My son and I really enjoyed the day. Ali is great at bringing the history of Stone Town and Prison Island to life. I loved the Spice Farm tour, I love to cook and it was fun to see the origins of many of the spices that I use.
My thanks to Ali and our driver Khamis for a memorable day!

The tour is well organized, and compact, offering the chance to see and do a lot in a day and still you can enjoy it all. The driver and the guide were friendly and professional, speaking good English. The Spice Farm was a nice one.
Much is like promoted on the website (which is a great combo, that is why I chose it), with the exception of the snorkeling part. Nobody mentioned it and there was any way not enough time on Prison Island for it, we were rushed back to the boat after seeing the turtled and the building.
Also, I had to pay for the slavery exhibition ticket though it is written all fees are covered. But still, it was the best part of the entire Stone Town.
All in all, a good tour that I would happily recommend. Only a small update to the accuracy of information would be nice in order to match the expectations better.

The full day tour started out great, the driver and spice farm staff were amazing. But we gave a low rating for the prison island and stone town tour guide. She refused to sit with us when we stopped for lunch and did not guide us on the tour just walked in front of us the whole time without talking or explaining anything. She was the worst tour guide we’ve ever had.

Such a great trip! Our guide Ali was the best and he spoke fluent English. He showed us the spice farm where he knew every plant and tree and it was a really good experience to see where the spices come from before they gets processed. The trip to Prison Island was also good and it was fun to feed the turtles. Then he showed us around in Stone Town which has all these small and narrow streets which makes it feel like a maze. We ate lunch at a local place and the food was amazing.
A big recommendation!

The guide was great and friendly, but there were sections of the tour in the description that were missed.
1. Old Dispensary – not visited
2. Catholic Cathedral – not visited, instead we went to the Anglican Church by the old slave market. I had already visited it because it wasn’t mentioned in the tour description.
3. There was no snorkelling. When asked this was a surprise to the guide.
I was also asked what I wanted to visit – I’m a tourist, I don’t know which places I should go to to get a good view on the culture and history of Stone Town.
Some of the facts about the place were also a little off, for example apparently only 200 people live in old Stone Town. Census data suggest otherwise.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and patient. Hassan thoroughly explained the history and gave us ample time to process and ask questions!
