I really enjoyed this tour – the guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject – she brought it alive. She was very approachable and friendly, and happy for people to ask questions. I would highly recommend this.

The entire tour was very informative. I particularly enjoyed the wall painted with likenesses of famous Sicilians who played important roles in the No Mafia movement. Lots of information was given in a relaxed and unhurried manner. We were all encouraged to ask questions too,

Decent guide but misleading – this is ALL about the mafia! Didn’t get much history of Palermo beyond that. Disappointed

  4. Yves_L

Very interesting tour; learned so much about Mafia history . Guide provides a lot of info . More a local militant than official guide. She explains this. Meeting point easy access. I strongly recommend as a travel agent.

This tour so far has been the highlight of our trip to Sicily. It was so interesting and enlightening. Stefano was an excellent guide and story teller. As interesting as the tour was, it was sad to learn what the Sicilians suffer due to the presence of mafia. I will definitely be sending a donation and spreading the word.

Our guide Stefano was terrific. He really is passionate about the history in Sicily and the Anti-mafia. It is a lot of walking but well worth it. After our tour ended he even helped us with directions to another location we wanted to visit. He knows this city very well.

My mother and I were so looking forward to this tour so we could immerse ourselves in the history of the mafia and the movement to push back against the mafia in Sicily. We were not disappointed! Our tour guide Linda was excellent! She was well-spoken and very knowledgeable about the history and the anti-mafia movement. She also related her own personal experiences growing up in the 80’s and 90’s when the mafia had a firm grip on Sicilian society and when the anti-mafia movement first planted its roots in Sicily.

The tour was very interesting and informative. The guide was terrific and knew a great deal, and was able to communicate it in a very clear way. I would recommend the guide and the tour to anyone who has any interest at all in the mafia in Sicily.

We learned a lot during this tour and visited some remarkable places. We liked the fact that our guide shared a lot of personal stories too. At the same time, we found the price too much for the experience, as we did not see that many places. I guess for a 3 hour tour some more hidden and special places could be added.

A great eye opener to living with the
Mafia. Let’s hope the No Mafia culture keeps growing in Palermo making life easier for everyone.

We learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed it

Our tour guide Hermis, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about changing the perception of Sicily and the roll of “the mafia” in Sicily today.

Wasn’t expecting it to be so confronting but it made you think about a lot of things and put it into perspective. The Godfather is no longer my favourite movie as it romanticises death and brutality. Would recommend tour

We met our guide in front of Teatro Massimo and joined a group of 12 people for this thoroughly interesting and different tour. To be honest, we chose this tour because it was the only English speaking tour of Palermo we could find at the time. However we were not disappointed. It was one of the most interesting tours we have done and to hear the story of the Mafia from a local’s perspective was eye opening. Our Tour Guide, Valeria, was passionate about the subject, so much so that at one point she was reduced to tears recounting some of the stories. Valeria really painted a true picture of what it was like living under Mafia rule and how important it is for Sicily to be known for more that just the violence inflicted by that group. Part of the tour also involved a walk through the food market which was amazing and we revisited it the next day. The 3 hours flew by and at the end we felt that we wanted to give Valeria a tip but we didn’t want to embarrass her as nobody else was doing so. Instead, we followed her recommendation of a visit to the No Mafia Museum which was a really interesting photographic exhibition and at the end we were able to make a donation as our way of thanking Valeria for such an informative tour.

Artillio was fantastic. Clearly passionate about this subject and his home city and a natural speaker. It was a great 3 hours that flew by despite the scorching heat.
