I was staying in Marseille for two nights and decided in this tour. The best thing about these Viator tours is the small group numbers.
Only 8 of us in a minivan with our guide, so it was so much better than being amongst a bus load of tourists trying to follow a guide.
We drove to Notre- Dame De la Garde, which is the Basilica on the hill overlooking Marseille and a good photo stop. Drove through Marseille and out to Cassis stopping at another ocean site along the way. The highlight for me was the drive up to Cap Caneill. It’s a headland between the towns of Cassis and La Ciotat and is the highest sea cliff of France. It’s a wow spot , excellent for photos and the road is sometimes shut if the winds are too strong. Fantastic view overlooking Cassis. Be aware there are no guard rails anywhere and some tourists were getting pretty close to the edge, but it’s not to be missed. We went down to Cassis, where we had a couple of hours to wander. There was an option to go on a 45 min cruise to Les Calanques, but I opted to explore the streets of Cassis and enjoy an ice cream sundae. If you’ve got limited time on your trip, it’s an ideal tour to go on.

This was a really nice tour with a very friendly guide. The boat trip was the highlight of the tour. I would just improve it by allowing costumers to stay for a bit longer in the city of Cassis, but anyways I would highly recommend it!

Gale was such a great tour guide! She took us around all the best parts of Marseille before leaving to go to Cassis. She was so full of knowledge about Marseille! Luckily the winds did not affect our boat ride, but she had several other options lined up in case it was cancelled. The boat ride into the calanques was amazing! Unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. There was a good amount of driving time on this tour but Gale filled it all in with stories and history. Well worth the money!

Our guide Matt was great very knowledgeable about Marseilles. The trip was interesting and there were plenty of stops for photographs. The Basilica and the view of Cassis from the top of the mountain were the best. The boats from Cassis to see the Calanques were very busy so we had to wait for a while but it was worth the wait. Many of the boats can take disabled passengers and it is easy to get on. The boats are quite large so that you can take lots of photos and walk around with care whilst in motion. The geology and the limestone cliffs are fantastic.

This was worth taking a train ride from Paris to Marseilles. Wonderful views, our tour guide was amazing. Cassis. The Calanques and Calsnques National Park…the views…amazin!

This tour was a great way to see Marseille and Cassis. Florence was superb with her knowledge and very friendly, conducting the tour in both French and English. The small minibus however was not the greatest way to travel and we were squashed in the rear with others reluctant to change around and although there was A/C it wasn’t great. The other negative was the time given in Cassis. The trip is advertised as tour and boat trip but you MUST read the small print because otherwise you will be conned and have to pay an extra 24 euros. Apparently it was discounted but I am not so sure. The boat trip sadly though was all in French again with no taking into account tourists. Then to have to hang around in Cassis wasn’t great as we could have done a longer boat trip. So only 3 stars from us but it is something we would consider again if we revisited if only for Florence’s knowledge hence the 3 stars

It was rainy but tour guide was helpful. But not so with giving a lot of info of areas as we passed thru them, rode through parts of Marseille for 20-30 mins without very much comments. Otherwise OK.

This private tour was very nice. We saw many sites in marseille including the Notre dame de la garde. Jeremy has lots of information to give and was a safe driver. The best part was the small quaint town of Cassis. Jeremy took us to the top of the mountain to oversee the town, which was beautiful! The boat tour was optional (~18 euros per person) but definitely worth it! Would highly recommend!

The trip was started with a short history and a panorama view of this splendid city, than we have stopped in the top of the hill to visit Notre Dame de la Garde ( was such a good surprise) than we traveled to Chassis up to the top as the weather was perfect ( 2nd surprise). The guide was very knowledgeable and funny!

We went on many excursions during our two week trip to Europe, and this was the very best one. It was our guide’s first day as a solo guide, and he was absolutely wonderful. He took us to see so many beautiful places, told us great history, helped us get to the boat to see the Calanques (so beautiful – though I wish we could have swam in them), and we even got a little time on the beach in Cassis. My only caution is to be sure you can get back to your hotel or ship — we had trouble getting a cab or Uber during rush hour to take us back to the cruise port and almost missed our boat. It would be nice if this tour operated considered port pick up and drop off.

Our guide was most accomodating and professional. When in Cassis, he was able to book a 45 min tour of the Calanques which 3 of us wanted to expérience. Thanks to his suggestion, I was also able to go for a swim at the Cassis beach as we had two hours there. I gave the tour a 4 star rather than five because i had trouble understanding his English and had expected a tour in French. I would have also liked to learn more about Marseille and see more of the city. Given that we only had a few hours, though, I understand the constraints. However, in Notre Dame de la Garde it would have been great to have him comment on the panorama before our eyes.

Lovely tour and a great guide in Ade. Saw so much in just a few hours. I’d have liked this trip to be a full day trip as sadly there wasn’t enough time in beautiful Cassis. Highly recommended though and Ade our guide gave me such good recommendations of others things not to miss in Marseille. Thank you Ade…

We had a very special day with our guide Thomas. He looked after us very well. Our van was very comfortable van.

Cassis, France is absolutely delightful. Enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch.
I hope to return in the not too distant future.

We accidentally booked from downtown vs. the cruise port and called about an hour before and the lady on the phone was super helpful, she went out of her way to change our plans and get us another driver. Thomas was fantastic! Can highly recommend a private van tour to Cassis and Aix. We also bought Cassis boat tickets and got on a 1 hr. ride right away, was well worth the visit to both cities.

Florence was an excellent guide and did a splendid job providing enlightening information about various points of interests along our drive and walking tour. Cassis was absolutely stunning and Aix en Provence was pristine. Strongly recommend asking for Florence.

Aidan our guide was fantastic, he gave us so much really interesting information . We loved Cassis, and had a lovely lunch there plus saw amazing scenery. Aix en Provence also a beautiful town to walk round and learn some of its history

This trip was really good. The only thing that was not good was the the boat trip didn’t work with the schedule of this trip. It would have been nice for the time table to work with the biat schedule. Great tour guide.
