Outstanding recap of British Museum artifacts. Tour guide was excellent. Crowds were heavy though so sometimes it was hard to hear.
MikeBenbrook –
Total crap show. Way too many people. Could not enjoy viewing any of the displays. Crowded , and loud

WOW. Our tour of the British Museum by (I think) Joe was amazing. I’ve been on a lot of tours, and have a daughter very familiar with Greek and Roman gods – both of us were impressed. 1. Organized. Joe communicated immediately and effectively with us- where to meet and how to find him. Offering opportunity to use the bathroom while we waited etc. 2. Took us to the highlights of the museum so as not to miss anything important. 3. Quite articulate- spoke clearly and loudly- a difficult feat in a very loud and crowded museum. 4. Clearly knew what he was talking about- was able to tell stories and share insights into each of these topics with ease and thoughtfulness. 5. Engaged the group, asking questions to see who might be able to contribute to the discussion. Frankly this was one of the best tours I have ever been on- and that is 100% bc of Joe.

The museum was fabulous
Guide focused on talking about herself
She did describe well the history and layout

I arrived early for my tour of the British Museum. I searched for the tour guide on the front stairs both inside and out but was not able to locate. Tried to phone Viator but to no avail. Viator refused to refund the more than 60.00 I paid in advance.

Rosetta Stone my #1 “must-see” + I did!! Egyptian rooms were my favorite, but much enjoyed Fertile Crescent culture rooms also. Tour well organized + personalized.
Donna_L –
amazing museum, however our guide…not so much…..softspoken and concentrated on Egyptology too much….she was pleasant but wasted a lot of time with “question and answer” type of information…. i wish we had done our own independent visit….
Leticia_C –
Our tour guide was lovely but we COULD NOT HEAR HER! I asked her if she could please speak louder and we were unable to hear… she got lost twice, also it did not help that there was a lot of schools and children at the museum. I felt we dis not get much information… we had to stay at the end and redo some of the exhibitions. If she had a mic and earphones this would have been a bit better
Laura_C –
Our guide was smart and knowledgeable and caring and informative, and really made the day worthwhile

We started late, and there was very little value from the tour guide that we couldn’t have gotten on our own. He mostly just herded us (3 couples) from room to room with a brief introduction. Too much time in the opening rooms so that we ran out of time to see the most interesting rooms, which we went back to on our own. He was friendly, likeable, and knowledgeable.
Victoria_R –
Our guide, Joe, delivered a wonderful and engaging tour of the British museum that definitely helped us identify the highlights of the enormous Museum collection. I would definitely recommend this tour to others. Thanks Joe!
mary_W –
The British Museum is huge and awe inspiring and we were so happy to have such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, Joe, to navigate us through!
Just awe inspiring to see actual artifacts such as the Rosetta Stone, Egyptian mummies, and a Moai from Easter Island to name a few!
Thank you Joe for letting us not only see but feel the importance of what is collected in this amazing place!!
Bella_G –
Good tour of the museum. Was helpful to have a guide to take us to the highlights. Not our favorite, but still good nonetheless.

Set an extensive knowledge, the Egyptian civilization, and try to ensure that everyone was included in our discussions
Julie_B –
Seeing the Rosetta Stone. Our Guide was passionate about the museum. She was very knowledgeable about each area we visited.

While the tour was informative and as comprehensive as it could be (given the sheer magnitude of the British Museum’s holdings), there were only two downsides: (1) I’m not sure it was made clear enough that you have to get to the museum significantly before the 10:00 a.m. start of the tour, because the lines at opening, at least in late May/early June, are huge, and it may well take 30 to 45 minutes or more before you can get to the front steps where the tour starts (I was there at 9:30, and luckily didn’t have a problem); and (2) the guide was a little soft spoken and hard to hear. But for a basic, informative tour of the museum, this one does the trick.

The museum is well worth seeing. A little overwhelming so I’m glad we chose to do a 2 hour small group tour. It was my husband and I and another couple so very easy to hear our Awesome guide, Paul!! He is a history buff for sure and made everything come to life for us with all his knowledge and love for it!! Also he took his time and allowed us time to wander around the huge rooms and he even went over time. I think we had about 2 1/2 hours. Highly recommend.
Steve_V –
The British Museum was great. So many fascinating things to see. The Rosetta Stone and Egyptian mummies were amazing. However, out guide spent too much time and went into too much detail on just a few subjects and it got to be rather tedious. The best part of the tour was when we lost our guide and explored on our own.

Fabulous tour guide……..Serena.
The entrance to the museum has an all glass ceiling…..spectacular.
So many artifacts well displayed.

Melly was amazing! Very fun and knowledgeable but also very open to discussion herself! Had an amazing time and even suggested where to get lunch after. She got to know us and was all around a joy to be guided by!
