We started in the old part of the city and visited several very old food shops – multi-generational, specializing in preserved meats and traditional salted cod. Then we wandered over the Tiber River to the Trastavere District, where we had a very nice dinner featuring a first course of both amatriciana and caci e pepi. This was followed by a nice veal dish as the main course. Then down the street for some gelato. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and traditional Italian food. A great evening for anyone who can walk (the pace was slow and easy).

I loved this food tour! Dimitri is an excellent guide! He told us so much about Rome that we did not know and he was super interesting to listen to! The food was excellent! We loved the little local places- we never would have found them on our own. My favourite was the cheese and the fish was to die for! Dimitri introduced me to limoncello-so tasty! I highly recommend this tour and Dimitri! It was our first night in Rome and what a way to start our vacation.
