First, our guide was a warm and knowledgeable individual. However, I would not recommend this day trip because the overwhelming number of visitors at each place. The lines to get into the iconic sites were long and one needs to be prepared to walk and stand the entire day with no breaks. We had our lunch standing in line while we took turns going to vendors sellers snacks and drinks. Sadly, what i experienced is a classic case of overtourism that can be addressed with a reservation system to improve the quality of the visitor experience and respect community member that pray in their sacred places.

Our guide Ms. Ozlem gave us a wonderful full day tour of the historical sights in the old city. She was so well informed on the history and provided detailed information related to each sight. We stopped for lunch at a little cafe and continued on. She asked if we wanted to see a rug demonstration at a rug operation funded by the government in order to preserve the cultural trade, with no obligation to buy or hard sell. We all agreed that we wanted to see and It was interesting and lovely and truly no hard sell. At the end of day, she let us off to see the Grand Bazaar on our own, which was perfectly fine. She is a fantastic guide and we had a great tour.
