My visit to the African section at the British Museum, in particular the Benin Bronze collection was an interesting experience. Our guide, Anthony, was very knowledgeable and engaging in his explanations and I enjoyed our conversations on the origins and traditional significance of the items. I enjoyed our debate on whether these ornaments should be returned to their homeland in Nigeria. Amazingly beautiful African Art.

Fun enthusiastic guide and a great way to see the museum – even if you want to spend more time there I highly recommend starting with this tour. And our guide was great – at one point a group of young students started to listen to him and you could see their eyes light up with his knowledge and enthusiasm so much the teacher thanked him as they continued on / and this made our tour even better because of the questions and answers!!

  6. John_H

There’s so much to see & learn in the British museum that a tour is the best way to make the most out of your time i.e., focus on the best bits.
Our tour guide, Luis, was great. Easy to listen to & understand.
On my next visit to London, I’ll book Luis again for the Natural History Musem.

Becky might just be the most passionate and knowledgeable tour guide I’ve ever met. We were horrendously late for our arrival time but she patiently waited for us and showed off the key exhibits and jaw-dropping specific works in record time. I left with a better understanding of Greek sculpting, Egyptian history, and intricate antique detailing that revealed how in many ways, life in antiquity mirrors that of the present day. I cannot speak highly enough of this lovely woman. If you are short on time, request Becky, she will hit all the high points and not make you feel like a tardy jerk, which I am. Tip her well!!

Ginger, Giovanni and the Rosetta Stone. Becky was a wonderful tour guide. She made the experience, very educational and entertaining.

Had a private guided tour with Andi. He was awesome, even though my wife was a little jet lagged, he was very understanding. He knew his history were well, as well as the layout of the museum.

  16. Angela_C

I took a 2.5hr guided tour with Ellie and a few others in a small group. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She asked us what we were interested in seeing in particular. I liked the fact that she talked about some of the more controversial pieces in the museum’s collection. The tour started and ended on time. I would recommend this tour to people who want a quick overview of the British Museum.

  17. Michael_K

Although we have been to the British Museum on our own, taking a tour gave us a different perspective of the museum.
Ellie our guide did an excellent job explaining in detail what she considered the important ones, and there are many.
