Wow! The tour was well organized and tour guide was excellent. Highly recommend this one day tour. We felt safe in the bus. Bus was clean and driver was punctual. Guide kept us in a group at all times. No delays along the way.

Hiroshima was a distinct world war memory that no one of our era can forget. It felt surreal to be at the exact bombing spot in Hiroshima. Miyajiami was great for its leisurely island roaming and interesting encounters with deer. When wife resisted parting with snack in hand the deer went behind her and tried prodding her with horns!

The tour was a great day. You will visit Miyajima and in Hiroshima the Genbaku Dome with the Peace Memorial Museum. The tour guide was a lovely nice person. I can recommend this tour.

Kyoto was an AMAZING tour guide and made the excursion so enjoyable! She was kind, knowledgeable, and looked out for all of the guests!

I’ll start by saying the actual shrine and Hiroshima museum were fantastic and definitely worth seeing. We did the tour coming from Kyoto so over half the trip is travel time via train and bus as expected. However, we couldn’t hear the tour guide the majority of the time on the bus and while walking. The whole group kept saying the same thing and the guide would talk before the whole group arrived in each spot. I understand English wasn’t her first language but she just read off a sheet the whole time. It would be useful to provide us with the info sheet. Hopefully other guides were better but we felt it was a waste of money since we would arrange the transport ourself and were paying for the tour guide to enhance the trip. Please fix this going forward as the trip is not cheap.

Well organized and informative. Our guide Nao was lovely. Would recommend to anyone wanting to explore this side of the Island.

My bowing before the memorable and the tour of the museum brought tears to my eyes. It is the zero point from which to measure the comeback of Japan.

Hiro was a excellent guide and everyone on board the bus enjoyed the trip
She was very caring and careful to do a head count regularly and was very informative on the places we visited

The Peace Memorial is so solemn. The Museum is a history class, full of grief.
The island of Miyajima is beautiful. A solace from big cities.

It was a very interesting tour, but I felt we spent way too much time on miyajima and not nearly enough time in Hiroshima, specifically the Peace Memorial Museum. It would have been nice to have had 30-60 min more, felt very rushed through the museum but had a lot of down time on the beautiful island.

Natural beauty, lovely boat trip and delicious seafood in Miyajima. A huge history lesson in Hiroshima. I am glad my kids saw this. Well organised trip.

Miyajima island & Hiroshima as a whole was an amazing experience! Everything was very well organized

Hiroshima peace Park and museum. Beautifully set out. Provided insight into this historical and tragic event.

Great tour and excellent guides. We got at the meeting point and got all the instructions needed and the guide took us to the train car. Arriving at Hiroshima the guide was already waiting for us. Our guide provided a lot of Japanese history and customs. Really attentive and professional.

Unfortunately I would not recommend this tour.
The group was very large- around 30 people. We wasted so much time doing head counts and waiting for stragglers. The “crowd control” by the guide could be improved.
I had expected some sort of private bus or transfer from Kyoto to Hiroshima, but it was just the standard JR train. That’s probably my bad….should have expected that, but it did feel like the transfer experience was lacking.
The guide was generally good, but also struggled with English more than I expected.
We were told we had a couple hours on the island for food and shopping but in reality had less than an hour after she was done talking about the shrine so we felt very rushed. We hurriedly ate lunch and had no time for shopping.
In general, I felt we could have done this trip mich more efficiently on our own, and the benefits of a guided tour did not outweigh the drawbacks.

Tour plan includes the transportation from Kyoto/Osaka to Hiroshima and to the Miyajima island and back. Away too much time was spent in the island (incl. a 2-hour free time), while the visit in the memorial park was too short. This was a repeating feedback from visitors over and over again; I approached the organizer ahead of time asking to change the agenda, but was refused by a “we cannot comply with everyone’s request” response.
The guide seems very knowledgeable, but in most of the time she could be heard only by the very few surrounding her (we were 33 people in the group). No audio devices or speaker was used, as seen by other guides. This is also a repeating lesson learned that got no reply by the operator.
we ordered two tickets, but one of us got sick the night before the tour. The operator (JTB Global Marketing & Travel Inc., which is also called Sunrise Tours) refused to refund us for the fees, not even for the bullet train fees that they get back from JR West company (I verified that with the representative of the train company in Kyoto Station). Approached the operator and Viator several times for a partial refund, but got refusal over and over.
Bottom line – “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results” (Albert Einstein). The operator, JTB Global Marketing & Travel Inc., a.k.a. Sunrise Tours, repeats its sloppy plan and execution, so the result is accordingly.

While this was a long day – from departure at 7:30 in the morning at Kyoto Station until return at 9 at night – it did afford the opportunity to see Miyajima with its famous Itsukushima Shrine and wandering deer as well as the historical city of Hiroshima where the horrors of the A-bomb can sadly be witnessed at the museum and respects paid at the memorials. I cannot imagine being in such close proximity and not taking time to do so. However, leave sufficient time to locate the tour facility at Avanti (the elevator to B1 does not work that early in the morning), and read up about historical facts as while the guide we had was quite knowledgeable and English proficient, she was a bit soft spoken making it rather difficult to hear in the larger group of 35 or so on our tour. Also advisable to have a light snack before embarking as there is no food until at least noon, then limited again until arrival back at Hiroshima train station.

It was a great day visiting both Miyajima Island and Hiroshima. Hiro was an amazing tour guide! She was well informed and able to answer all of our questions. It was a long day getting from Kyoto to Hiroshima and back, but it was well worth the trip and I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Liked everything on the tour, but communication was poor with 38 people aboard. The A bomb site was impressive and the museum very emotional.

  20. Lynn_M

Seeing the preserved building in Hiroshima and the museum.
The memorials are very tastefully presented.

We enjoyed this tour. Bullet train ride to Hiroshima and the same going back to Kyoto. We saw nice sites on the island. Also the memorial and in the museum. Hiro is a good guide. Good experience overall.
