This is the BEST way to visit Sintra! Our guide, Mehdi, was amazing – super friendly with so much knowledge. He contacted us prior to the tour, picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Sintra. We visited the Quinta da Regaleira first. Mehdi navigated us past the lines and took us to the most amazing places! We saw secret gardens, caves and even an old tennis court – he had all of the information for us. Then we went to Pena Palace and Mehdi’s extensive knowledge proved super valuable. While everyone else was in large groups, waiting in lines and trying to figure out what to do, Mehdi guided us through the history of the palace, past all of the lines and we saw so much! Best tour we took on our travels to Portugual – but you must do it with a private guide. If you’re lucky, you’ll get Mehdi!

When you are trying to select the right tour while traveling in foreign country it so often could be a gut felling on which one to choose. We selected a 1/2 day private tour for us and another couple. It was perfect. Most importantly our tour guide was Susana. She was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. She talked about what we would like to see, made a few recommendations and tailored the trip accordingly. Her recommendations that the Pena Castle was a must see was spot on. She led us through the tour, being so informative as we went. Also she insistent we went their first due to the crowds. If we would have not gotten there for the first tour the line would have been hours long. Great recommendation for lunch and made some great stops on the way back for fantastic views.
Sintra is a must see if you go to Portugal. Ask for Susana if possible.. she made the trip so enjoyable…

We had a wonderful time and Jose, our driver and tour guide, was great. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. So worth every second. Because we went in Oct, it was foggy and a bit rainy so be sure to bring a rain jacket.

We had limited time in Lisbon, but this tour allowed us to cover a whole lot of ground. Sintra, the Pena Palace, and the Quinta da Regaleira sites were like no other. Just stunning. Diogo brought these places to life providing the history, and background information necessary to appreciate what we were experiencing. He safely guided us, and provided pre bought tickets that allowed us to move quickly and skip lines. The tour allowed for lunch, and other time to experience the day on our own, but with clear instructions on when and where to meet up. We had time to head west, and see the coast and villages along the coast.

The Palace of Pena and the Quinta de Regalaires were awesome to see. Lots of tile and unique and decorative spaces. Our guide was great: easy to get along with, and was willing to take us where we wanted to go and in what order. He gave us time to explore and discover based on some of his tips and then met up with us after we were finished.

My husband and I went to Sintra with Diogo. I miscalculated the beginning time and he has kind enough to allow us to take a quick breakfast. He was a knowledgeable, personable guide . More importantly my husband’s vertigo was acting up and Diogo was able to custom make the tour to accommodate his needs.

We had Diogo for our tour and couldn’t have managed to visit Sintra without him, he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The day we went unfortunately coincided with a workers strike in the area and access to the palaces was restricted in the morning. Diogo was able to speak to workers at the Palace and find out when the palace would open and if our tickets were still valid. Because of the strike he made alternative arrangements for our tour and took us to a local bakery (and he even paid for the coffee and a cake which was a lovely touch).
It would have been so stressful without him.
