The cruise was fine but:
our hotel pickup was due at 12 noon. A car arrived at 11.15. We rushed to our room to pack. When we returned to reception, the car had gone.
On the boat reception knew nothing of our reservation. Your BR number meant nothing to them
On departure morning, we agreed pick up at 9 am. Then Mina asked us to switch to 8 am. We compromised on 8.30. The car arrived at 9.20. On our seat we found a half eaten breakfast.
Mina’ s English was not great. He spoke quite quietly when showing us the ruins. I could not make much of what he said.

I had a great experience. Mohamed Wafa was a great tour guide who handled everything and was very communicative and knowledgeable about Ancient Egypt. While the cruise wasn’t truly a 5 star luxury cruise I found it to be an excellent experience overall. I was a solo traveler and it was easy to make friends and there were even other solo travelers as well.

The cruise was absolutely amazing. The rooms are spacious and with massive windows! Food is excellent. Trips to temples included are just mind-blowing…
We had the best tour guide you could hope for- Michael. He was passionate and knowledgeable, funny and caring. We booked additional temples trips with him!

Our Nile river cruise was a last minute decision. We booked only a couple of weeks before departing and we were nervous about making such a quick decision, but the experience is one, we as a family, will never forget. The boat was the perfect size, not too big and not too small. Our rooms were clean, we had great views to the Nile, the rooftop pool deck was everything we hoped for and expected and the food was delicious.
Prior to boarding the boat we arranged a tour in Aswan, as well as a tour in Luxor after disembarking. These tours were also a complete treat for us as a family. I was nervous about all of the transfers and coordination of time between stops because we wear arriving into Aswan by train and departing Luxor by bus, but Ahmed our tour guide was fantastic, he put me at ease with letting me know he had it all under control with the logistics and that we had no need to worry about making the boat or missing a bus. The entire 3 days we were with him, from start to finish he was amazing. His knowledge of the temples and sacred sites that he grew up around is priceless. He explained things to us in such a way that helped us to see the temples in a whole new light. We felt as though we were capable of translating the mysteries that lie with in the artwork. He is also a great photographer and knows the right spots to grab the perfect family picture. It was a fantastic family experience that we have no regrets with and we thank Ahmed for all his help and time during our adventure. We will never forget it or him!! Thank you!! 🙂

All the tours were carefully coordinated and our guide Ahmed was thoughtful.
The food was good and the staff very very kind.

We had a fantastic time. The staff on the boat were amazing – 5 star service from the moment we checked in. Everything was as expected based on the Viator listing. The pictures are not exactly what we had on our boat, but overall things were similar, except for the pool (it was only a small plunge pool) but that wasn’t an issue for us.
In the reception area, there was a posted sign of the day’s activities so you knew what to expect throughout the day (meal time, temple visits, etc.).
The rooms are good size and comfortable. The food was amazing. The rooftop area was great. There were lots of shady spots, sun loungers, and a small pool. It was great to spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the Nile.
We also had a great tour guide for the temples. He was one of the better guides we had during our time in Egypt.
This cruise was a highlight of the trip and would strongly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the Nile.

Great experience on the Semiramis III. Newly remodeled and contemporary, we felt quite lucky to be placed on this ship. The rooms had a lovely palette — kudos to the design team. We chose the two night itinerary to save money (why stay on the boat for nights in Aswan and Luxor when you could stay in a hotel or guesthouse for much, much cheaper) and it was perfect — we got to see two temples which otherwise would have required some logistics to reach, and they were both great examples of Greco-Egyptian architecture. Getting tickets though at the sites was a nightmare (as were the street vendors) — we had to stand in line with all the other guides cutting in front of us and jostling to get their tickets first. We felt the guide should have purchased tickets ahead of time to save the hassle of standing in a sweaty line of hundreds of people, but it seems like that’s probably not a feasible possibility with how things are run in Egypt. Our guide was good, although with the time spent waiting in line for tickets (significant, 45+ minutes), some of the information felt cut short. Our ship had a great sailing schedule that seemed to be 30 minutes behind all the other ships — which allowed us to have Edfu to ourselves after the crowds had gone. Speaking of sailing — that’s why you book a Nile cruise, right? This two night itinerary had 14 hours of sailing over two days — much more enjoyable than sitting at the dock. Great scenery, vignettes of Egyptian agrarian life, minarets in the distance. The sundeck was wonderful although the pool was tiny. It was HOT in Aswan — 111 degrees, which was too hot to lay out. 106 the next day was acceptable with the breeze while cruising and very enjoyable. Food was actually very, very good. I went in with no expectations other than to be fed and walked away pleasantly surprised at every meal. I have celiac disease and I quickly found the head chef who walked with me through the whole buffet (at every meal) to tell me what I could and couldn’t have (with reasonable accuracy — he said yes to rice with vermicelli which I knew I couldn’t eat but otherwise I only experienced minor cross-contamination issues, and I’m extremely sensitive). A fantastic experience overall, well worth the money, and I would recommend this highly to anyone who wants to experience a Nile cruise without breaking the bank. Pick up and drop off were also included which was great.

My wife and I took this cruise from Aswan to Luxor and didn’t have the best experience.
Firstly, when we boarded we were assigned a room toward the rear of the boat, which seemed fine at the time, but we later discovered was adjacent to the engine room and subject to much more noise and vibration than the rest of the rooms. The room smelled of smoke, which we shrugged off as maybe it was formerly a smoking room, but we also later realized that because it was adjacent to the engine room, when the sailors were smoking it seeped into the room.
The meals were good and the hospitality was very friendly and kind. Our tour guide was ok, not the best and not the worst but seemed to rush a bit through the sites and was actually rude at times when other guests asked questions.
As I said in the title, the locations are great and even though the ship was somewhat lacking it all balanced out to be an average experience.

Great experience! All the transfers and arrangements were seamless! The food on board was delicious and the ship was modern and very comfortable!

This tour was definitely a highlight among many on our trip to Egypt. All the crew were friendly and ready to accommodate your needs. A roomy cabin with large window, Cold A/C, a comfortable bed and marble bathroom. Great buffet with some authentic flavors mixed with international fare. All of which is much needed when you are summer temple hopping. A special distinction must go to our best and most handsome private guide in Egypt. His name is Osama and he is exactly what you need for an exclusive Egyptian tour of the great temples along the great Nile. He took great care of us every step. From the water’s edge at Philae Temple, to stepping into an 78 Peugeot blasting down the dusty African Edfu streets to the magnificent Edfu Temple, to the the cool sunset river stroll to the Beautiful Komombo or a few local falafel sandwich, he has got your bases well covered. His stories and narratives bring the artwork and architectural designs alive. He is knowledgeable and he is passionate about Egyptian history and we highly recommend his services as they were absolutely invaluable. One of our best experiences in Egypt. Thank you.

Very nice cruise, very beautiful but prepare cash. The crew is a bit agressive and they won’t let you get out of the ship if you don’t give them “tips”. The price depends on the time spent on board. Bad way to finish this wonderful time.
Sara_G –
Awful company.
Contacted week before saying we had to do 3 nights instead of 2. Cancelled a hotel, lost the money.
Contacted us night before saying we had to get a train from luxor to aswan (had just travelled from A to L) then told us 5am. We said no, got train at 7am, was absolutely disgusting.
Now on 2 day cruise again so have lost hotel money and need new hotel.
5* cruise isn’t true, food was OK, cabin, OK.
Haven’t contacted us for refund despite immediate complaint, just sent 30£.
Do not book.

DO NOT BOOK WITH VIATOR. When things go wrong it makes it even more difficult. They have no help or support line. Our boat was a dirty dump that did not even leave Aswan. The tour operator was non responsive. I had to get us off the boat and onto another one by myself. We missed a day of sailing and one if the temples we were supposed tonsee. Viator was nowhere to help.
Vlad_C –
We cruised on Opera, largest of the fleet. Great ship and crew. Plentiful food. Tour guide Ahmed made trip even better. He had scheduled our 4 days Luxor stay and even got us train tickets when none was available on the web.
Konstantinos_V –
Nile cruise is a must-have experience which can’t be missed, but I would strongly recommend to arrange it independently. We booked this cruise months ago and when we got on the boat (Monte Carlo), we realised that it was overbooked and there was no room for us. Our operators, Muhammed and Mona from the agency trying to calm us down for almost three hours with cheap excuses, even convince us to stay overnight in a hotel in Aswan and begin our cruise the next day. Suddenly we realised that we were helpless with no real back office support to rely on. In the end and while all the boats were ready to depart, they got us an upgrade to another bigger and better boat (Crown Emperor), -which they should have done from the first moment, and paid for our entrances in Kom Ombo temple.
Although the beginning was very stressful and disappointing, our cruise turned to be delightful, the Kom Ombo and Edfu temples are quite impressive and our egyptologists were excellent.
If you are about to book a Nile cruise, I would strongly recommend to do it on your own and plan enough time, about half day to see Luxor East and West bank.

Great experience and a must do to your Egypt trip. Very thrustworthy company. We were put on the Monica cruise. Great ‘luxury’ cruise with very comfortable beds, good food, friendly staff (although some of them stare like they have never seen a woman before without shame..) Our contact person from Viator was available 24/7 and took care of our trip. Guide’s name was Mohammed Mamdouh, also very friendly, honest and helpful. He has a playful style of guiding and knows his stuff. Unfortunately I lost my Airpods on the upper deck and after searching for 3 days (Find My app) they were found hidden in a staff member’s bunk.. management felt sorry and dealt with this issue immediately.
LISA_S –
This cruise was amazing! The Nile is so lovely, and the best part was just sailing along and seeing the beautiful landscape along the way. The room and food were even better than I had expected! The only thing to watch out for is that on the way out and when you dock, you have a lot of wasted time on the boat. On day 1, I was picked up at 11am, but the boat didn’t leave until 3pm. You actually arrive to Luxor and dock on day 2 in the afternoon (and then just sleep on the boat that night even though you are already at the final destination), not day 3 in the morning. If I had known that in advance, I would have arranged to do more in Aswan on day 1 and Luxor on day 2 rather than just sit and wait on the hot boat.
David_K –
We booked this tour and paid over 500 euros for the following “services”:
– The entire boat was reserved for a Chinese group. All the information boards (as per my pictures) were in Mandarin… we had to use our internet services (as those aren’t provided in the package) to loosely Google Translate our program
– The boat was old and dirty. Since we were dropoff passengers (the group had a 5-day program), we were put on the lower deck near the machine rooms where we could not only hear thr rumbling noise of the machinery but also smell the fumes emanating from them
– The room was dirty. I don’t expect a luxury vacation when the company doesn’t advertize it as such. In this case, it was misleading at best and blatantly dishonest if I’m being honest: this is anything but a 5-star cruise. Just look at the picture I uploaded: everything was gross. I didn’t want to shower because it felt disgusting…
– The sites were beautiful. One problem: there is no proper schedule (the description is very basic) and when you’re asking for details, Egypt Tours will send you the description of the tour… we had to wake up at 4:30 to see Edfou. It was gorgeous and absolutely worth it, but again we could have received this information beforehand. We also missed our dinner because there was no proper (English)
– (This is about the ship -Sultan Hassan-, not Egypt Tours) When leaving the ship, they asked us to pay them “tips for the crew members” and for “cleaning services” (I had to use Google translate since no one spoke proper English on board). We gave them the money, and they then asked for the double…. I had to tell them that I already tipped people and that I can’t be requested to pay for something like that….
– The food was mediocre. Bland. That’s buffet food at best, and it looked really bad.
Overall, after literally sending a dozen of messages to Egypt Tours, they paid us one night at the Winter Palacr in Luxor. That’s a nice gesture, for sure, but we had to tell them that we’ll report them to the Tourism Authorities for misleading advertising… they were first very reticent to help, but it looks like it takes a LOT of efforts to get them react. I’m happy they helped us, but the cruise in itself is really not worth it. We had high expectations and the trip turned into a horrible experience overall.
ONE ADVISE: book the boat directly. There are very beautiful boats such as Movenpick. They’re mich better equipped and you don’t pay for an unnecessary third party.
Carmen_G –
Bassant was great and always at hand making sure we were looked after. So from that perspective that was good! The cruise itself was nothing particularly fancy but then I think to get something above of what we had, the price tag would certainly be much higher.
Piero_C –
The beautiful landscapes of the river was the great part.
The visit to the temples Kom Ombo and Edfu temple was a nightmare!!!!!
I don’t know why 10 or more navy with hundred and hundred passengers arrive at the same time, having to face a huge line and as a result visit such a beautiful temples in just over half an hour. A pity that made the visit a horrible thing.
