Both the elephant orphange/giraffe center are great experiences and definitely worth a visit. I booked this tour because I thought I I’d get knowledge, cultural information and stories from my local tour guide along the way. My tour guide didn’t speak much and didn’t provide me with anything except transportation. I tried to make conversation and I asked many questions but would get short answers. Example: It was a Saturday and I saw school buses. I asked him if school is in session on Saturday’s. His reply was “yes”. Come to find out (from a separate tour) school is not in session on Saturday and the school busses I saw were for a field trip. It was just me on the tour so it would’ve been great to have some nice conversation/educational information which I thought was part of the experience. At $115 plus the cost of lunch I feel like I was overcharged. I believe I could’ve had the same experience by booking an Uber to both of these places and it would’ve been much cheaper.

This was an amazing tour! It was amazing to learn about and feed giraffes at the Giraffe Center! The Elephant Orphanage was also a powerful experience as we were able to hear the individual stories of each of the animals. They love to play in the mud hole and might just send mud flying right toward you as you watch. The bead factory was educational and inspiring. And we finished the day with a nice stop for lunch and souvenirs. Douglas was an excellent guide from start to finish, sharing so much information and making sure we had the best experience possible.

Douglas as a guide was first rate. He knew the optimal timing and position for both the giraffes and elephants. He was a good driver and informative on both Nairobi and the animals.
He also was accommodating to our lunch request, highly recommend Cultiva!
