We both had an absolutely amazing time. Chitchen Itza well what more can I say that has been with it being one of the 7 wonders. Daniel was our tour guide and was also the English guide at Chitchen Itza which was just amazing. He provided great information and really made the trip. The drive Javier made for a super smooth ride and even made a run to the store with a cooler and offered drinks on the way back. Honestly this is a must do if you’re in Cancun and I couldn’t have asked for a better driver and your guide

I gave this tour 4 stars because of the amazing job Rodrigo did on the Chichen Itza tour. Once we arrived at Chichen Itza, our tour guide Marcos, handed us off to Rodrigo, who speaks good English. He gave us a very detailed history of Chichen Itza. He is a mayan descendant himself and had even grown up as a kid right on the (now) preserved land of the ruins of Chichen Itza. The reason I didn’t give this tour 5 stars is because on the way to Chichen Itza from the the Cancun Hotel Zone, we stopped at Valladolid, but only for 25 minutes, more like a pit stop than anything else. Then you head to a gift shop/restaurant where they serve you a good lunch buffet. But what I didn’t like is that as soon as you arrive, the tour guide leads the entire group to the shop and the workers essentially corralled us into the gift shop and told to buy stuff, be aware that there are no price tags on any of the stuff and you’d be better off buying the same stuff for cheap at the little souvenir shops in Cancun. We picked out a few things and they told us the total was a whopping $170, which we hadn’t known because they don’t put price tags on the gifts. Then you’re told to get them wrapped in paper, when you go over to the wrapping table they simply tell you that you have to get your stuff “blessed” by some other guy before they’ll wrap it. So we head over there with our gifts, get it blessed and try to go back to the gift wrapping table but then we’re told we owe them $20 USD for the blessing that we hadn’t had a choice in getting. Finally we get things wrapped and are $190 lighter. I also bought two VIP tickets, one for my husband and one for me for this tour, but at lunch the buffet worker tried telling me that we only get 1 free alcoholic drink per reservation, which makes no sense since we bought two full price tickets. They don’t speak good English so I just gave them money but it was a bummer. We get back on the bus after lunch and as we’re pulling away, Marcos introduces a guy that works for the gift shop. The guy doesn’t say a word and just silently hands out bottles of alcohol to every couple with their pictures on it that we had take at the gift shop (without saying why they were taking our pictures). I thought it was free but 10 minutes later he comes by our bus seats and asks for $20 USD. Feeling forced again, I just pay the money. So overall I spent $210 extra dollars I hadn’t been planning on spending on this tour. The umbrellas aren’t included that they state in the ticket are included, so bring sun screen. The tour of Chichen Itza is amazing, and the cenote swim was a cool experience, if not a little packed by people. The tequila tasting was interesting.

Marco and Rodrigo were great guides! The temple was amazing. Cenote was great to see and swim in. Well worth the 3 hour bus ride from Cancun.

This tour was very worth the money! There are 5 different pick up locations starting from the hotel zone to downtown Cancun, or if you purchase the more expensive packages, you can request to be picked up instead. I got picked up on time with no hassles. Our driver Eduardo was excellent and drove us around smoothly and in a timely manner. The tour starts with about a 2 hour drive to the colonial city of Valladolid where you spend 30 mins to roam around (wasn’t too impressive), then get driven to an area with gift shops and a lunch buffet (food was pretty good!). After, you drive to the Chichen Itza ruins where you spend 2 hours with a tour guide, then drive to a cenote where you spend about 15 minutes for tequila tasting and 1 hour swimming.
On the initial bus ride, our primary tour guide Daniel was very informative of what to expect on the tour and also gave us very detailed background about Mayan culture and history. He is very knowledgeable and very engaging. I really enjoyed having him as a tour guide.
At the Chichen Itza ruins, we had a different tour guide named Rodrigo who made the tour worth it! Despite spending 2 hours in the blazing hot sun from 12-2PM at the ruins (I highly recommend having sunscreen and bringing an umbrella for the sun), Rodrigo was extremely committed to making our experience memorable. As a Mayan descendent, he gave us extremely detailed information about the history of the Mayans and why the ruins are considered one of the 7 wonders of the world. He also had a great sense of humor and told us where the best photo op spots are for social media! I found everything that he taught us extremely fascinating and am super fortunate I had him as a tour guide!
Ending the day with the cenote was a great idea because you’re probably sweaty from the humid weather and cooking in the sun from the tour. The cenote is extremely beautiful, very open with a waterfall and a place to jump in. Life vest rentals are mandatory and cost a couple of pesos along with optional locker rentals.

This was a great day trip, and I highly recommend getting out of the hotel zone to see Chichen Itza while you are in Cancun! It was a very long day, most of which was spent on a bus (we were picked up at 5:30AM and dropped off at 7:30PM) but it was worth it. Chichen Itza was beautiful, and our tour guide Rodrigo was wonderful! We also loved going to the Cenote afterwards. The only disappointment I had was the Buffet Lunch. The lunch was not very good (and it was served at 10:30AM and was the only meal provided all day long) and we spent way too much time at the shops there. I would have much rather preferred to be picked up later from the hotel and gone straight to Chichen Itza than stop for the buffet lunch. In addition, our trip to Valladolid consisted only of driving through the town while on the bus; we weren’t allowed to get off and walk around or take pictures at all. In summary, Chichen Itza and the Cenote is well worth the day trip, but if I were to do it again I would choose a tour that only went to Chichen Itza and the Cenote and did not stop anywhere else.

I booked this tour as a gift for my mom since it was her first time to go to Cancun and have this experience . This tour was good , this is my 2nd time to go to Cancun and do this tour . Daniel the tour guide was very informative I learned new things from him which I did not learn from my first tour few years ago. I got to see the Valladolid town as well which wasn’t included fr my first tour , so that was something nice as an addition . The lunch buffet was ok , I was expecting more choices of food and more traditional food fr Mexico to be served . Didn’t even got the chance to do 2nd serving when I thought this was a buffet lunch . The tequila tasting was great and their tequilas were awesome ! This gave me a new perspective on how tequilas should be ! All in all it was good tour !

Roll isn’t trip. Tour guide Marcella immensely knowledgeable and wonderful guide. Our drivers superb. Hats off to Jesus who picked us up in the mini us and took us to meet the main tour. He was such a buzz on a 5am pickup and had us all entertained. Was lovely to see him pick us back up. Tour was amazing. Chichen itsa should not be missed. So many interesting historic facts. The cenotes stop was brilliant. A really great day out. Worth the long journey.

  9. ADESOLA_O

Loved the activities but didn’t give 5 stars because of the logistics of our pickup. We booked the vip tour with pickup but we didn’t get picked up at our hotel but instead at the hotel across the street. Chichen itzah is a must see!! And the tour guides Frank and Rodrigo were amazing and were very knowledgeable about the history of the Mayans. Rodrigo showed us the best spots to take photos. The Cenote was absolutely amazing.

Did this tour with my husband as part of our anniversary trip to Cancun. The whole trip took about 12-13hr…but it wasn’t boring. DAVID was our tour guide & EDUARDO was our driver. We felt very safe the whole trip & David was so entertaining.
As for the tourist spots itself, worth going with the tour. No hassle. Just relax in the bus & enjoy.

Starting your day off early was most definitely worth it. Ruben, our guide, and Ivan, our bus driver, were amazing hosts and so knowledgeable of everything we did. I highly recommend this tour for families and friends a like. The history and sacredness of the places you are going to visit provide an insight into la cultura Maya and energy like no other. Take plenty of water, change, and protection from the sun because no matter when you go, it’s always hot.
    Gracias, Ruben!

Our guides, Marco and Rodrigo, were the best. The tour was absolutely amazing! Highly recommended, extremely informative, interesting, breathtakingly beautiful, and fascinating. Definitely the best part of our girls trip to Cancun!

  13. Ann_L

Rodrigo was an amazing tour guide for the Chichen Itza!! He was extremely knowledgeable and knew all the cool picture spots. Daniel was the guide for remainder of trip. He had to do it in both English and Spanish, great work.

My partner and I were very happy with this trip. Be prepared for a very long day! We got picked up exactly at 5:25am and returned at 6:35pm. Be prepared with lots of snacks since you don’t eat until around 1:30pm-2:00pm. I purchased the deluxe package mainly for the transportation and was really happy with it, though you will be disappointed if you’re buying it for extra options in the buffet. The “drink” at the buffet is only coke, hibiscus tea, and water. The order we did activities was : Valladolid, Chichén Itzá Tour, lunch, Cenote samaal, and tequila tasting (optional for everyone regardless of package purchased). We weren’t in Valladolid long, it was more of a pit stop for 10 mins. My partner and I weren’t overly excited about this part of the tour tho so it was more of a “just so we can say we’ve been here” type of thing. We may go back in the future for the shopping, who knows. Chichén Itzá was next where we stayed for 2 hours. We also wished we stayed a tab bit longer but that’s only because we really enjoyed it, despite the heat. Be mindful that Amigo’s tours set up an official guide from the site. Forgot his name but he was awesome. Next was lunch, sort of. They try to sell you on obsidian stones sold near the buffet, but to be fair we were waiting for the group ahead of us to clear the buffet. They also let us taste some mayan honey which was delicious! The buffet itself was okay, nothing to write home about. Once done we took the bus to Cenote Samaal and had a total of 1 hour to change, shower, get a locker + lifevests, go into the Cenote and return everything and change again! As you can imagine that means we only got 10mins max in the Cenote because it took at least 5 mins to get down and back the stairs to the Cenote. This was the main thing my partner and I truly wished was longer, we thought we could be perfectly content with everything else, but would kill for an extra 30 mins in the Cenote. As a side note it seems this is more of a cultural thing, since the tequila tasting rep told us from local POV the Cenote is supposed to be for a dip in the water since there isn’t much to do in there besides swim and dive, which makes sense. Anyway, the water was so fresh, not salty at all! It was our first time! We technically could have gotten an extra 10 mins if we skipped tequila tasting but really wanted to try it and we didn’t regret it. The tequila tasting presentation was 10 mins and it truly was very smooth, and not harsh at all. The tequila is artisanal, and locally handmade. My partner loved the aged wine, while my fav were the sweet ones (mango and pineapple). We ended up buying the mango for $50 USD or 1000 pesos. After that the trip was over at around 3:35pm we were back on the bus. We personally didn’t get to our hotel until 6:35pm. Overall we recommend this tour! The Amigo’s Tours Guide David is hilarious and helped make the trip memorable! He is also very knowledgeable. Definitely go in expecting to get a taste of each place rather than an in depth view (exception of Chichén Itzá) and it will not disappoint. You will learn a lot about Mayan culture and civilization. This is a good tour if you are a history buff or like learning about different cultures! Thank you Amigo Tours!

This was a really wonderful excursion. Our tour guide Daniel was an expert on Mayan culture so we felt very fortunate! Just a warning, this is a VERY long day. We left our hotel at 5am and got back around 7:30pm. You get to see a lot, but we were very tired.

  17. Jordan_M

Frank was amazing! The whole day was so worth it, especially with the early access to all of the activities. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The tour of Chichen Itza gives you the option to stay with the guided tour or explore on your own. Lunch and tequila tastings were great and the Cenote was incredible! A must-do!
