Our guide, Yuka, was exceptional. She texted me well in advance of our visit to let me know that she would be our guide and to identify our areas of interest. She then followed up a few days before the visit to confirm our appointment. She picked us up at our hotel and we headed off to Fushimi Inari Taisha to see the Shinto shine there. It was amazing to see all the Tori Gates and to learn about their history. Yuka is very knowledgeable, her English is excellent, and she is very accommodating. She recommended we visit the Kiyomizu-dera Temple, which had not been on our list. We were so glad she made that recommendation. The temple was beautiful with its majestic views. We finished with a trip through Gion and the Nishiki Market. Yuka also recommended some places for us to dine, which was very helpful. All it all, my family had a great trip to Kyoto thanks in large part to Yuka. I would highly recommend this experience. Footnote: Be prepared to walk — a lot!

Mako was friendly, knowledgeable, and managed to fit everything we’d hoped to see in the time we had. Would have been difficult to impossible to do that on our own. We’re so glad we decided to do go with a guide.

Shu was a amazing guide, he was very patient and responsive to our needs. Highly recommend. Great day out for a family who don’t have much time in Kyoto.

I saw the best of Kyoto. Kaori is the best tour guide she is very knowledgeable and can answer all of your questions. Thank you Kei for a wonderful day.

My wife and I had an extraordinary tour with Yoji. He is undoubtedly the best tour guide we have ever had. His fluent English and profound knowledge left us in awe. Yoji provided us with a captivating tour of the Nijo Castle, offering us a wealth of intriguing historical and cultural insights related to this exquisite castle and its adjacent garden. Following this, we savored a delightful lunch at the Nishiki Market before heading to the Kinkaku-ji temple.
The Golden Temple was an absolute spectacle, and Yoji’s meticulous attention to detail and engaging commentary kept us thoroughly entertained throughout the tour. Our experience with him was nothing short of exceptional.

Our guide Yoshi took us on a great visit to Kyoto. We especially enjoyed the bamboo forest and Nijo Castle. Yoshi realized we were on the old side and adjusted to our pace and even took us to the train station and got us to the bullet train area. We saw a lot and learned a lot in 4 hours. Yoshi was a great guide.

This was an awesome tour…Kaz san made us an exceptional itinerary and we got to see more than we expected. He took us off the normal tourist routes and showed us some nice little gems that were beautiful and peaceful…and not crowded. He was very informative and shared a lot about each site. He is also a very friendly and open person who shared a lot about himself and life in Kyoto/Osaka area. I highly recommend this tour and try to request Kaz san if you can.

The 4 hour tour was great and our tour guide Yuri was very knowledgeable. She worked with us and we were able to create an itinerary for our tour.

Shun was an outstanding guide. Friendly, cheerful very informative, and attentive. He stayed with us even though time ran long due to traffic and bus transport. He also got us set up at a great restaurant for a late lunch before we all separated. We highly recommend Shun.

I had a great time travelling with my guide, Hiro. He was very knowledgable about every location, and was able to point out some good shops to visit as we travelled to the next destination.

Tomo provided me with an exceptional tour of Kyoto! She is a wealth of information and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of the beautiful city. We covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time, and captured a plethora of picturesque photos. She was also very patient and helpful with any non tour related questions I had. I would highly recommend her as your tour guide, she is a fantastic lady!

Megumi was an amazing tour guide. I highly recommend this tour. She customized the tour to what we wanted and her knowledgeable of the city and the points of interest were excellent. She even gave up restaurants to visit after the tour was completed. Thank you so much for making our trip great!

We enjoyed our half day tour of Kyoto with Kazu. The trip was well planned and we had a great time. Kazu was friendly and felt just like family. He was prompt and his English was excellent. He helped us to navigate the public transportation and gave us recommendations on what to do when we completed the tour. We got to enjoy the Fushimi Inari Taisha and Golden temple. I would highly recommend this guide and Viator tour group. Thank you for a great time. I would use this service again.

Yoji was both flexible with our plans that changed up until the last minute, as well as clever in planning our day to take in what we wanted to see and do. The entire family enjoyed the day.

Toshi is a very knowledgable guide for Kyoto and gave us an excellent sample of the major temples and shrines in Kyoto and provided the right amount of history to make the visit memorable. We especially liked the background he shared about Buddhism and Shinto philosophy. He also took time after our 4 hour tour to suggest a route for our second day, which we did on our own without getting lost! Highly recommend.

Helpful in getting us to the imperial palace and Nijo castle but was expecting to hear insights and history of each location. The posted signs at each location provided some basic overview of what we were looking at. Previous day tours in Kyoto included great commentary of sights visited. Would recommend the onsite docent tour at each of these two specific locations for more educational commentary. Every guide is different so your experience may vary.

Reo provided a great tour for our group of 6. Since we had never been to Kyoto before, he offered to come by our airbnb to start the tour. Because we chose sites that were on opposite sides of town we took both the subway and bus several times, for which Reo had one day transit passes readily available. He also helped us navigate to a fun spot for lunch after our tour. We appreciated his descriptions and commentary of the sites we visited. Would definitely recommend this tour and advise prospective clients to do a 6 hour tour instead of 4. There’s so much to see!

Kay, the tour guide asked me what places I want to go. I told her to take me to the highlights of Kyoto. It was a customized tour therefore, I got to see the best places in Kyoto such as Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kiyomizu Temple, Ishibekoji and Yasaka Shrein. Kay was very nice, polite and knowledgeable of the places mentioned above. She also took my pictures which is very helpful and important for me during this tour. Thank you Kay!

We visited the known and the little known shrines and temples of Kyoto. It was fun walking down the narrow alleyways and visiting little known sites of significance via the back entrances. Autumn was most breathtaking with the reddest leaves juxtaposed with the orange, yellow and green hues of the gardens. Amazing! It was a spiritual experience for us.

This was our first trip to Japan and we decided to go to Kyoto for a quick weekend based on recommendations of friends. We booked our tour very last minute for our 2nd day there opting to venture out on our own on the 1st day. Ken connected with me ahead of coming to Kyoto to see what we wanted to do and not only was our guide on day 2, but gave us advice on where to go on our 1st day and how to get there to maximize our time in Kyoto. Ken was exceedingly knowledge, flowed with the last minute changes we wanted to make on day 2 and even recommended a stop at Nijo Castle which wasn’t on our original plan but ended up being our favorite spot. Ken was amazing and would highly recommend him in the future
