Our guide Michel was energetic and informed. A lot to think about on this tour. We enjoyed going out to the Appian Way after and would love to see more of that!

A really interesting experience! The Capuchin museum and crypts were intriguing (and a little creepy….).
The Catacombs were simply awesome! Huge. So many people were entombed here! The narrow tunnels and the surviving artwork were fascinating. My only “complaint” would be that we got here too late – the gift shop was closed when our tour was over, so we couldn’t get postcards or other documentation of the visit (and pictures are not allowed inside). A minor issue, really, because we’ll never forget it!
Our visit to the Appian Way was also interesting and awe-inspiring!
    All-in-all a great afternoon!

I would have added photos but in either location these were not allowed. Had photo’s outside the attractions but not within, that was with the exception of the Capuchin Chapel. Overall the driver and tour guide were very good. The Catacombs may not be what you expect, they are all empty but that’s just the way it is.

Franchesca was amazing!! So sweet and so informative. Very understanding of our little boy who has autism. Ask for her when you do your tour!

Very interesting tour. Good info on history and architecture of the burial grounds. Kids enjoyed as well

Highly recommend our guide Fiona, she was informative and entertaining. Our group included kids and older adults however, Fiona was adept in keeping everyone engaged – Rating 10/10

It was fascinating, but, the catacomb part of the trip was a little disorganized. The transportation from Capuchin crypt to catacombs was easy

Fiona did a great job and I learned a lot of the history. The Capuchin Crypts were fascinating. The catacombs tour is run by the catacombs – our guide, Fiona, was not allowed to join the tour. It was very, very busy at the catacombs with twice as many people in our group as was reasonable for the spaces we were in. I would recommend the tour with the knowledge that you need to be comfortable with being squished into very small spaces.

After seeing the catacombs in Paris, we knew we had to see the ones in Rome. We were disappointed that we could not take pictures. At the first stop, Museum and Crypt of Capuchins, we had an audio guide that was very informative. We could have used another 15 to 20 minutes at this stop. The fanciful decoration of bones was as surprising as the mummified monks. We did buy a book in the gift shop to show pictures to our friends. We travelled by van to the catacombs. Our guide, Fiona, was very knowledgeable and guided us through a couple of levels. Unfortunately we were the last group so we were not able to get a book or postcard to show our friends.

This was a fascinating tour with an excellent guide. A side of Rome not often or easily seen. Very glad we decided to visit these sites

Fiona was an excellent guide! We’ve learned not only about the catacombs, but a lot of Roman history, and stories that made the tour even more memorable. Our favorite part was the crypts in Rome, where the bones were displayed as works of art, which was eerie but fascinating at the same time.

We started the tour with our very knowledgeable guide Michael. Who was warm, personable, informative & friendly. We walked a short distance to the Capuchin crypts. Michael gave us a short overview and we did a small audio tour. These crypts are not to be missed. We then jumped in our vehicle and went to the Catacombs, Michael pointed out paces of interest on the way. Told us about food and the roads and various helpful hints and information. We arrived at the Catacombs for a tour with another guide, this was in a very large group of about 30, still good and informative. We then drove back via other places of interest ie, the first Roman road. Well worth the money .

Our tour was amazing and memorable, thanks to our Guide, Fiona. The tour was filled with interesting facts, well organized, and provided transportation was first class. My husband and I highly recommend Viator and look forward to more tours.

Great experience to see how kapucins started and then deep dive into beginning of Christianity.
You will take a walk around St. Calixtus catacombs which take around 40 minutes. You will also see little bit of via appia, first road in Rome.

This is definitely a must see – I only gace 4 stars bc i felt a bit rushed but so enjoyed the experience

Walking through the catacombs was very interesting. The crypts, not so fascinating. Standing on the Appian Way was cool, also.
On the other hand, the ride in the van to the catacombs was uncomfortable because of the small vans used for hauling 6 adults.

The history of Rome and it’s buried citizens is fascinating. The crypts are as they were centuries ago. The past comes alive in the depths of subterrain Rome. It’s as if the cemetery/crypt is still active and you are walking the earth centuries ago. Haunting but beautiful.
