Great, lively overview of the Cambridge campus by a recent graduate who wanted a bit more time around campus before accepting a job in London. I was surprised to learn of people on my remote family tree who had roles in establishing colleges there.

We got to Cambridge well before our booked time, however we were unable to find parking by the time the tour started. We were only able to pick up the punt for the tour along the river. You should be aware that parking is extremely difficult in Cambridge.

Quite a memorable time! Our tour guide, Justin, was quite personable and knowledgeable! We moved at a fairly easy pace but covered a lot of ground. The punting tour was great as well; a very relaxing follow up to the walking tour. The guide was great and even turned us around for someone who dropped their phone in the river so she could try to find it even though there was hardly any chance. (Tip: Keep your phone inside the boat at all times. The river can get deep and you cannot see more than an inch into it.)

The tour was very nice. The co-ordination does require some improvement though. The tour included punting and the guide showed the place in the middle of the tour. We had to go on our own to the point later on but had a lot of difficulty finding the place and missed our slots. We were included in the later slot which was an hour later.

We had a really fantastic tour with Francesco. Francesco is an Italian Archeologist, and luckily he could sumarize what he had just told in English to my beginners students. He has been very friendly, detailed, and absolutely competent. Thank you Francesco for this amazing tour. It has been a real pleasure! Unfortunately, the best we got with the tour, the worst we got with the punting tour. The punter was completely unexperienced, we got stuck in the Cam, the current was really strong and we couldn’t get back to the dock. We rowed with umbrellas to get back to the dock. We were 30 minutes late. No excuses came from the organization, neither someone came to help us. It was a total disaster. Punting tour is wonderful, if the punter can punt!

He had lots of great info and dispensed knowledge that was the right balance of light and interesting, but has a serious depth of background that made him ready to answer any question or dig deeper in on any issue we asked about.
