Harrison does great job with storytelling regarding the Jacobite uprising.

Although the tour was 12 hours, Harrison made the time fly by keeping us entertained with great historical information, amusing stories and showing us spectacular scenery along the way.

The Hogwarts Express and Scenic Highlands is a wonderful day trip! Even though it sounds long at 12 hours, it was well paced and did not feel like a long day. The scenery is magnificent in both the bus journey and on the train. Our guide Duffy was friendly and welcoming, and he had plenty of information and stories to share with us, and played Scottish music/artists at times also, which was fabulous.

The noisy bus. Ventilation noise unbearable. Other aspects of the vehicle also unsatisfactory. The guide was great – couldn’t fault her.

  19. Suzanne_L

The guide was fantastic. Very informative. Really packed day- saw a ton but never felt rushed. Highly recommend!
