Our guide, Wag, really made the tour. He was friendly and very knowledgeable. Not only did we get to try some local foods, we also learned quite a bit about Edinburgh in the process. Highly recommend.

The salmon and cheese late for me and the haggis and scotch egg for my husband. The whisky was good.

Our guide, Wag, took us to 4 places. At Under the Stairs, we had a gin cocktail with black pudding stew; it was a very dark restaurant and the dish was also dark, so no pictures. At Bertie’s, the place we enjoyed the least, we were served small pieces of fried fish and fried calamari which was not up to par. The third stop was interesting— The Scotch Malt Whisky Society where scotch is renamed — we tasted “Tasty and Fun” which was stronger than most; it was served with haggis, very good. Final stop was Whighams Wine Cellar where we enjoyed sticky toffee pudding followed by a nice cheese plate with a white wine. Overall, we’re glad we went, but we’ve had better food in other cities’ food tours. Guide Wag was good, no complaints there.

What a wonderful adventure! Our guide, Wag, was excellent, taking us to a variety of restaurants. We sampled haggis (not bad!), fish chowder, an assortment of cheeses and breads. Plus a gin cocktail and whiskey. Even better was Wag’s stories and discussions. He made a good time even more enjoyable.

Guide was amazing. Food was memorable and the drinks were iconic. Guide was instrumental with retrieving our sons luggage.

I always try to do a food and drink tour when I visit somewhere and this one did not disappoint! We got to walk and see parts of the city we hadn’t seen yet and ate some great food. Our guide was fantastic! Really knew his stuff and had great recommendations! All around great tour!!
Tammy_H –
Lovely evening out with a casual group. All about delicious food and a taste of Scottish culture and history.
Sean_L –
A lot of great history and food was pretty good. Would have liked everyone to have their own Scotch egg at our first location. The remainder of the food places and drinks were very good. Our tour guide was pretty knowledgeable and made the tour exciting!

Our guide was very good. Be prepared do a lot of walking up and down hills and stairs. We had a lot of fun with our group.
Bonnie_M –
Too few restaurants, too much waiting for food, poor attention by restaurants to enough table settings for the group.
Would prefer not having to share a dish, portions should be for individuals!
Went to only 4 restaurants. Given the length of time this tour took, should have been and could have been to 6. Would look for other providers of a food tour.
Glenn_W –
Great walking tour as well as very good food tour. Our guide, Tilly, was fantastic. Covers a lot of ground.
Margo_S –
Brilliant food tour covering both Old and New Towns with fantastic guide Tilly. Great food and drink and company, learnt so much. Highly recommended ( but not Scotch Eggs – never again!)

Wag was a fantastic tour guide. Taking us to some great local spots and telling us a little about the city as we walked between restaurants.

Sara was absolutely amazing and delightfully enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge of food, drink and Edinburgh history. We walked through many areas most tourists would never see and sampled wonderful cheeses, smoked salmon, wine, cocktails, whisky tasting, Scottish specialties and desserts at several fine eateries. If you love food this tour is not to be missed.

Mhari was a great guide, friendly and knowledgeable. The food and drinks were good and we learned a lot.
One of the better food tours we hsve taken.

This was one of the highlights of our 3 days in Edinburgh. They took us to several top-notch bars and restaurants off the beaten path favored by locals. They limit the group size (we were 6) which makes all the difference. Cheaper tours go up to 25+ so you end up being herded into all the tourist trap restaurants. We should have booked it for our first rather than last day. Tilly was very knowledgeable and personable. We highly recommend this tour!

Wonderful experience! Great way to tour downtown Edinburgh. We were only here for 2 days and doing this tour allowed us to view a lot of the city in a short time. You get to try several local foods and gain insight into the local’s favorite spots!

Tilly was an awesome guide. Had wonderful history of the area as well as the food items and the restaurants/pubs we visited. Would definitely do it again if we are ever back. Thanks for all the food and fun.
