So incredible to get to go to places we would never have known about or gone to alone. We had the best guide who was a rocker guide from Ireland. We walked for 4 hours through the most interesting places stopping for snacks and finally a Izakaya dinner experience. So much fun for our trip grand finale!

Our guide Domenic has a great knowledge of the Osaka area and relayed this in our tour.
I enjoyed every aspect of the tour, especially as I would not have know about the places we visited and the story behind each place.
Would definitely recommend the Deep Backstreet Osaka Tour.

really intriguing and surprising adventure. we walked down MANY back alleys and frankly if Dom hadn’t told us it was safe, I would not have gone down them. fascinating. dom answered every question we could put to him. saw lots of fun and exciting streets and places (including the red light district). the food at the end was a great capper to the night. take your walking shoes!

Such an amazing night. So many highlights! Our guide Tommy was brilliant. Loved the insights into the hidden Osaka.

Loved it! You learn so much and I felt safe as a solo traveller. Follow the rules and you will have a great experience

You have to do this tour!! Our guide, Kevin, was very informative, communicative and personable! He gave us a comprehensive tour of the back streets of Osaka. He was very detailed and knows a lot of Japanese culture and the language. We felt very safe and secure with Kevin, and we learned so much from him.

This was an amazing tour with so much unknown information provided to us. Kevin was a joy and made sure our safety/ fun was his top priority. He knew what he was doing and has my praise and thanks for making my Japan experience so special.

Great tour , sacha was good and has great personality, he told us all the highlights of Japan and was very detailed, well presented and professional. I highly recommend touring with him. Well done Sacha, you were great!

My only complaint is that the tour description needs to be more specific. I arrived with an empty stomach thinking we would be stopping for food along the way, but the dinner wasn’t until after 9:30pm! So in reality, you do the regular 3 hr walking tour with a quick stop for a small bite of takoyaki, and once the regular tour is done (and you wait for everyone who hadn’t purchased the dinner option to say goodbye to the guide and get directions back to their respective hotels), you FINALLY get to go to the restaurant to eat. At this point I was a zombie from jet lag and hunger, so the dinner wasn’t enjoyable at all. I’d recommend skipping the tour’s dinner option and eating before. Aside from all of this, the walking tour portion was interesting.

Sasha was very informative about Japanese culture and living experience. It was interesting to see what’s down the back alleys

We didn’t really know what to expect going into this and it turned out to be one of the best parts of our trip to Japan! This tour let’s you in on the grittier side of Japan and Miko was an incredible guide. If you’re here looking at this go ahead and book it!

You can always understand a city, or country, a little more when you get to see some of the underbelly. This tour was eye-opening and challenged some of our pre-conceived ‘truths’ about Japan.

We had a fantastic tour, Michael gave us lots of history and information about Osaka and took us to lots of interesting places. The dinner option was delicious and a great addition, thank you for a wonderful night

What a great tour. The guide was genuinely friendly and having fun doing what he loves. It’s my fourth time in Osaka, but I’ve never delved into the more hidden parts of the city on my other trips, and I wouldn’t be able to if not for this tour.

  17. Angela_W

Our guide Michael was a legend. He was very knowledgeable and shared stories of the darker side of Japan. The red light district was an interesting experience and not something you would get to see or exclusive anywhere else.
    I highly recommended this tour.

Sasha, our guide, had interesting stories and histories about the areas we went to during the tour. He was invested in our learning and enjoying. I chose the dinner option and that was a mistake. The sponsors of the tour had us eating in an unwelcoming, tiny and uncomfortable place with poor quality food, really only good for (overpriced) alcohol.

Really interesting. We had a chance to see parts of Osaka that many tourists do not see. Tommy was an excellent guide.

  20. Myra_V

Tommy was a great guide. An entertaining way to learn about aspects of Osaka and Japanese culture that aren’t covered in standard tours. The walk through the red light district was particularly interesting.
