a great leisurely trip.
The transfer from Dubai to Al Khasab takes about 3 hours. Then you participate in a 6 hour show cruise around a fjord in the Munsandam peninsula, have to opportunity to swim and snorkle twice the water is very transparent and there’s an abundance of fish, drink some coffee/tea, eat a tasty lunch and in general relax.

I do highly recommend it. There’s a bit of a waiting for the documents and visa things on the border to Oman but once you’re on the boat it’s really worth the journey. It’s marvelous rocky landscapes with a gorgeous sea.

The trip was absolutely amaizing. The driver was on time and very kind. To see dolphins swim so close to the dhow and swim with fishes in a clear water it’s a must. The fiords are stunning, unique place. I totally recommend thus excursion.

This was a fantastic excursion, through starkly beautiful Oman. The boat ride was so enjoyable. We saw dolphins including a baby and the places that we stopped to snorkel the water was crystal clear. We had a small group, only 10 on the boat, so it didn’t seem super touristy. The fjord that we actually went into is virtually deserted. There is little to no boat traffic. It was like being in a different world.
Lunch was quite good, and there was plenty of water and soda and juice drinks to combat the heat. I highly recommend the peach juice drink. There were two crew members the captain and an assistant, and they were very warm and welcoming.
My only complaint, which has been echoed another post, is it this is not a 9-hour trip from Dubai. It takes a solid 3 1/2 to 4 hours to get to Khasab from Dubai, depending on other pickups and the time through customs. That would not deter me from going again, but it’s important that people know that the it’s not just an hour and a half drive in the morning and an hour and a half in the afternoon. We left our hotel in downtown Dubai at 6:15 a.m. and returned back just before 8:00 p.m.

This was one of several Viator tours we took during our week in Dubai. We were staying in the Marina district and our driver picked us up right in front of our apartment building. It was a 2.5h trip to the port where the boat departed. Our drivers (Hamad) command of English wasn’t great, but we were able to communicate effectively. Hamad pointed out sites of interest and relayed pertinent info about the areas we were driving through. He provided bathroom breaks and some photo ops on the way. Traveling to Oman required a passport check at the border, which was relatively painless and well handled by Hamad. The scenery changes as you get closer to Khasab. We went from the Glitz of new Dubai, through the desert, into the mountains, and then to the water. We were part of a small group (12 people) on the Dhow. There was a bathroom on the boat. The boat trip lasted several hours, plying a sizable bay that almost connects to Gulf of Oman. We enjoyed the nice breeze off the water (thankfully, as it was pretty warm), the appearance of dolphins, and a couple stops to snorkel. A lunch of local cuisine was provided (quite delicious) and plenty of beverages available (but no alcohol). The boatmen were quite helpful and knowledgeable about the area. They even let one of our party drive the boat for a little bit. It was a good excursion, unlikely available anywhere else in the world obviously, and I would recommend it.

So glad we booked this trip! Viator was very easy to work with/through. The drive is long, but we appreciated our driver picking us up at our hotel, and navigating Customs for all of us. The dhow cruise and crew were very good, and made for an enjoyable experience.

First of all: it is a long way, 2 hours from Dubai Marina to the border, and another 45 min (including border formalities) to the port of Khasab. But the traffic was not so bad as some people described. We had full six hours on the boat. The weather was great, so we could enjoy swimming in the azure blue water. We have seen lots of dolphins. Don´t expect them jumping, but they come up. The landscape with rugges mountains, sometimes more than 900 m towering above the water, the bluegreen sea, picturesque dhows and sometimes lonely villages is just breathtaking. We had a lunch with chicken, rice and vegetables and always delicious tea. The guide was from Egypt and spoke German and English. All together a very relaxing trip, take care of the sun!

It is a long trip (12-14 hours), but absolutely worth it! Amazing landscape, dolphins right next to the boat, and excellent guides. This was my absolute favourite experience in Dubai.

This tour is a great way to get away from the hectic city of Dubai and relax in a spectacular atmosphere. The landscape is stunning, no surprise this area is called “the Norway of Arabia”. The fjord is surrounded by rocky mountains and scattered with small fishermen’s villages. We saw dolphins and we could dive in the crystal clear sea, admiring corals and colorful fish. The captain was a very pleasant person and the lunch on board is delicious. The boat is super comfortable. Highly recommended! The pickup and dropoff at the hotel is a very appreciated service.

This was the highlight of our Dubai vacation!! I spent a long time researching different tours and I’m so glad we chose this one! Pick up was right on time. Driver was good, and he made the border crossing very easy. We made a quick stop on the way to use the bathroom and buy snacks/drinks, which was perfect since we hadn’t had breakfast yet. Everyone on the boat was soooo welcoming and smiling!! The unlimited Tea and coffee was delicious. Boat had unlimited water and pop too. Lunch was filling and one of our favorite meals. It was interesting to see all the little villages along the route and here about how each one was unique. There were to snorkeling/swimming stops. The first was some of the best snorkeling I’ve seen. We ended up having a large pod of dolphins with babies follow our boat for a while home!
Our suggestions would be to eat breakfast before leaving and bring your own snorkel gear, especially if you have a beard. The snorkel equipment is the full face mask type with the built in snorkel, which my husband couldn’t use as it was leaking all around his beard.
Overall, our favorite thing we’ve done on this trip!

Absolutely amazing trip! I do think that the total trip time is WAY longer than the stated “9 hours” – it took us 4 hours of driving just to get to the port in Khasab, and another 4 to get back to Dubai (we were staying in a hotel right by the Dubai airport), in addition to the 6 hours on the boat, making the total trip time more like 14 hours. Therefore, the “9 hours” in the description is a little misleading (only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5).
However, aside from that, it was incredibly beautiful and scenic. The fjords and cliffs are majestic and the water is turquoise blue. The boat staff were extremely nice and did absolutely everything they could to make sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying the cruise. The Arabic coffee and tea is delicious, as well as the local lunch that is provided. I would absolutely recommend this trip for anyone looking to do something outdoors and outside of Dubai. Cruising around the fjords is breathtaking and feels like you’re on a different planet, the scenery is nothing like I’ve ever seen before. If you’re debating on whether or not to book this trip – do it! It is so different and unique compared to the typical tours around Dubai.
One of the biggest pros about the entire thing is that nothing felt rushed – something that many other tours are guilty of – rushing people through just to get that money and push the next group in. This tour was relaxing and calm and you can tell that the operators genially care about providing a great experience and teaching a little bit about the local culture and way of life of the people who live there.

Long day but worth it! Unique landscape and wonderful people. I recommend this trip but prepare for a long day.

Very pleasant and relaxing trip. Friendly , helpful and engaged staff, very good atmosphere. Good lunch on board. Take some food with you as car ride is 3:30-4h to the port in Oman. Snorkeling and dolphin watching were highlights of the trip

paid a premium price which is double the market price expecting the quality and experience will be different than other operators that are much cheaper however was surprised when we took the show there was other people that our nor in our tour that was on the same trip who paid half of we paid fie it was filled if kids plating and screaming .the food was cheap low standard and quality. disappointed for what we got in comparison to what was paid for you can do the exact same tout for a much cheaper price…also don’t expect any adventure it’s more if a cruise which was bit relaxing at all as people outside our tour joined with many kids screaming the while time

One of the most beautiful and unique places on the planet. Captain Abdul Aziz was the ideal guide. Humpback dolphins. Coral reefs. Fjords, and soaring mountains showing thousands of years of ocean history, in fine layers. Do it!

The boat trip was really wonderful and all of the staff were great! I wish I had known that it was 13 hours and that half of it would be in a van.
