The guide was excellent and knowledgeable. The art and grounds were amazing. We enjoyed everything about the tour.

Our leader was an art historian and gave us lots of new information. For example pointed out that Bernini was only 10 or so when he did one of the sculptures. Also had a nice tour of the park and helped us catch a cab!

TEN STARS! In terms of visiting a gallery and enjoying the artwork, The Borghese Gallery was my favorite experience of my Italy trip! It is a magnificent collection of Rennaissance art -and, as you can see from the photos – it is NOT crowded. (Whereas almost 7 million people visit the Vatican Museum annually). They restrict the number of visitors – and limit you to two hours (which is plenty of time). You can take your time admiring the sculptures while slowly walking around them, spend some time admiring the details of an artist’s brush-strokes, or just admire the architecture, the marble columns, the painted ceilings, the mosaics, etc. A really nice experience. The guide was good and knowledgeable about the gallery and the artwork within. It is not located on a Metro line, so it is a little bit of a challenge to get to, but well worth it. Generally reservations are needed months in advance. I met quite a few travelers who told me that they were unable to get tickets for this gallery.

A few moments late and couldn’t find group to meet up with. Toured ourselves and had a great time without guide.

Our guide was excellent. Her knowledge was so extensive that we felt like we were in a university’s art history class. For that reason I would not recommend this tour for children, but it’s perfect for anyone who really wants to learn.

Salvatore was an amazingly knowledgeable guide offering both historical as well as artistic insight. He kept a good pace and offered us a wonderful perspective on the Borghese.

Very easy instructions guide was on time and very efficient in getting the small group of people together and ready to go. Having only 2 hours inside Sal covered the massive amount of art and information in a very easy way for all of us to understand.

Tour was moved to earlier time, we were not informed. We received email confirming wrong time day before tour. As result we arrived to the villa and were denied entrance

Our tour was led by an expert in art history. She brought the gallery and the Villa to life with her expert storytelling! This was my favorite tour in Rome!

  12. Bob_P

Our guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and entertaining and she made our visit that much more enjoyable and educational. She wasa guide for a 15:00 hr. tour on May 18.

It was incredible. A must-see gem of Rome and our tour guide was so incredible. Her love of the art was so passionate and contagious. Truly you cannot see the real Borghese collection without her interpretation.

Viator apparently screwed up as the tour guide refused to understand that we were a party of 6 not 5. A sixth person had been added and I had a confirm which I showed the guide. He said he had only 5 and it wasn’t his problem. If it wasn’t that someone didn’t show up our 6th would have been excluded. The tour itself was good.

If you only have time to do one gallery in Rome, besides the Vatican Museums, then the Borghese Gallery is the gallery that you have to do! The sculptures by Bernini and paintings by Raphael, just to name a few, will absolutely take your breath away. You also get to walk through the stunning Borghese Villa to get to the Gallery. I would suggest going early or planning on staying afterwards so that you can spend some time in the park. They restrict the amount of people that can go in so you don’t have to fight your way through crowds to see anything. As most artworks are not behind protective glass they have strict rules as to what you can bring into the gallery for example you cannot really take a bag unless it is tiny and you cannot take any water with you. Renate was an outstanding guide who was exceedingly knowledgeable, witty and kind. I would definitely recommend doing this tour.

This company was inconsiderate of the fact that I couldn’t get a ticket to the gallery at the point that they cancelled on me. If you can’t guide my tour the tickets for the venue that you supposedly purchased in advance of our tour should be offered to me as this was a skip the line tour and the tickets were sold out till next month. I also tried to reach them in Reply to a text they sent – which they don’t allow, via email, and via the Viator site to try to make this work out somehow. I was offered a different day and by the time I contacted them they said they couldn’t reschedule me for any of the tours the next day even though that was offered a few times as an option. Very disappointed!!!

Fantastic experience and our tour guide was phenomenal. We were a little late due to a bike race, but caught our tour just in time.

Wonderful guide Anastasia, very knowledgeable and has a ton of passion for her work! He tour was amazing and we learned a lot 🙂

We arrived at the appointed place and time by taxi only to find NO guide. We waited, we asked all the other guides and we asked in the office. No-one knew anything about it. If they did try to contact us it must have gone astray or to an address we could not access whilst we were overseas. We had previously confirmed it as requested.
We finally got onto a phone number by one of the other guides calling on their Italian phone, and found out no-one was coming for a paid in advance tour. There were four of us and another couple waiting as well. By that time even all the tickets from the ticket office were sold out for the day. It was very disappointing.

Frederica was an amazing guide. Despite the rain she was still able to take us through the gardens and provided excellent commentary throughout the tour. This is an amazing palazzo… not to be missed for all of your art lovers out there!
