This was just an ordinary transfer from a Rome hotel to the port cruise terminal. Until it wasn’t!
Our driver was on time, and loaded our luggage before setting out for the port. Just as we were leaving Rome’s traffic congestion (about 15 minutes into an hour trip), we realized that one of our bags was still at the hotel! Panic quickly set in. A call was made to the hotel, and the driver turned the car around. He got us back to the hotel, retrieved our forgotten bag, and made sure we arrived safely at the port with relatively little delay. Yes, he pushed a few traffic laws. And yes, we were embarrassed and very apologetic. And yes, we tipped him VERY WELL to compensate for him missing his next passengers.
Our driver, and the dispatcher for this service, went above and beyond in our desperate situation!
Hopefully, you never have this happen to you. But if you do, these folks will have your back and get you through it!
