This is a wonderful private tour that really gives a great overview of Edinburgh. Svend-Erik was a perfect guide who told many interesting stories, kept the conversation flowing effortlessly, and intermittently gave us options on choices for where we would like to go during the 3 hours. Our family enjoyed this tour very much and we highly recommend it for an overview of this beautiful city.

The guide cancelled one hour before the tour- and it’s very understandable that emergencies happen but the mode of cancellation was an email. Given the extreme last minute nature one would expect a phone call but nope- I waited around for the guide for 5 min and then decided to call the tour company but the phone was busy and that’s when I saw the email sitting in my inbox from just an hour ago. Needless to say will never be utilizing this company.

We took this tour on Thursday, September 8, 2024, only a few hours before the Queen passed, and lots of attractions shut down.
For that reason, we were very fortunate to get Alex as our guide, as we squeezed A LOT of sights into just a few hours. Before the tour, we had a chat with Alec, and he customized the tour to OUR interests, and to avoid sites we’d already seen and/or had no interest in. These included St. Giles Cathedral, Greyfriar Kirk, Victoria Street, and the Flodden Wall.
Alec was knowledgeable about all the sites, and has an engaging and fun personality. We asked LOTS of questions, and he was very patient in explaining stuff to us.
We finished off with a pint at the famous World’s End pub.
We give this tour our highest possible recommendation. Book it, and try to get Alec as your guide. You won’t regret it!

Withlocals In Edinburgh, Scotland TOTALLY messed up and never notified us that the guide they assigned cancelled our tour today. When we called from the tour departure location to tell them we were there waiting, we were told that Nick had cancelled and said he had notified us. We had received confirmation of booking and payment AND our tickets – but NO communication from Withlocals or tour guide Nick cancelling our tour. We are angry and disappointed that Viator’s local representative ruined our morning in Edinburgh!!
