My family of two adults and three teenagers were visiting Messina via cruise ship and in port for one day. I encountered the private tour from Messina of Mount Etna Volcano and Winery Visit with Food and Wine Tasting on-line and was pleasantly surprised to learn I could customize a tour specific for my family. Nadia helping design a private itinerary which also included a beach visit. Mariolina was our tour guide and Luisa our driver who met us at the cruise pier. They were both kind, professional, knowledgeable and shared wonderful insight regarding Messina and the surrounding towns in Sicily.
On our way to Mount Etna we visited a honey farm for tasting Etna wines, liquors, honey, olive oils. We were thrilled the items were available for purchase allowing us to share the unique infused honey, olive oils and liquors as souvenirs for family and friends back home.
Next we hiked the Silvestri Craters of Mount Etna before transferring to the historic and beautiful Estate of Murgo for a tour of the wine cellars where we learned the traditional method by which champagne is made and how the volcanic soil gives the wines a particular mineral taste. We were seated at a table overlooking the picturesque vineyard while being treated to delectable food and wine tasting.
Next we transferred to Giardini Naxos for a beach break and shopping before driving back to the port of Messina.
We thoroughly enjoyed getting to experience Sicily with friendly, cultured and passionate guides. Thank you for an incredible experience!

Mariolina was a great hostess and was very informative. Johnny was an excellent driver. Together they shared Sicily with us – a honey farm, Mt Etna, a phenomenal winery and a quaint dessert shop. I would recommend this trip to anyone going to the area!

We visited Mt Etna and then had lunch at a grapevine covered taverns overlooking a vineyard. The food was among the best we had on our two week trip to Italy and Greece. Wonderful salad, sausages, and wines were all served by pleasant and accommodating waitstaff. We also had one of the vintners explain their process. Our guide Maurizio’s passion for his region shone through the entire visit. He was extremely informative and pleasant. We felt like we were being shown around by a friend.

We had such a blast with Roberto on this tour! He was so passionate and knowledgeable about his job around where he lives. The honey, olive oil, and liquor tasting was so fun and delicious! Then we visited the top of Etna where we got to learn about the history. And finished it all of with an amazing lunch and wine tasting with great views and a tour of the historic winery. Highly recommend and wish we could be back there now!

We had a lovely day in Sicily with a drive to Mt Etna, walking along the crater, then a very tasty lunch with typical Sicilian foods that were all unusual for an American palate. Maurizio made an extra stop for gelato for us, which was very much appreciated. This was a very good use of our port time in Messina- the drive is long, but the views and personalized experience were perfect.

Such a personal and beautiful experience. We went to a family owned vineyard that was just stunning with a delicious meal. Icing on the cake was our tour guide, Sergio, who was so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. The volcano is a must see and I hope when we return we can spend more time in Taormina.

Wow – what a great way to spend the day in Messina. Marco picked us up and provided us with a fun and educational tour. He is a great driver, and really knows his Sicilian history. The winery was amazing, had excellent wine, great food and great service.

Long drive to Mt. Etna and then visit was very short. Our guide/driver was a bit inflexible and we just had to put our foot down just fit in a little more of a walk. We found the day a bit boring. I think there is a lot to do at Mt. Etna and we missed out.
