We watched 32 matches in three hours. They were all so interesting. The history of Sumo in the entrance museum was very helpful to understanding this unique sporting event in Japan. Our tour guide was a lifelong Sumo wrestling expert and added a lot to the whole tour. Highly recommended.

I totally enjoyed this activity. We did skip some of it, mainly because of the heat and the lack of interest in some of the tour, but with the idea of seeing as many matches as possible. Except for the audience, the whole thing was great. I don’t know why some of those people came, because instead of watching the matches, they spent their entire time running up and down the stairs to the snack bar. Our seats were pretty good, seeing as they were on the aisle and so the only time the view was blocked was when someone was coming up or down to/from the snack bar.

Fantastic experience. Our guide Toshi meet us at the station. We walked to the Sumo stadium which was approximately at 5 min walk.
Toshi explained the history of Sumo, we had a quick visit to the Sumo museum and then a tour of the stadium. We had some free time to buy sumo souvenirs.
The Sumo competition was amazing we had a really fantastic afternoon. So much history and culture. The Japanese people love Sumo it’s a family affair, for young and old. We all had ear pieces so Toshi could explain everything that was going on. We are now all sumo experts!
I highly recommend seeing the Sumo competition and I highly recommend Toshi as a guide!

We booked this experience even before the actual trip to Japan as they only happen 3 times a year in Tokyo and did we make a great decision. There is nothing more Japanese than Sumo and Miyako our guide was so passionate and knowledgable about the sport it was memorable for us all. We were taken for a very enjoyable meal after the days competition which finished off our time in Japan perfectly. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone.
