We had a pleasant drive from Cairo by Sam where we met our tour guide Kholoud to give us a tour of the history of Alexandria! Unfortunately the library of Alexandria was closed ( which we knew ahead of time) so we did not get to go inside . But we over had a great day exploring the Catacombs, the amphitheater, and Pompey’s Pilar . We had a nice lunch on the water and headed back. Just enough time in Alexandria and was nice to have our own personal guide. I have booked several different trips with this tour company and they have been so communicative and responsive. If you are looking for a good day tour to Alexandria, look no further!

We went on a day trip from Cairo to Alexandria. We were able to enjoy the catacombs, the fortress, Pompey’s column, the spectacular new library and more corners of that city. Always by the hand of Yussef, a Spanish-speaking guide with extensive knowledge, a wonderful character and a very good hand for photos. Without him it would not have been the same.

We were picked up at our hotel in Cairo and driven three hours to Alexandria where we were joined by an Egyptologist named Ayman. He guided us around the top sights in Alexandria for about five hours (including a self-paid lunch stop). His command of the English language was only exceeded by his knowledge and presentation of the history of Alexandria and the major sights we visited. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the day. The only reason I lowered my rating to 4 stars was the last minute $36 surprise upcharge because our hotel (the Intercontinental) was in Nasir City.
