I booked this trip as a surprise for my husband and we’re so glad we did it! I arranged for us to be picked up from our hotel in Taormina. Everybody we met from this company was so friendly and we were given a bit of history of Etna before the tour. We were lucky to be the only ones on this tour, so we very much had a personal service. Our guide was Josef and he was an enthusiastic guide, keen to make sure we had the whole experience. We had a double quad, as I wasn’t confident at riding one myself and we set off first through the valley, which is beautiful and very green and lush, before getting higher into the black lava soil of Etna. Josef stopped on the way to give us some information about the area and also took us to a cave that had been created in the eruption of 2002. When we reached the top, it was a bit surreal as the weather was noticeably cooler and the landscape was like nothing we’d seen before. There are a few cabins where you can get refreshments and souvenirs though you’d need to take a rucksack if you intended buying anything. Then we travelled back down a slightly different route, which took us through a forest. I think the tour was about 4.5 hours and we were very dusty but very happy to have had the experience! We went in July and I would definitely recommend sunscreen and sunglasses and be prepared to get a bit grubby. In our view, the best way to see Mount Etna!

This was an amazing way to explore Mt Etna!! We absolutely loved this tour and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the region. Make sure to choose the 4.5 hour option because it allows you enough time to explore Etna. We had never driven ATVs before, but it was easy to pick up. Also make sure to wear close toed shoes, long pants, and bring a sweatshirt.
We we glad that we arranged a hotel pick up. We spent the day with our local guide, Denise, who was wonderful! This trip took us through various small towns, off-roading on various nature trails, and we even drove through a few small streams. The views were incredible and the experience was one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily!

Met the guides all very friendly. We doubled up on the bike. We drove on and off road, some parts off road were a bit of a white knuckle ride, but absolutely thrilling. Scenery was breathtaking. Wear layers as the temperature at top is chilly. In fact gloves would be a good idea. Highly recommend

What a blast! We had a great time. Our guide Deniss was wonderful. We stopped in certain areas and she gave us lots of interesting facts. Be prepared to get a little dirty. The trails were dry and dusty. But that’s what off-roading is all about.

This was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! My wife and I has SO much fun and the scenery was breathtaking! You start about 90min away from the top of the mountain so you get to ride a long time on the quad which is fun. I drove and my wife sat behind me and we take some amazing pictures and videos! The ride is a mix of off and on-road.

If I could, I would rate it 3.5 stars but I can’t so I’ve rounded up to 4 stars. It was good, but not really good. I think there needs to be more information on Mt. Etna. There was a stop at a lava cave that was really interesting the tour guide explained how the caves are developed. The stop at the photographer’s store was also interesting to hear his explanations of the last large explosion in 2002 and the more recent one in March. It would have been better if there was more information on Mt. Etna. In all, it was a fun experience to ride a quad through a small hill top town and rural dirt roads in order to get to the base of Etna – the tour only brings you to 1800 meters. From there you can hike up but when you’re on the quad you cannot since you have limited time at the base area before heading back down. We had fun, but want you to realize this is more of a quad experience than a Mt. Etna experience.

Highly recommend the trip great way to see the volcano! Quite an adventure for the family.

This adventure was absolutely amazing. I will remember it for the rest of my life. However this adventure is NOT for the slight of heart or body. I undertook this adventure with my wife and my two sons, age 29 and 31. They drove the ATVs, and loved every minute of it. As my wife and I are seniors, in reasonable good health, I know we would not have been able to drive this vehicles over this terrain ourselves. The guides were great, can’t remember their names right now, but they were terrific. I highly recommend this adventure, however you better have excellent uppper body strength to handle these vehicles.

Some initial issues confirming our hotel pick up time etc. While on the tour we would have liked to stop a bit more to take in the views and get some more photos. Guides told us to beep if we wanted to stop but were often too far ahead to hear us and sometimes out of sight. Overall a great day though.

This tour was super fun! You get really dusty, but that’s part of the experience! The sights along the way are awesome. The beginning of the tour felt a little unorganized though. We arrived at the meeting point as directed, and the guy who met us there was really nice but didn’t really explain anything – he mainly spoke Italian. Then told us to follow him on his motor bike with our cars, but again, nothing was really explained. It wasn’t a big deal, but we were just kind of confused about who he was was he the guide? and where we were going! Turns out, he wasn’t the main guide, but did join us on the tour to help everyone along. We arrived at a little garage and got set-up on the bikes. The gentleman there didn’t speak much English, but thankfully someone on our tour could translate his instructions. Then our main tour guide arrived. She was really nice and spoke good English. The ride itself was great. A mix of riding on the street and off-road. The scenery is just beautiful. On the way to Mt Etna, you stop at this cool cave. You don’t go all the way to the top of Mt Etna, but that was okay with us. Lunch was good you stop at sandwich place and also at a nearby shop owned by a photographer. He explains some of his photos and you watch a video that he’s taken of Mt Etna over the years. We really enjoyed that part. Overall, great fun and we would recommend.

The tour was awesome! Because it was December, we were the only two on the tour. The guide noted our clothing and brought an extra jacket for each of us to borrow which was so appreciated. We got great instruction driving and navigating around Etna. We got to check out a cave, a river, and some other really fantastic sites other than just the volcano. I will say, that we did not get to the top- which I expected because you can only hike all the way up there but if you want to ride to the top- this is not that. Overall, the guide was great and it was a super fun experience.

We loved this tour!! We were the only ones on the tour and Miguel did a great job of showing us a variety of volcanic areas and terrains. He made a few stops in order for us to experience more of the area (lunch and coffee at a local shop). This is one of the best tours we’ve ever taken.

This tour was an absolute blast from the second we started to the second we got back. Our tour guides were great and helped us with anything we needed. The only thing i would highly recommend is making sure you’re warm enough. Check the weather and dress appropriately. If there’s a chance of rain bring thin gloves and wear a sweater an wind breaker! Other then this little tip, this tour is 100% recommended!

4 hour round trip with my husband riding with our 9 year old daughter and myself with our 20 year old daughter. The route was away from the tourist side of Mount Etna and we went through a variety of landscapes up to 2,000m. Even though it was hot in the valley you definitely need a wind jacket at the top. We loved the adventure and the half way point where we met a local Etna expert. Great trip!
valb643 –
an excellent trip, great fun driving the quad off road and up the tracks/lanes to the North ski area.
Guide had great English and made us very welcome
Ross T –
The four of us collectively agree that this was the most exciting part of our two weeks in Italy.
We spent 4 1/2 hours from start to finish going across rough trails that would be difficult to walk and some of the journey on roads going through towns.
Our guide was ever cautious for our safety and was very knowledgeable regarding the history of the
active volcano. This activity was absolutely worth the money and we would recommend it to anyone.
Naomi_E –
Flawless experience! Be prepared with water and a snack as you will be driving for about an hour and a half both ways! Especially during the summer months as temperatures can reach about 30C+
Our guides were great and made sure no body was left feeling uneasy with the trip! The route was for the most part absolutely beautiful and gives you a good experience of outer city life in Sicily. Would recommend for anyone seeking something a bit different then the usual experience in Sicily!
Cathrine_I –
Really fun trip on the ATVs. But the weather was very hot and we missed some more breaks where we had time for a drink. Only 3 breaks in 4.5 hours.
We saw some exciting places however this trip is more to drive atv than to see the volcano. But it was the money worth!
Christoph_F –
Driving with the quad was great fun.
The „english speaking tour guide“ could not speak good english.
Anyway, we enjoyed this tour
Sara_M –
We truly enjoyed the ATV tour of Mt. Etna! We started at their warehouse picking up our quads and drive them up the mountain. The tour consisted of some off road driving and some street driving. We went through the countryside of Etna and passed by many beautiful areas. We even got to make a pit stop at a river to take some pictures. Our tour guide, Andrea, was amazing! He was very informative and helpful. This tour was well worth the visit and we’re so glad we got to experience it
