David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage Half-Day Tour in Nairobi USD 69. Visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust on a half-day tour of a Nairobi elephant orphanage that’s home to adorable baby elephants that have been rescued by conservationists. Unlike some tour options that feature a long list of stops, the focus is on the elephant orphanage alone, so you’ll have even more time to watch the baby elephants bottle feed and play with their keepers..

Elephant Orphanage is awesome. Our driver Stephen was great. It was an excellent experience in every way.

The elephant orphanage was incredible, it was amazing to be so close to the baby elephants and hear their stories. The Sheldrick itself gets 5 stars from me easily, a must-do if you’re in the area.
However I have given this experience 4 stars because on the drive back to the hotel we made a stop that none of the group knew about or had asked for, so we had to go on this mini tour and look around a shop. Bearing in mind it was about 1pm at this point and all we wanted to do was get back and have lunch. Also one of the people in the vehicle was going to the giraffe centre after lunch and our driver proposed that we wait for her in the bus while she had lunch, we had to ask to just be taken back to our hotels.

Fantastic experience! Informative narrator explained the history of the babies and allowed for public Q/A time.

    Bonne expérience
Le guide était très gentil et nous a fourni de très bonnes explications
Il est d’ailleurs un expert sur les oiseaux. Ce guide est à recommander

The description was misleading and in the end the ‘tour’ was not 4 hours. They were late to pick up, the ‘tour’ consisted of an hour at the orphanage with 40 other tourists and then a visit to a bead factory. I could have done the whole thing for less than half the price myself. There was no benefit to being on the tour.

This was an excellent tour and our tour guide Patrick was pleasant and timely and ensured we would arrive early to be sure we would have a good position to view the elephants. I highly recommend this tour!!

It was so beautiful, heartwarming and inspiring to meet elephants, to know their stories and see how well they are being taken care at Sheldrick. I have adopted Taabu, a 2 year old elephant.

Please inform your driver Kalvin and all others (Kelvin was my driver for the tour to see the elephants yesterday), that they are responsible for the customers from door to door.
I was a solo yesterday among a family from England in the van, and in the end he asked me to go with a different driver for the ride back to the hotel because it was more convenient for him.. The family was trying to use his services so they could go off program to have lunch, then onto the giraffe center. He was willing to accomodate them by having me drive back with a different driver and probably a different company.. When I explained that I would have no recourse with Viator if anything happened, and that I had paid extra because Viator charges solo travelers extra, he decided to drive me back to the hotel. However, he’s trying to start his own business, and wanted to ensure that he had my phone number correct, so he could get ideas from me about starting a tour business. I have no desire to help him out and don’t want to hear from him.
Please explain to him that this is inappropriate all the way around. I’m glad you found a spot for me to be able to see the elephants, but after that, my enjoyment of the program decreased immediately. I am not a customer who should be pawned off so he could continue to grow his business. I’ve used Viator all over the world. Please know that this is unacceptable, and certainly the first Ive experienced in all my travels.. And I paid extra for it!

Loved hearing the names and stories of the orphans and knowing they will be safe and returned to the wild

Wonderful time. Our guide was super nice and knowledgeable. He made sure we would be at the perfect spot to see the elephants and arranged for us to go to our next destination after the tour. The experience was amazing!

The Elephant Orphanage was a great experience. Their success of the orphanage in returning elephants to the wild is really encouraging. The elephants are playful and funny to watch run around. Enjoyed a few other animal sitings during the tour. The bead factory was significantly better than the standard tourist trap souvenir stand.

Such an amazing activity and an opportunity to donate to such a good cause. We adopted an elephant it’s so hard not to when you see them playing and know their background.
