We had a fantastic trip with our guide, Ludo. He was prompt and welcoming and provided so much great local information. We had a bonus ride to Aix du Provence to pick up other guests. Les Baux de Provence mediaeval village was awesome and we then spent an hour relaxing at the Pont du Gard where it was so warm people were swimming in the river. Avingon for lunch in the old town via the Palais des Papes and finishing with a lovley wine tasting at Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Ludo drove us all day in heavy traffic and was so calm and relax. He made the trip that much more enjoyable.

We spent 5 days in Marseille but I really wanted to get out into the countryside and at minimum see Avignon. We looked at train tickets but getting to and from the stations on each end was extra hassle and money. This was perfect. It was just my husband and I and our 15 year old, as it was would have been too long of a day for our younger kids. We saw so much more than Avignon, and each place we stopped, I would have stayed longer, but I would have regretted missing other stops. It was the best way to spend a day in Provence, if you only get one!

❤ that Ludovic answered all of my qyuestions! Whether it was about legend, environment, culture, history or food! He was an amazongly generous guide! I would recommend it for anyone wanting to get an overview of the provinces.
My only disappointment in an amazing experience was having to crowd into the truck. Though I am plus size woman and now I realize I could have sat in a bigger seat in the back.
Thank you Ludovic for a very generous tour, careful driving, good natured hosting. I loved it-

The tour delivers what it says on the tin – you’ll see/experience four very interesting and different Provencal locales in a trip that lasts under 11 hours (traffic depending). Top tip – if it’s warm weather, take your own bottled water or buy it as the opportunity presents itself as you stop – none is offered by the tour (and none at the winery either).
Our tour guide Nathalie greeted us at the pickup location, and kept up a great demeanour throughout the day, constantly divulging items of interest.
There is a good balance between time in the vehicle (which was comfortable with good A/C) and time spent at the different locations.
First up after around 80 minutes in the van was Baux-de-Provence, which was charming, and there was sufficient time to get right to the very top of the castle there – which was a bit precarious in places – to see the stunning view.
Next after a short drive was Pont-du-Gard, which is quite special – it’s hard not to be slightly awestruck when you first see it. Whilst you can walk across the lower span, this tour doesn’t include entry into the museum or to the short walkway along the very top of the bridge – we decided to go in to the museum anyway even though we only had a short time to look round it – I’d say that if you have more than 15 mins having seen the structure itself, the museum is well worth a look (it’s located by the car park for the departure point).
We found there was only just enough time to enjoy lunch and also tour the Palais du Papes (but not the gardens or the bridge) in Avignon – but from what we read the Palais is the highlight of the town so we were satisfied to have seen it (I don’t doubt you could see the whole lot if you went round at pace). Avignon itself is a very pretty town if you get away from the main square by the palais and down the side streets – it’s on the list to return to for a stay at some point.
Finally, the wine tasting at Maison Bouachon in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. This takes the form of a 10 minute intro to the winery and their process, followed by a tasting of three different examples of their produce.
We tasted their white wine (produced in small quantities and not exported), their 2016 CdP (the best of the bunch for us), and their Dedication varietal. Contrary to another reviewer’s comments, I wouldn’t say these are “three thimbles” of wine – you are probably getting 75mls per glass, which is enough to get a decent impression – but you won’t be rolling in the aisles either.
Of course, one must exit the winery through the gift shop – it should be noted that, sadly, there is no discount in buying wine here at the source – the wine industry realised a while back that if you’ve got the money and inclination to come all the way to CdP, you can probably afford to pay standard retail pricing for the wine.
Overall, the tour itself is good value for money for a full day in Provence. Recommended.

Ampliar tiempo en les Baux , we were very little time there at all, not told about the Castle and were there so early tgey were barely setting up (9am). Our tour points were opposite as listed so we wound up at the Winery which was interesting. We returned at 6pm, 10 hours.
I have been on many Viator tours, always informative, insightful and this one barely set times and asked “are there any questions?” But not much info forthcoming, so do your homework ahead of time to be able to ask a question.

I highly recommend the Provence in a Day Tour from Marseille. It was great to see the medieval towns outside of Marseille. It was a long day, but definitely worth the time. Although we spent several hours in Avignon, even more time would have been great as there is so much to see.

It was a great trip, thanked to Ludo, our amazing tourguide. He was kind, nice, had a lot of knowledge about everything and drove us safely through the entire day. We had a pleasant group, with open-minded people from Ireland and Canada, 7 persons in totally.
We visited Les-Beaux-de-Provence, Pont du Garde, Avignon and a vinery, Chateauneuf de Papes.
The only thing I would change, is to get more time in Avignon, maybe 3 hours would be enough, because we went to visit the Palais de Papes, we had to buy tickets by ourselves and it took us 1 hour to visit, but you can use 2 hours if you want. We had a 30 minutes lunch than we had to leave, no time for Bridge d’Avignon or other spots in the city.
Vinetasting very interesting and professional, nice people.

The tour operator never showed up after half an hour of waiting, did not answer phone calls, and refused to issue a refund afterwards.

Unable to make trip as my husband was unable. No cancellation option available at short notice.
Other family on trip and driver seemed unaware she was missing 2 passengers ?

Seeing Avignon and the Pont du Gard were amazing. Could’ve done without the winery and Les Beau. Wish we had a little more time and guidance in Avignon. Spent too much of it getting lost and looking for a decent place to eat. Guide was pleasant and organized, but didn’t provide a lot of value. She apologized for talking too much and sharing “too much history” but we wanted more. There was a lot of quiet time in the van.

Great tour with Lucy (spelling). Just us 2 and her. Just wished it had been warmer, especially at 1st stop where it was 0C 32F and only 1 store and 1 restaurant and about 5 other tourists! Good time in Avignon. Recommend MA Belle Cuisine for lunch. It was full so we sat at bar by pizza oven. Yummy, inexpensive, filling food and clean bathroom. Wine stop a little over the top and overpriced wine. Highly recommend. She said 2 or more will mean no last minute cancel!

Caroline was a great guide!! Really sweet and made sure everyone was safe. I would definitely recommend.

Excellent, knowledgeable guide in Sebastian. A lot of sites squeezed into a day with interesting commentary and a good balance of time spent alone and with the group. We enjoyed the day!

  14. Connie_C

This was a lot of driving and not much to see along the way. Disappointed that the drive wasn’t prettier. Saw three sites but little information about any of them. Could have spent my day in a better way. The van was very nice, though.

The beauty of the Pont du Gard and its surroundings really impressed us. Baux was charming and the visit to Chateau Fortia was very enjoyable. We had a great group and our guide Alex couldn’t have been better.

Our guide Ines did a great job! It was great to see everything and we had time for lunch and the best wine ever!

  17. Paul_E

Excellent guide, Sebastian made the trip a memorable experience.Would recommend the long but enjoyable day.

Our guide Peylon was such a gent and filled in the time from place to place with interesting stories. He was very passionate about each site and made sure that everyone was included and enjoyed the tour no matter what their level of knowledge. The village of Les Baux was beautiful but my favourite was Avignon and we could easily have spent more time here. The Pont Le Gard aqueduct was stunning.
We have been to other wine tastings and this one was a little disappointing and the wines were overpriced. Nothing to do with the guide of course.
