It’s about a 2 hour hike, not particularly difficult, but does have some great views. It is private land owned by the local village. The drive to the village is beautiful. You get off the beaten path. The hike is guided by one of the local village members. Afterwards, we had lunch in the home of the guide. The food is a local dish (spinach & fish soup) with fruits. I’m not the most adventurous eater, but it wasn’t bad. Overall, it’s a very authentic experience. You get to experience the life of the locals in a non-touristy way, while getting out in nature and experiencing some great views from the mountain ridges nearby the village.

This experience is a must for everyone visiting Fiji. We had an incredible time. The hike is not manicured. So light pants if you are sensitive to plants. No mosquito issues. Prepare for rain depending on when you travel. Have a small dry bag for phone and extra clothes.

This should be on everyone’s to do list. Hike was not on “trails”. Just paths through the forest and fields. The visit to the village, Kava ceremony, hike, and then lunch with Peter at his farm house was all amazing. The drivers were so kind, funny, and full of excitement. There was not a moment I didn’t enjoy. Even the monsoon 😂

This was by far the best experience I’ve had in Fiji. Firstly got to experience village life and participated in a kava ceremony then the hike began. Very hot but the views were absolutely amazing. Most of the hike you could see views from all angles. The walk was a bit steep and slippery in parts make sure you have good shoes and if you have sensitive legs wear long pants as there is a lot of shubbery – we just wore shorts and it was fine. The swim at the waterfall was magical and so refreshing after the hot walk. Lunch was lovely – it was spinach and tuna with coconut milk and an assortment of paw paw, tapioca and banana and a glass of lemongrass tea. The road in and out would be the roughest road I’ve ever travelled but it sort of added to the experience. Ray our driver was very careful and I felt very safe with his driving. Ray also told us a lot about Fiji – he was great. Peter took us on our hike and was also very informative on Fijian cultures and village living. Peter was also very patient as I’m 62 and not a fast walker and I never felt rushed. I walk alot so am reasonably fit (slow but fit) it would be a tough walk if you didn’t have some sort of fitness although Peter would walk at your pace. There were only 2 of us on this walk we had the best time and I will definitely do it again next time in Fiji.

Our hike was wonderful in not only beauty and exercise but the knowledge from our guide Ray about the plants, trees and the local village with which they prepared us an amazing lunch. The waterfall is refreshing and very relaxing to stand under or to just float around, thank you Ray!!!!

This was a great authentic experience. Something I haven’t seen any other tour offer. The hike was easy to moderate, about 1.5 – 2 hours. We ran into villagers chopping trees to build homes and some hunting for wild boars. Peter was a nice guide who welcomed us into his home.
Ray the tour operator is amazing! Communicative, friendly, he gave us great recommendations for food and other tours even if they were not his own. He also helped us with transportation when the resort was overcharging.
I highly recommend this tour. The only thing is if rain is in the forecast, I suggest rescheduling to a day with better weather. We got lucky and the clouds parted for a great view!

This was a true highlight of our time in Fiji. The hike itself was excellent, probably a medium in terms of difficulty, not hard but a workout for sure. But beyond the hike the best part was meeting Peter, being welcomed into his home and learning about his life as a farmer in a village in Fiji. This trip was as much an authentic cultural experience it was a hiking trip.
In terms of itenary, the trip starts at your hotel and you get spectacular views on the drive up. There’s a bit of off roading which was quite fun. Next up you do a Kava ceremony before going on an amazing hike. The hike takes you up to a spectacular view and then through the village. After the hike there’s a waterfall you visit which comes from the same water supply that feeds into the village, its refreshing true Fiji water. After that you head back to Peter’s house for lunch and then head back to your hotel.
The hike itself was really great as was the waterfall. The lunch after the hike was alright as well, it’s vegetarian food that a farmer would typically eat during the week. I’m glad we got to experience an authentic Fiji lunch and the lemongrass tea we had in Peter’s home after the hike was probably the best herbal tea I’ve ever had.
Overall a great experience, fascinating to learn about village life in Fiji and truly special to be welcomed into Peter’s home and Village. Both Peter and Ray (the driver/tour operator) made this a great experience and it’s awesome to be able to support a local tour company and the village we visited!

Loved the hike, the guides, the swim in the waterfall too. Then jumping in the ute of the four wheel drive was a fun little bonus. Will do again. Thank you.

What a gem of an experience! Definitely consider this excursion when on Viti Levu. Stunning views and warm hospitality from Peter and Vikki. We felt so fortunate to meet them and learn about life in the Fijian highlands.
We were picked up at Intercontinental, which is probably the furthest hotel from Peter’s village, but the drive let’s you see so much of the island. Off road part of the drive might be hard for some, but just breathe in the adventure of it all. Hike itself is a little over 5 miles – nothing too steep or difficult. Overall, a wonderful way to experience Fiji! Thank you to Peter and Vikki for making it possible and for sharing your love of your community!

Overall the tour is good because you get to see the village and learn about their way of life and it’s not the usual track in Fiji. Beautiful scenery and the views were amazing.

The guide Peter had many positive reviews yes. That’s exactly the reason why I booked the tour. However, when I was there, I was really abhorred at the hygiene standards and the cup that they used to serve the kava is being used repeatedly which was why I turned down the drink but the guide was unhappy. Yes I respect the culture but at the same time, I would also like to be respected when I do not want to drink it.
He wasn’t interested in showing me the village, no stories exchange no talks no nothing. For the entire trail, he walked 4-5m ahead and it was raining too. I felt that it would have been done better by letting us know in advance what to expect of the route. Luckily I had an umbrella with me.
Through out the entire session, he kept asking me to donate to the village. He has land, owns cattle and has a private waterfall. I really think he is well off enough which was attested by the driver. Donations are non obligatory, why am I coerced into donating? I didn’t have any money with me as I haven’t got a chance to exchange it and he told the driver to drive me to town, exchange and give it to him.
While hiking, we met a Bhutanese family and he went to exchange contact and we stood there while he chatted for 15 mins. If you can’t even do your job when I’ve paid, what makes you think you can do it for others?
I felt like it was a bit of discrimination for Asian clients (tipping is not in our culture) so if he served Caucasian clients he might get a fat tip.
    Overall
Ray the owner was amazing, I spoke to him before I posted the review and he gave his word that if I were to revisit, he will take me up the trail personally. I appreciate that because he values the comments! My review is not to put the tour down because it was an amazing tour! It is to let others know that it’s not a comfortable tour and the lunch is prepared by the locals which is mostly vegetarian so if you are not accustomed to it, eat beforehand and after. Also we are not obligated to donate, decline firmly.
