Viator canceled our tour one hour before we were scheduled. They did not offer any other option and customer service was extremely unhelpful. We were not able to rebook the tour because there was no availability. We were not able to go the Louvre on our dream vacation in Paris. We saved and planned for three years for this vacation. Please never use this company.

We had a great experience and our guide was amazing. We learned a lot and would definitely do it again.

This is an absolute SCAM. Do NOT do it.
We arrived on time and were told our tour guide is too sick to give the tour. We were given the option to either do the tour the next day or get a partial refund. Given we were flying out the next day we asked for the refund but still haven’t received anything despite numerous attempts to contact the manager. Very poor experience with rude staff. Do not recommend.

Not knowing what we were really looking for at the Louvre (aside from famous pieces), we wanted to know more to enrich our experience. Our tour guide was educated and knowledgeable, and his English was really good. He was also so pleasant and willing to show us things maybe he hadn’t originally planned on based on our interests. Really great experience, highly recommended!

Although we only had time to view one section of the Louvre and a few other select works, the amount of history and pieces displayed are beyond words. We feel it would take at least 3 days to navigate the Louvre, and still only see a fraction of the displayed works and artifacts. It is a mind boggling display that will be remembered all our days. One down side for us was the lack of restroom facilities. In a venue with more than an estimated 7.5 people per year, or 30K a day visiting, there should be an investment made to provide adequate restroom facilities. I stood in a line for more than 15 minutes, and never got in the door to the restroom and left due to time. A venue this size can and should do better in this area. No excuses. If you are going to sell food and drink, then you should provide the adequately for the alternate side of that coin.

Great experience. Throw as many questions as you can with the guide and you will be so richly rewarded with their depth of knowledge. Super cool tour. A must do when it is high summer and the place is packed!

Benedicte was very knowledgeable about the history of the Louvre and the works in the museum. Would have liked to see more areas that are not widely known to the masses and in less crowded areas so we could have had more time to discuss the art and it’s history.

I booked this tour for my parents & they really enjoyed their experience!
The meeting point was extremely easy to find & the tour itself was very educational & entertaining.

Great guided tour with small group. Our guide gave wonderful details and helped walk us through this large space with ease. Highly recommend!

We timed our metro to arrive 30 minutes early, but we missed the first train and we got off at wrong metro stop which made us 5 minutes late. We could not find the meeting place and we were told to connect with the group in front of the pyramid. We waited for 10 mins and no one showed. I called and they told me the guide left without connecting with us. They did send me the tickets, but we did not get the private tour we paid for. We were very disappointed.

75 minutes into my 120 minute tour I still had not made it through the ticket collector. My guide did not have our tickets and did not think that it was her problem to solve. At this point it had been on the phone with Viator for at least 30 minutes. Other members of my tour group were hearing family members that Viator separated them from who looking at the Mona Lisa. This was my first Viator tour. Is this the experience that Viator had planned for me the whole time? Viator can start with an apology and a full refund for a lousy experience that I had to endure along with my 2 young children.

Experience was really good! Milan was a great guide and very funny! We really enjoyed the museum. The museum needs days to fully understand everything but the highlights we saw were great. As a Greek guy it was a pleasure for me to watch my heritage be exposed to the whole world.

Merve’ was great! She was very knowledgeable and very considerate to our group. I didn’t feel rushed and she encouraged us to sit and take quick breaks in between. A definite book, if you haven’t already.

Our tour guide, I think her name was Marte, was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and our 2-hour tour with her did not feel rushed. She answered all questions we had and was very patient. Naturally, we could not see much in the time we were there, but she covered many highlights. When we were on the stairs by the Winged Statue of Samothrace, my blood sugar dropped quickly and I became overheated and disoriented. So much so that I vomited twice. Our guide and Louvre staff were exceptional and very understanding. The rest of the tour was uneventful, but I was amazed by everything we were able to see. Some of it took my breath away at how beautiful it was. I’d love to return and spend more time in the Louvre.

The guide was very knowledgeable and a pleasant person, and our group was small (6 adults and a baby), so we could engage with the guide. That’s where the positivity ends.
However, getting to the guide was very stressful and frustrating. Our written instructions said to exchange our Viator voucher for tickets at “any redemption point” at The Louvre before meeting the guide off-property. It did not say where these alleged redemption points were. We asked three separate Louvre employees for help. None of them ever heard of a redemption point and couldn’t help. After walking around the huge complex for more than half an hour in the heat, I called Viator, who told me were just to meet our tour guide and they would exchange the voucher for tickets. I pointed out that was completely contrary to the written instructions, and got no reaction or reply. While trying to find the meeting point, we found a tourist helper. She asked which tour group we were with, and when we said “Viator”, she rolled her eyes and said “not again”. Just then, another tourist helper approached the first one and asked if she needed help with our problem. She said, “no, just another Viator problem” and they both rolled their eyes. The helpers directed us to the meeting point. When we arrived there, two other groups were waiting, and described having the exact problem we had with incorrect, conflicting and unclear instructions. We were hot and frustrated before we even began what was supposed to be the highlight of our Paris visit. I would not use Viator again.

The Louvre was fine. I lot of art works to view and history to learn. You can spend hours trying to see everything that it has to offer.

  17. Patty_U

Great guide!! Easy to find, even though we arrived only 10 minutes before our time. We were in a group of six, and had a wonderful experience!!

  18. David_L

Frederic is an excellent guide. He not only showed us all the main highlights with backstories, but explained the history of the Louvre through to the present time.

We took the tour on a Sunday in early July. It was crowded in Paris with tourists. But thankfully, we did not have to wait in any lines and there were only 6 of us on this tour along with our guide, Julie. Julie was fantastic! We had two hours with her during which she expertly led us through the Louvre to see several of the main attractions. She also provided much history and perspective that I had never known. We were able to stay after the tour to explore on our own. Navigating through a crowded Louvre helps you to realize the enormity of the museum and to appreciate the guided tour earlier in which you were able to see some key pieces without wasting a lot of time figuring out where you are. This tour was just right.

Absolutely the worst tour guide in my entire life. Took 48 minutes to get to the gate and then 1 hour to show/explain 3 famous sculptures. Had to leave the tour guide after an hour as the tour was unbearable. Did not speak well, extremely slow, excruciatingly boring…just the worst part of the trip to Paris. Never again…just better to go on your own and use the museum’s audio guide.
