We had an incredible time on this excursion. Pickup at the train station was seemless and the guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We especially enjoyed the park and Shrine in Nara. And the Bamboo forest. He was constantly checking in and customizing the excursion to our likes and needs.

Great tour guide! Had a wonderful experience with our tour guide Steven! Never felt rushed and encouraged us to take however much time we needed to enjoy each site. Planning on booking him also when we go to Osaka. Highly recommend Steven!

This tour is phenomenal and exceeded my high expectations. It may be the highlight of my 2-week trip to Japan.
It is hosted by Unemoto LLC and covers must-see sites within Kyoto and Nara. My tour was led by Aiko (the owner) with safe, efficient driving and support from Allen.
Both are friendly, highly knowledgeable, and able to communicate fluidly in your language of choice: English, Japanese or Tagalog.
If you’re anything like me. You research endlessly and want assurance the tour experience you’re interested in will match the cost. Let me assure you, this tour will. Whether you know absolutely nothing about the region and sites, or already know lots and want unique insider perspectives.
    Notes and Recommendations:
    1. The tour is thoughtfully planned and well-executed. Aiko and Allen know exactly where to start and end to maximize your return on investment. The ride is comfortable and safe.
    2. Check the forecast in advance and bring proper attire. It rained lightly throughout my tour but I was prepared.
    3. Wear comfortable hiking boots or quality tennis shoes with good grip. Several sites are elevated (e.g., Fushimi Inari Shrine) and require treks up hills and/or stone steps that can be slippery when wet.
    4. Consider packing a travel-friendly lunch and snacks if you’re taking the tour in Autumn. The sun sets early around 4:30pm. Being able to eat without stopping for 1-2 hours at a restaurant will afford you time to “see” everything planned and possibly cover areas off the beaten path.

    5. Don’t be afraid to ask questions you may have. Even if unrelated to the sites. Aiko and Allen are happy to answer. For instance — I had questions about Japan’s education systems, corporate life, music and entertainment, holidays, various foods and drinks, etc.
    6. Prior to founding Unemoto LLC, Aiko worked as a Teppanyaki Chef in Kobe. She can provide restaurant recommendations for the best Kobe or Wagyu beef. Or, if you’re a plant-based eater like me, she can offer some of the rare spots nearby. I chose to dine at Itadakizen Kyoto, a favorite of vegan travelers. The restaurant also has a well regarded location in London.
    7. Enjoy. It’s an unforgettable experience. Online photos and videos don’t do the region justice.

The Nara trip was great. The the scale of the statues for the time period is remarkable and having Deer bow when you feed them creates an unexpected joy. All the stops were equally as impressive. Our guide was excellent. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting a personalized, professional experience.
