Terrible tour. I think they combined two tours in one. Our bus was so overcrowded the guide had to stop in the middle of the tour to let more people get on our already full bus. She then had to call a taxi because there were not enough seats, and it was a security violation. The excess people were standing. At this point some people just got off on their own never to come back on. It was labeled as Marseille Half-Day Small Group, a complete dishonest description of the size. The official description begins with “Spend the morning exploring Marseilles’ historical neighborhoods on a small-group tour with a guide”. Maybe their definition of a small group is a bus so overcrowded there were not enough seats. We were happy when it ended, glad it was not a full day.

We had signup for small group tour. We were at meeting site 30 min before tour no one ever came with sign
Lady came never addressed group
Couple we were talking with had small group tour and another couple came
There was another larger group with different number ticket on other side of area
Lady spoke to them but never addressed the group or made effort to talk to us. Again no sign we were waiting for our guide
She spoke to her group to follow approx 40 people
We waited at meeting site for guide with sign

This is not a guided tour. This is a taxi driver, who takes you to the main attractions of the area. Thankfully, we had a taxi driver, who tried really hard to be a good guide. But we have friends who had a taxi driver, who stayed on his phone the whole time and didn’t tell them anything about the sites. We were also in a taxi van, which means three people in our group were facing the wrong direction to where they could not see the sites. (also, driving backwards makes you feel carsick ). Just not what we expected.

I would take this tour again. You have to walk the green mile outside the ship, but the tour guide, Paco, and the driver Tom were great. There is so much to see and time is of the essence. The tour was very informative and the driver very careful. You must be ready to walk. This is not an easy pace tour. It is active, but it was worthy! The bus was comfortable.

The tour was very good. We would do this tour again. Our tour guide gave us his all and we walked away learning a lot about Marseille. We saw all the sights and had an opportunity to sample navettes . He even showed us his set of Bocce balls and how the game was played. He was very accommodating to another family in the group who had a family member with mobility issues and children but still gave us a lot of attention as well. That being said the company could have communicated with the customer the day before where to meet the guide (we weren’t really sure where to go) and they could also have a sign identifying the company. We had to actually walk toward the seimen club , which I didn’t find out until after I called the company and we had to ask different groups if they were on the same tour we were taking. Still would not trade this experience for anything else!

We paid for guided tour of Marseille. What we got was a taxi driver who was supposed to take us around the city and show us all touristy spots. The first thing he said when he got into the taxi that he is NOT a guide. We got to the first stop, we got out of the car and he was on the phone. His taxi had 8 seats and 3 of them were faced backwards. There were 2 families on the tour, and someone from another family was concerned about getting car sick going backwards. Not to mention, it’s hard to see the sites going backwards. We ended up leaving the tour after first stop and got on Hop on Hop off tour. I requested the refund from Viator and it was approved. The awful “tour” company name is DOMITIA TOURS. DO NOT use that particular company.

It was disappointing to find out 3 days ahead of time that the small group we had booked was tuned into a large tour bus. Through texts, the tour operator said they would provide a credit back to discount our group of 6 that we had paid for, but I never saw a credit back.
NOTE: When you leave the terminal, go out the front doors (there are 3 double doors at the front). Turn right and follow the green line. You will pass a parking lot on your right, then cross the street near the terminal checkpoint for the taxis – keep going! You will walk several more minutes and pass a larger parking lot on your left. After you pass that lot, the Seaman’s Club is the grey building on your left with a covered patio area. Additional note – once you meet up with your guide, you have another walk of about the same length to get to the bus! You also have to walk all of this after your day of touring to get back to the ship!
My 2 cents to the tour company: Charge everyone $2 more per person for the tour and arrange for everyone to be picked up outside of the terminal with all of the other buses. This is a ridiculous way to save some money that most people would be willing to pay for.

Great tour! Paco was amazing. Everyone knows that your guide can make or break an experience. You can tell he loves what he does, he wants people to have a great experience, and he is very knowledgeable. Our only compliant was we booked the 4 hour tour and wished we had selected the 8 hour.
