This tour was 10 1/2 hours long. Out of this time we only spent 4 hours actually touring the included sites of Oxford and Cambridge. The rest of the time was spent traveling on the bus. Out of the 2 hours at each site, the guided portion only lasted about 1 hour and the rest of the time was on your own. No maps were provided so that you could find your way around, so everyone had to explore in a very limited area in order to find your way back to the bus. The guide was a very nice young man and the commentary he provided was very
informative. However, we had quite a large group including some older people and he walked quite rapidly from place to place. Everyone was not able to keep up with him and he began his commentary when just a few people were surrounding him. The rest of
the group missed part or sometimes all of what he was saying. My recommendation would be to not visit both sites on one tour in one
day. If someone is going to pay this much and have to spend so much time traveling to different sites, it would be much better to just
go to one site and have more of a guided tour rather than just being sent out on your own for such a significant period of time. It would
be much better to provide guided commentary for the full two hours or at least provide maps if the group is going to be given time to
explore on their own. I don’t feel I received good value for the cost of the tour.

This was a very good tour. We got to see the highlights of Oxford and Cambridge, which is what we wanted. Do know that each city has a lot to offer and you won’t get to see everything there is to see. This is a very good overview of both. The meeting point for the tour isn’t that easy to find, so leave yourself a lot of time to find it. But once on the bus, we were well taken care of. Good tour leader. Good bus driver. We always felt well taken care of. I do recommend this tour.

Our guide David was so informative and helpful. He tried to accommodate everyone while giving us a fabulous and memorable tour. It was a long day. We boarded the bus at 8:30 am and returned to London at 7:30 pm but we had a lot to cover with a large group. The bus was very comfortable and accommodating and lunch which was included was quite plentiful we thought. We had a bit of free time to shop but mostly David’s commentary was much appreciated.

We missed the bus to Oxford and Cambridge day tour due to our inability to locate the pickup address for the tour and could not avail it. Golden tours do not refund the the deposited amount and deducts 50% of it even if not availed. The Company offered to give any future tour on half of the price. However, deduction of 50% amount for any touring services that have not been availed is still not justified and is against the ethical norms of business. Moreover, the contact number of the tour guide or location map of the destination to reach there and join the tour was also not provided to us despite repeated requests to meet the emergency situation if one wanted to join the group for the later part of the trip. We therefore could not locate the tour guide in Oxford owing to confusing meeting spot conveyed to us by the Company. These little kind gestures by the Company could go a long way in winning loyalties of the customers. These policies of Golden tours are therefore not client-friendly in the modern-day corporate world and may be positively strategized for a long-term relationship between the Company and the customers. We visited Grenada Palace in Spain last year through a similar touring arrangement by Cicerone Company and were provided mobile number of the guide for locating and joining the tour. Many tourists came from long distances and joined the trip by the facilitation in communication to save their Grenada trip to make it more memorable. Why an iron curtain here in UK with Golden Tours?

Very interesting tour & very informative. My daughter wanted to visit & we all really enjoyed walking through these towns.

We signed up for an English Language tour, but after meeting our guide and beginning the trip, we found out that the tour would be in both Spanish and English due to the fact that we had three Spanish speakers on the tour out of eighteen of us. The tour guide was Chilean who spoke with such a heavy accent, his English was difficult to understand and he spent the vast majority of the trip conversing with the three Spanish speakers. I would understand if this was Spain, but you’d think you’d get English spoken in England!

It was a great tour in terms of the places being amazing and the Cauchy was very comfy. However, we found that the tour guide wasn’t very clear in her explanations and her English wasn’t very good. She also rushed us. We loved Oxford and Cambridge though – very beautiful but the tour guide can be better.

I had a great experience with the tour guide (Danxia) and the bus driver (Tony) from the Golden Tours UK. Fist of all, the tour bus started out on time. The bus driver drove the bus very stable. The bus has ac. The tour guide is truly exceptional, she is very professional, her English sounds like a Native America English speaker, yet her Mandarin is also her native language. Amazing lady.

Our tour guide, Danxia, was delightful and very informative. She kept our group on-time and our driver, Lucian, was always ready to pick us up and take us to our next destination timely. I think there were 29 of us in our tour group and by the end of the day, we felt like a cohesive group who enjoyed the day together – thanks in large part to Danxia’s personal attention to detail. Cambridge was charming and Oxford was impressive. Danxia showed us the highlights of each town, and we had free time during both visits to explore some on our own. It was a delightful day!

Great trip to see Oxbridge. My group was conducted in English and mandarin. I feel that time was lost with the dual translation and there were things I couldn’t do and regret things I didn’t have time for. Guide was personable and was very helpful and friendly.

It was a good tour to Warwick Castle, Stratford-on-Avon, through the Costwolds and Oxford. Of course, we would have liked more time at each location and less time on the coach but that is unrealistic. Warwick Castle commercial status was a huge surprise, but fun too. Enjoyed the Shakespearean experience. Our guide, Dolly, was a hoot and full of information.
Marianne_F –
We especially appreciated having Sascha as our tour guide. She is so informative, friendly and energetic. I also very much enjoyed the music she played along the way.

Total scam. I booked an English tour and was put in a Bilingual tour. Had to wait for everything to be translated before getting into the King’s College and Church of Christ. When all said and done, you really get less than 2 hours at each location. If I knew the English and Chinese tours were combined, I would have cancelled. Totally deceiving.
Jim_H –
Enjoyed seeing the univ towns. However a bilingual tour, English and Mandarin, was a surprise. The guide, Grace, and the driver, Marius, were good but Grace had to use so much time describing the places twice we had insufficient time to experience the colleges. Hence our rating.
Alvaro_M –
The driver and tour were great and the schedule respected. The guide managed to explain everything in both languages. The thing is that the cities are far ffom each other. There isn’t much time to experience them properly.

Sasha is a friendly and happy person, but she had more fun herself rather than leading a tour. The tour was supposed to be guided in English. Sasha would quickly walk to points and not wait for the whole group before providing information so we hardly heard anything she said. She also provided Spanish translation causing her to rush and talk very fast. She would run ahead of the group and then as quickly as possible leave the group to explore by ourselves. She didn’t provide adequate direction to the bathrooms leading to a lot of wasted free time looking for those locations. It’s a shame to have learned very little about either school. In addition, we were dropped at Gloucester Rd, the much further location outside London city center, even though we arrived back in London well before 6:30pm and should have been taken back to Victoria Station. Overall, we were very disappointed with this experience.

First, our tour guide Regina was fantastic! However when I booked the trip I was not aware that this trip would be in English and Chinese. While this might not have been a problem, this trip is SO rushed already. You barely have any time to see or do anything. Add on top of that Regina having to translate from English to Chinese at every stop. I would definitely take another tour from Regina, just not this one.
