What an amazing experience! The Buchart Gardens might be the most beautiful garden on earth. So many species of plants, flowers, and trees! Downtown Victoria was also very nice with a lot of great history. Alex wad a fantastic tour guide as well! Highly recommend!

This was a great day out and a fantastic pre-cruise choice. Our driver, Byron, was great and went ‘above and beyond’ with making it so memorable. The group was just over 20 people, in a small bus. Choosing a Sunday for this was a good move, as meant very little traffic getting to the ferry terminal and Byron managed to get us there and onto an earlier crossing. He drove us around Victoria and pointed out places of interest before leaving us in Chinatown to explore at leisure. There was plenty of time to do this before meeting up again and the drive to Butchart Gardens, which were spectacular, despite the rain. Thanks Byron.

This tour was excellent – made especially so by the professionalism, good humor and deep knowledge of our tour guide, Basil. Be aware there is a lot of bus and ferry time for the relatively short stay on the island, but the stops are well organized and designed to maximize the time. We enjoyed Basil’s narration about the area’s history and culture the entire trip. Butchart Gardens is stunning, and Victoria inner harbour & downtown was very nice and well worth a visit. Highly recommend this if you’re prepared for the travel time (12-13 hours all in).

Gavin our tour guide was awesome and gave us clear instructions and great tidbits of information during our drive to Victoria. this is 100th+ tour over 13 countries with Viator. I’ve never had a bad experience until today. Do
1. I booked The Westin Bayshore at a premium because this company suggests it as the meeting point for this 13-14 hour tour.
2. I received MULTIPLE messages about being on time at 7:30am, we were there at 7:11 am. We were told if we were late we would be rebooked.
3. We waited over 15 min for one of the couples to come out of a hotel. This has us miss the 9am ferry, waiting for the 10am. Driver tries to BS why we are late but it’s clear why. We waited over 15 min for one guest. That one choice added an hour to an already long day
4. Also cut time short at Buchard gardens the primary reason for booking. (1 hour 45 min on property the entire reason we did this 12-14 hour tour) $32 to get in each but less than two hours there so we could be dropped off three hours in the city. Rather had more time in the gardens, the paid for highlighted portion of the trip.
5. A/C on in the morning while it’s freezing.
6. Heat on at 2pm until multiple people complained and started peeling clothes off.
7. Incessant talking. Story about lovers and cheating (Rottenberry) with kids on bus. Sometimes having private sidebar conversations with people over loudspeaker. Have to hear about his cousin blah blah blah.
8. No plug ins on bus with 13-14 hour tour
9. Left at 7:30am home by nearly 10pm. Almost 15 hours. If you choose the hotel they suggest in the notes, you will spend the maximum amount of time waiting for all the others.
I suggest grabbing the ferry yourself and doing anything other than this tour.
Tip for the driver? Sure, don’t leave a van full of people having a shorter day at the gardens because you want to wait 15 minutes for a couple. I STARTED checking the time after we were already waiting several minutes for this couple so it may have even been 20 min waiting for them.
We were warned repeatedly if we were late to call and we would be rebooked. Nobody wants to do a 15 hour tour to the gardens and spend an hour and 45 minutes there.

Our tour guide (BYRON) was well versed not only with the surrounding areas but in quite a bit of the history of the First Nation tribes and cultures. He was extremely attentive with all on his tour bus, and everyone felt extremely comfortable and intrigued with his knowledge. Both my wife and myself HIGHLY recommend him to all. The tour was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Byron, made it one of the best travel experiences we have had. The drive to the ferry take about 2 hrs but the time flew. Byron provided tons of info and everyone on the tour was friendly. We gelled quickly. The ferry ride is a relaxing way to reach Victoria. Butchart Gardens is a spectacular stop. Even our 10 year-old enjoyed it! The Victoria tour was great we saw much of the tourist zone near the water and had a nice lunch at Finn’s. The return was marred by a 30-minute ferry delay but even that was fun. Byron and our fellow travelers spent the time talking and laughing. We got to the hote about 10:00 pm and are so glad we did the tour. Byron is the best tour guide we have had (even if he doesn’t play saxophone – lol. Inside joke from our trip). Great trip! Highly recommend!
