This was an excellent combination of activities for us. The TranzAlpine train portion of the Tour provided a great introduction to the varied terrain. The hiking portions were just challenging enough. Our tour guide was perfect in every way.

Overall, a very nice day. The train ride was beautiful. Only downside was that the open viewing car was very crowded – impossible to take pictures. A second viewing car would be good. Watching from the enclosed coach was good except that the glare from the sun on the windows and the water spots on the glass made it hard to see. The hike to Devils Punchbowl was good and Castle Hill was amazing. The driver was very good. It was a good way to spend our first day in NZ to acclimate before picking up our rental car the next day.

Wonderful experience of a lifetime. A great way to experience the Southern Alps for the first time. I particularly enjoyed the hike up to see Devils Punchbowl Falls it was beautiful. We got to visit many scenic lookout points and we’re well looked after by our guide with bottles of water, rest stops and detailed commentary.

Travelling by train from Christchurch to Arthur’s Pass will remain one of the most favourite experiences of our holiday in New Zealand. The whole day was enjoyable from beginning to end. The weather was perfect, the scenery is breathtaking, and AJ, our tour guide, brought it all together with his professionalism and kind manner. He provided plenty of opportunity for us all to get some great photographic memories and provided great commentary throughout the trip. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to soak in the natural beauty of New Zealand.

The Transalpine train views are very beautiful. Our tour had a little glitch but our guide Annush (?sp) was VERY professional and amazing throughout the day! Some nice waterfalls were seen! If ever back in Christchurch I would definitely go again!
